Atomic Age Update

Hello and welcome to this new update of Orbi Universo, which covers the Atomic Era matching roughly our 1920s to 1990s, and brings official ending points to the game.



The most important addition is the Atomic warfare system. You can now build a nuclear arsenal to have a decisive edge over any enemy but be careful not to end the world in the process!



Atomic Warfare will change World Tension to Cold War Tension, with its own means to limit it.



The Fascists will eventually pop up especially under Revanchism. They can start their own Civil War and power grab.



Factories now have an Efficiency node, you should better develop your Electricity network, Mechanization and not pass too many laws that slows it.



Pollution, Global Warming, and Health-related nodes were added as well.



If you are not currently doing a challenge, 4 endings of the games are now available.
Hegemonic Victory will require that you triumph over your rival.
Conquest Victory will require an indecent amount of land to conquer.
Space Victory will require you to win the Space Race against your rival.
Economic Victory will require you to build an industry so large you can manipulate the world's entire market.



After reaching an ending you can stop there or continue playing. You can even try to fulfill several endings in the same game.

A new cache system will allow even faster loading times, we hope it will help the few people who have loading issues. Please turn it off in the settings if you want to mod the game.



A new challenge in the USA was added, starting in 1929. Triumph over the Great Depression, WW2 and reach the moon!
And of course, to keep things balanced, another one: recreate their arch-rival, the Soviet Union.

Other additions have been made and I'll just cover the basics here as usual.

As stated before, the base game price will be increased from $14.99 to $19.99 in February 2022 (for reference to our other main currencies, price will go up as €16.99 and ¥1999).

Reaching the modern era was a dream when we started the project as a student project.
This last big update will probably be the last one of Orbi Universo. It’s been 2 years of continuous updates that gradually fleshed out the game. We will still support the game, releasing hotfixes and all, but we will stop providing new content to focus on our new game.

Legio Ad Signa is a historical tactical game. It recreates ancient warfare battlefields with a graphically minimalist, non-arcade and in-depth systems approach. You play as a general from Rome or their enemies in the midst of a battle, up to 200k soldiers simulated at the same time. Your role is to organize and lead your army until your enemies rout, and unlike most other games of this style, it will heavily focus on the simulation aspect in which the hierarchy of armies, partially autonomous officers and the non-immediateness of orders are the rule.

Legio is our new game in development currently in pre-prototype step. Our planning schedule is to finish a prototype in 1 year to release it as Early Access in late 2022 or early 2023. Finished game will include a campaign mode depicting the most famous Roman wars from -280 to -45, a free battle mode against AI, a scenario editor and, depending on technical challenges, a 1vs1 multiplayer mode. Available nations will include Pre-Marian and Post-Marian Rome, Carthage, Greeks and Celts.

We will disclose more information about it along the year.

Intermediate Update


Hello and welcome to this small update of Orbi Universo, which brings a lot of small amelioration to the current eras, major design fixes on Nomads and also a lot of Quality of Life improvements.

The most important change is the Nomads rework. A lot of balancing was made, including access to Late Antiquity and Feudal Age eras.



With now a proper smooth transition to a sedentary civilization. Once the time is right, just buy the Settlement node. Land, Tributaries and Authority will be converted.





Military Techs were reworked, and it's now a calculated value, not a flow one. It was also balanced with a rational approach.



A small node package concerning Women's rights (Vote Rights, Emancipation laws, Requisition for Workforce etc..) was included.



WASD/ZQSD support, Zoom rework, and other features were added and bugs were fixed, including an update of the Unity Engine version.

5 new challenges (Athens, Ottomans, Viking Age, Swedish Empire and Meiji Jidai) were added as well as many new achievements for regular games.

A Dark mode is currently under design and will probably be released in January alongside the Atomic update.


To be noted, the game price will be slightly increased from $14.99 to $19.99 in February 2022 (for reference to our other main currencies, price will go up as €16.99 and ¥1999 ).
This reflects the addition of huge chunks of content and features over the past 2 years, and our choice to not make DLC to prioritize a complete game.

