Animations Update - Build 11262

Hello,

I have been working recently on animations, and I'm pretty happy with how they came out. I was not expecting it to take such a long time though but I finally managed to finish the animations for the grenades. Hopefully, you guys will like it too!

Oppcium Build 11262 - Patch Notes:

- In total, 17 animations have been added to the game, including 8-direction animation when crouching and walking while holding and throwing grenades

- Throwing a grenade will restrict movement for 0.4 seconds.

- Accuracy when throwing has been increased by 47%.

- When running, the lighter and Anti-Matter/Sound-Maker grenades will automatically be placed back in the inventory. Also, while running, the player can not use the lighter and Anti-Matter/Sound-Maker grenades (a tooltip will pop-up and notify the player).

- When inspecting an item, the lighter/flashlight and the Anti-Matter/Sound-Maker grenades will now automatically be placed back into the inventory.

- Throwing grenades will now automatically break crouch/stealth movement.

- When running out of Anti-Matter grenades, it will automatically switch to the Sound-Maker and vice-versa.

What's to come by the end of the new week?

I will definitely be reworking the lighter animations from scratch and depending on time, I will either start working on adding a gun or, I will start working on reworking the puzzles in the game (to make them more interesting and engaging.)

Another problem with the game is when the player is holding one of the grenades and picks an item up. The grenade will also be thrown so the player has to manually unequip it to not throw it when interacting with pick-up items. I will fix these issues probably by the end of the week.

Oh, forgot to mention that a Steam Festival is coming up. Oppcium will most likely take part in it, so a DEMO is on the way by the 21st, I believe.

Feel free to reach out and let me know any thoughts you have about the game.
Thanks for checking the game out!

Regards,
Mikami

Oppcium - Build 11251

Hello.

It has been a while since the last update. Life got in the way and I had to focus on other stuff, but I am back now and ready to work some more on Oppcium.

For now, I decided to work more on the first chapter of the game and polish, add new mechanics, make the game the best it can be. I will continue to closely monitor feedback and adjust the game in order to make it more interesting and easy to get into.

Without going too much into detail, here's what the new update has to offer:

Build 12251 - Patch Notes:

- A yellow beacon is now hovering over all lore items.

- Added more tooltips in the "Controls Menu" that state that you can check if you have any grenades by looking at your belt.

- A sound has been added whenever an in-game notice appears on the top-left corner. This is to
emphasize to players that useful information is displayed on the screen. From previous playthroughs, players would go for 30 minutes of game time without noticing the tips popup.

- Fixed the awkward camera bounce on paper, tarps, cardboards, rhubarb, etc.

- Added a new savepoint next to the kitchen.

- Added a lighter error tooltip when the player presses "C" and there is no lighter in the inventory.

- Moved the Data Crystal Blueprint to make it more accessible to the player.

- Moved the Anti-Matter Grenade Blueprint to make it more accessible to the player.

- Increased the volume of the ambiance outside of buildings.

- Fixed a bug with the map where it would not show a certain marker.

- Fixed the issue where the statue puzzle voice lines would not play when it was approached in an unconventional way.

Oppcium Update Build 11248 - Patch Notes

Oppcium Update Build 11248

- Added map markers in the game. This change was added to give players more guidance and to ensure they always have a clear goal. This change was also mainly implemented to make the game more enjoyable and more accessible. The map markers are now present on the Map and they will guide the player from the start of the game to the end.

- All map markers have a tooltip related to what you have to do at a specific location.
- The game will always notify the player when a new map maker is added.

Keep in mind that this change did not take out much of the difficulty of the game, it was never meant to come from puzzles, but from enemies.

- New voice lines were implemented into the game.

- Fixed a bug where Specimen-01 could not see the player properly when hiding in the courtyard behind the grassy squares with the animal statues in the middle.

- Added a map to the inside of the facility.

Expect more updates in the future that will further polish the player accessibility side of the game. If you encountered any issues or have any suggestions always feel free to get in touch.

- The DEMO of the game will be up this week.

World's First & Contest

Hello.

I am making this post, first of all, because someone finished the first chapter of the game. Which is quite a surprise for me. I did not expect someone to finish it in the first week of the launch. I was expecting somewhere between 3-4 weeks. The reason behind that expectation is because of how hard the game is and how much patience, dedication, and improvisation it requires in order to finish it. I was wrong!

With that being said, it's awesome to see someone finish the product that you worked on so hard and for such a long time. It's why I made this game!

Don't expect this to be all the Oppcium will have to offer in the future. Stealth is a core mechanic, yes, but the game will have intense action scenes, mini-games, weapons, more enemies, and other stuff that I do not wish to spoil.

I'm going to leave a SPOLER ALERT and link the video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNl9Fpj0kE4

For being the first to finish the first chapter, artoleonall will receive 3 copies of the game and his name will become an easter egg in the game.

CONTEST

The second reason I am making this post is to announce a CONTEST.

I didn't want to make it until someone actually finished the first chapter. But now that it's done, consider the competition officially open.

The first 4 people to finish the game and record it will get an easter egg in the game.

The first person to acquire the Night Dragon Armor Suit and record it in a video will receive 3 copies of the game and will have an easter egg scientist NPC in the game.

Good luck!
