Orbit: Satellite Defense

v1.0 launches!

Here it is at last; the 1.0 version of Orbit: Satellite Defense. This marks the end of the weekly updates for the game, but I'll be sure to support the game and upload fixes or changes as necessary. Thanks to everyone who helped improve and refine Orbit: Satellite Defense by participating in the game's Early Access phase!

v1.0 Release Notes:

Fast Forward to v0.5.1

Just small changes this week. Give the new Fast Forward behavior a try; it helps to be able to quickly press and release the key to double the game speed. This is actually how I had a development-tool shortcut set-up, and since it just felt better, I made the Fast-Forward button function the same way while preserving it's "click-to-toggle" functionality.

Orbit: Satellite Defense is on track for it's release date of March 26th, 2018 grab the game now while it's still at an Early Access discount!

v0.5 MEGA UPDATE

If the last couple updates have seemed a little sparse, it's because I've been working to implement a LOT of new features into Orbit: Satellite Defense, and this week they're all ready to go live AT ONCE! Now that I've delivered on all the Early Access goals for Orbit: Satellite Defense, I can announce that the 1.0 version of the game will launch March 26th, 2018! It'll mostly be bug-fixes and polish from this point on unless I get any suggestions for what you'd like to see in the game, so get in touch! Now is your best chance to grab Orbit: Satellite Defense at it's discounted Early Access price before the 1.0 launch of the game.

Score Obsessed v0.4.6

If you're as obsessed with scores and statistics as I am, you'll love the new tweaks in Orbit: Satellite Defense this week. You can now see your cumulative score for each world of the Campaign tallied on its sub-menu, and your score for the full Campaign shown on its respective menu. Plus, you get a nice Completion star for every Campaign world in which you've earned all 15 Stars. Also, at long last, you can now see your local high-score for each of the Endless Modes!

Unlimited Endless Mode! v0.4.5

Mostly internal updates to Orbit: Satellite Defense this week. For a taste of how OSD used to play, check out the new "Unlimited" Endless Mode which lets you construct as many of each type of Satellite as you want. I no longer regard this to be the ideal way to play Orbit, but it is a unique way of playing the game, and I didn't want to crop it out entirely for those who prefer it.

Level Objectives! v0.4.4

This latest build of Orbit: Satellite Defense is a major milestone towards online leaderboards. This required an exhaustive amount of play-testing and restructuring, but each level has been evaluated and given 3 score thresholds which you can try to reach to earn a 3-Star rating.

v0.4.3 Campaign Hot-fix

Seems some last-minute changes to the new Campaign score-screen caused a recurring error. The issue seems to be fixed as of this latest build, but please let me know if you find any errors in the new score-screen. (Or anywhere really)

Early v0.4.2 Update!

Done slightly ahead of schedule; the latest Build of OSD is live NOW along with a brand-new game mode! It's accessible right from the main menu, and I hope you give Warp Mode (called "Range Limit" in-game) a try! This new mode was inspired by feedback from players on Steam. Don't forget, you can submit feedback about the game using the Google Form linked at the end of the post.

Early v0.4.1 Update!

Due to a delay in publishing the game live to Steamworks this morning, I had a little extra time to add in a few more features:

v0.4.1 Release Notes:

  • The Solar Satellite can now Super-Charge the Magnetic Mine dealing 6 points of damage on detonation (up from 2)
  • Pressing "Back" when viewing a Main Menu Sub-menu will take you to the previous Menu instead of closing it
  • Campaign Planet previews & description now fade in and text is printed out
  • In Campaign: Changed Pause menu button to read "Restart Level" instead of "New Game"
  • Added Button in Campaign Pause Menu which lets you repeat the "Explanation"
  • Updated Pause Menu text

Look forward to another update within a week of the game's launch!