Industrial Age Update

Hello and welcome to this new update of Orbi Universo, which covers the Industrial Era matching roughly our 1820s to 1920s. This is an important update adding no less than 80 new nodes and new mechanics.


The new heart of your civilization is Industry. Discover the steam engine, then push it to 50 and beyond to start your first factories. Maintain the flow of raw materials and secure a workforce with large cities to generate a large flow of manufactured goods for trade, civilian use or war.


Technological advancement allows you to unlock modern Agriculture and Medicine. Together, they enable what is known in history as the demographic transition, allowing your population to boom.


The arrival of an Upper or Lower House will create the Parliament. Parliament is elected at regular intervals according to the popularity of the various ideologies among Conservatism, Reactionarism, Liberalism, Socialism and Communism. A lower house tends to reflect the interests of the people, while the upper house tends to favor the interests of the elites, especially conservative and reactionary ideas.


The party elected to power will have control over some of your nodes depending on its party type. Conservatives will prevent you from downgrading religion, liberals will prevent you from passing restrictive trade measures, reactionaries will want to keep a strong military... etc.


Industry will create a working class, historically favorable to unionism and Marxist ideas. It is important to quickly contain working class discontent if you don't want to see your parliament covered with socialists and communists who could even start a civil war if you show a sign of weakness.


You are not alone in this world. With the industrial revolution, a rival to world hegemony appears with attributes of its own, such as size, army, fleet and industry. If the world tension rises too high, expect a world war against this merciless rival.



A new screen is available by clicking above the speed buttons. It will show you some information about your current era but also hints on how to proceed to the next one.


If you didn't notice it on the previous screenshots, the nodes can now have different sizes. While there is a default setting to help you understand the importance of some nodes over others, you can change it at any time. Your change will be common to all your games.


A new type of window has appeared. Some nodes, like Military Efficiency or Devotion will now show you how they calculate their value.


Finally, a small button now allows you to save and load a node group template, so that you don't have to redo the same groups again and again if you keep your habits in your different games.






The update comes with 2 new Challenges, one in the United States, another in the British Empire, each one at a different moment of the industrial era, allowing you to test the new features as soon as possible if you wish.

Other additions have been made and I'll just cover the basics here, we've also fixed some bugs, translation errors and done a lot of balancing. On the other hand, we are aware that a small percentage of players (about 0.5%), experience an unreasonably slow launch due to under-qualified hardware. Despite several researches and attempts on our part, we still don't have any other solutions for the moment, but we are still looking for a solution.

As I said before the expansion is focused on the beginning of the modern era but it's not the only new features, first we will explore the novelties on the previous era

Overhaul of previous era



The allies


The allies can be acquired thanks to diplomacy and they participate in wars to help you win, they will damage enemy forces and push the balance in your favour, but beware they can be unreliable.

Two new social classes



The Bourgeoisie
Appear when the player unlocks the guilds in the Middle Ages, they will give a huge boost at your empire trades. The more your civilization is urbanized the more they will increase in number and influence.


The Peasantry
Appear when around the middle ages when the player unlocks mill
They will increase the output of agriculture.


Colonial interactions
The time where the colony were a separated world, now you can assist their development at the cost of monthly cash and political power, this will accelerate their growth and lower their autonomy desire
On the other end when the risqué of a revolt in the colonies is too high you also can use your mighty fleet to crush the revolution by your colonial Iron fist


Barbarian Threat
This Node will indicate how close you are to have Barbarian at the gate and so to the late antiquity. It helps to be better prepared for this era



The Imperialist era


Of course, you are here for the new era the imperialist era, this era is full of changes that can be considered a break with the feudal ways. The revolutions and mostly the consideration that the people have something to say.
The imperialist era is unlocked with the apparition of Coalition or Hostile Coalition, both will spawn if the player got advanced technology like Musket, ManOfWar, or a hight School of thought.

The Coalition spawn if you are a small state (less than 150 of state size and with a neighborhood rise is high
As long as this node is present both the neighborhood bellicism and the allies nodes get a very high boost.


The Hostile coalition represents a group of smaller countries that band together put you down. It spawns if you are a large state, more than 150 or more than 300 ColonialState.
As long as this node is present the neighborhood bellicism get a very high boost


This situation gives a long period of the game where you will be in a state of war, brace yourself.

The Revolution


The Revolution and how to deal with or against it is of course one of the main focus of this era

How the Revolution
-> It can happen if you have been in the imperialist era and there is no coalition going one
-> If you tax to munch your population they will revolt and possibly fire the ideal of the revolution
-> If the neighborhood is agitated it can spread the revolution ideal and maybe fire a revolution in your country

In this era, you have two factions that oppose themselves
The Revolution Ideal is the representation of the attachment of the ideal of the revolution by your people.


Reactionnairsm is the opposition to the revolution and the defense of the old regime They are mostly growing by your clergymen and in the reaction to the revolutionary reforms


Both organize revolt and seek to size powers if they are influential enough and without the appropriate regime, Monarchy, and derivated for the Reactionary or a Republic for the Revolutionary


Republican reform



Abolition of slavery
Free all the slaves of your civilization

Abolition of serfdom
They have only one value, this will boost the agricultural output but lower your capacity to tax them.


Revocation of the privileges
Will slowly decay the nobility and increase the numbers of bourgeois
It will also make the number of reactionaries explode



Dealing with the old world
To have a perennial republic you will have to deal with the reaction:

By sapping their main source of growing the clergy, Secularization of the society will lower the growth of the reactionaries by the priest and lowering the religiosity of your civilization


By promoting the politic of terror, it will kill part of your people and make sure nobody will ever trouble the republic any more

It will violently decrease your stability and damage your population but ...

Today I have the pleasure to present you our new update focused on the UX.


Shadow node

Now the Nodes that are removed from your civilization got their position remembered, So if they reappear they will at the same place they were dismissed.

Permanant investement
Are you tired of always checking your nodes to keep them at the max? Now you can add a permanent investment, the node will auto-invest to reach the maximum value.




It's useful for values that have a moving maximum value or nodes that vary because of events.
To keep track of the node that could potentially consume is resources a tooltip is available in the resource bar.



When an investment is automatically done that way a signal is made to indicate what node is consuming your resources



Stat Screen
To help you know exactly what happens to your nodes in real-time we made a new screen that you can access in the opening window of a node



This gives access to a screen where you can in addition to seeing the relation between nodes a detailed rapport on what nod affects it, and what node is being affected.



Some interface correction

The dismissed nodes in the shop are no longer related to the speed of the game.

Remember the scientific knowledge that we introduced in the last update? It's your way to unlock the technology needed to improve the navigation of your people, the very first step in global domination.

Once the expedition is over, you quickly understand that this is not India nor even Asia but a new land! And a new node will appear


This node will allow you to place your future colony on the new world (Americas and Australia)


The Colony will be semi-autonomous, they will grow by events, for this early stage, the only interaction that you have is by how much are you taxing them, be warned of the tea in the ocean! You have power for fighting the pirates and influence about the conversions of the natives.


As your global empire grow big, you will be able to count on trade companies that will bring a lot of wealth to your nation, by sometime questionable means...


An era of desolation and invaders for the New World.

The wealth of the empires was taken from us, they came across the seas and burnt or houses and melted our sacred icons.


This indicate that you are in the new world and that terrible event will occur in the future

It begins with the event invaders, it will feed a node called invader forces that will make your life quite hard. This will destroy your stability and increase the neighbourhood bellicism.


The only way to survive in that situation is to create embassies that will decrease slowly this situation. But be ready for a lot of fighting anyway.

An era of fire and steel

War, war never changes... except the way it's conducted! This era saw the beginning of a new form of war with prepared campaign, clear casus belli and geopolitical manoeuvring.

Everything will start with the invention of the arquebus, it will wipe all over forms of conflict and throw you in the new form of war!


This war is marked by a state of war and a state of peace. This status can be ended by a declaration of war activated by the player or by an event.




The war is presented by the force naval and a land force of your opponents, regularly fight will occur, modifying the balance of the war.


The war status is the most important node of this war, higher than 50, your winning the war and will gain in case of peace, down 50 you will loose.

An era of faith and philosopher

This era is the beginning of the fighting between religious authorities and philosopher and scientist, once in the era of discovery all the religious aspect, pantheon, sacrifice and so on, disappear and is replaced by National religion and Religiosity. It represents the influence of religion on your population based on your previous value.


A balancing of the feudal-age

The middle-age is now much easier to attain, with the multiplication of paths to have access to your favorites nodes!

Nomads Update

Hello everyone, after a long time without any updates, there is a small update.

Let's dig in it!

The previous version of the nomads was not very complete. To fix that we come up with more organic evolution.



Now you will have to manage the clans. Clan increase with a large population. Clans will deplete natural resources. You will have to fight them or buy them to federalize them and lead them to a common objective and limit their negative impacts.





You'll also have to manage steppe land and tributaries, the main factor of power as a nomadic tribe. Both are gain in war but, lands will give you more space to your livestock and gaining more food. Tributaries bring wealth but must be guarded closely.



Besides, we change the way migration work and is now way more playable and funny to play.

Middle ages update

Hi everyone.
As promised, we released the Medieval Update. In addition to bringing a new era and the flavour that goes with it. It reshapes and brings some flavour to faith. We will review the important enhancements and the new content in this patch note.

----- Clergy and Faith updated -----

The clergy had an influence a bit loose in comparison of what it was in history. So we wanted to bring a bit more flavour to this part.

Now the clergy will have both a religious head that can be separated from the head of state and a power structure. Reform of your faith will be way more efficient if your clergy is centralized and under your control. Once you achieved that you will be able to do anything with your faith.



In addition to the structure of the clergy, religion is a set of rules and emphasis on certain aspect, craftsmanship, War, farming and others. To represent this, we add the devotions. They give bonuses in fields promoted by religion.


The devotion is the level of influence those aspects will have in the life of your people.

----- Kings, vassals and vavasours -----

The Middles Ages is an era that saw countless evolution, the creation of a new power structure, the feudalism. It will change the structure of the armies, evolving from previous "professional army" to ban and levies more quickly assemble, but less qualified.



The vassals are the main elements of feudal society. They curtail the power of your central power, but in exchange, they will protect their lands, and so yours.


The army changing in the levy, dependent on the quality of your castles and the power of your vassals.

They are unavoidable at the beginning of the Middle Ages but once the situation is stabilized you will need to curtail their influence to regain complete control of the state. In Middles Ages, your mean to control the vassal is to pay them through honorifics titles and court culture.

Nobility is the node that represents the effort to control the nobility.

Another important aspect of the Middle Ages is the mutation of the religion and the clergy position in society. The faith becomes more and more universalist in the Mediterranean Basin, and so became a, if not the major element of geopolitics.

Holy Orders and Holy wars are one of the key aspects of this geopolitical religion.

It's also in this era that most of the oldest universities were built. This building will increase a lot of your capacity to conceptualize mathematics and philosophy. Soon it will become a centre of knowledge.


University and the research will increase the scientific knowledge, small at the beginning, but will grow as huge impact in both the civil sector...


... And the military sector.

The economy of the Middle Ages was centred around corporation and the renewal of trade. It also saw the emergence of a banking system.


You will have to defend the trade roads from highwayman to keep the trade and the money flow.


Banks permit a more flexible way to handle money, expanding way more the maximum of money permitted and allow the player to go in debt.
