Patch 10.9985 Notes (A lot of bugfixes!)

We rolled out a patch this morning that includes the following:

  • Fix for the desyncs being caused on server and client
  • Fix for certain class items showing up during dragon racing (EX: Musketeer Lifewell orb, netgun, etc. showing)
  • Attempted another fix for Boss 1 leashing inside the Ancient Temple dungeon
  • Lowered some attack values on new lvl 30 bosses to be more in line with other dungeon bosses when doing shard dungeon runs
  • Fixed “Stuck Combat” button, should now work as it did before
  • We fixed an underlying issue that we think may of also been causing the stuck combat bug in the first place so feedback on this would be greatly appreciated (You can continue to use the in game bug reporting tool for these)
  • Updated some weapon and mount icons
  • Attempted fix to prevent monsters from disappearing inside the Abandoned Cave dungeon when fighting around the mining carts (Monster should now just path through the carts)

– Some things we could use feedback on in the form of the In Game bug reporting tool –

Anytime the Ranger “Critical Spots” are not clearing properly and sticking around even after being hit.

Anytime you are stuck in combat from PVE combat

Anytime you still get desyncd (We believe our fix should hopefully solve the majority of these but would like to track them all down)

Anytime you see VFX stuck in the air not clearing properly (Runemage spells, Musketeer effects, etc.)

Anytime you get a hard crash (Orbus application shuts down on its own and brings you back to desktop of Oculus home for quest)

– A few things we will be working on in the near future include the Tinkerer profession, Player House Customization, Valve Index controller positioning, Scoundrel Ultimate re-work, Player resurrection re-spawn timer not showing properly, Crashes and any desyncs still around. I do not have a time frame on any of the items above but wanted to let the community know what some of the things we will be working on soon. There will be a blog post next week going in depth into the upcoming content as well as announcing when the Tinkerer profession and Player House Customization will be released.

Patch 10.998 - Two New Dungeons, Shard Dungeons System Increased to +15

Today's patch increased the two new level 30 dungeons - The Abandoned Mine and The Ancient Temple. Along with that comes an increase to the endgame Shard system, increasing the upper limit to +15 with new mutations to challenge you, and new gear to acquire.

The patch also includes a shard vendor to trade in equipment shards, and a new questline for a luxury mount.

  • Abandoned Mine dungeon now available, access through the Scav’s Den cave in the Wastelands
  • Level 30 dungeon un-matched, currently not part of the Random Dungeon Queue
  • Ancient Temple dungeon now available, access through entrance near Bears Hollow
  • Level 30 dungeon un-matched, currently not part of the Random Dungeon Queue
  • Trash mobs in both new level 30 dungeons have a chance to drop a piece of transmog only gear from the set of “Conqueror Gunner” gear (Based on old Orbus Muskteer Spiro gear)
  • Level 30 Dungeon gear will be the “Conqueror” set of gear (Based on old Orbus Mage,Ranger,Warrior Spiro gear), along with a new set of weapons.

  • The “Scav Shaman” boss must be defeated to gain a key into the Ancient Temple Dungeon
  • There is a small chance that all Lvl 30 bosses in the new dungeons will drop the “Mining Cart Mount”

  • Shard Level 11-15 has a chance to drop the “Challenger” set of gear
  • There are new legendary weapons that have a chance to drop from shards 11-15, with a greater chance as you progress up shard levels

  • Shard levels 11-15 will not include Airship Dungeon, but will include the rest, with shards 14 & 15 having an increased chance of rolling the two new dungeons (but will still include the rest excluding the Airship Dungeon)

  • New Minor shard mutations will be included in the pool active on all shards 1-15
  • New Minor mutations are: Afflicted, Hot Foot, Fatigued

  • The Legendary weapons given out in shards 11-15 will be a new weapon model different from those given out in 1-10

  • There has been a “Shard Vendor” added to the Rainforest camp, once you complete the Explorers League questline to help the camp the Scav trader will appear next to the newly built huts.
  • This allows you to trade up shards all the way to Effervescent Shards.
  • It costs 10 Minor for 1 Major, 15 Major for 1 Glimmering, 20 Glimmering for 1 Effervescent
  • The icons of the different shard levels have been changed to avoid confusion

  • There is a “Ottathamine Merchant” located at the Leisa Port inside Hulthine’s Basin that sells the “Luxury Mount”
  • Must have the Explorers League questline to help Port Leisa before his shop will appear

  • New achievements have been added for completing higher tier shards along with achievements for the Lvl 30 dungeons
  • Added a fix to Fellowship Chest logs that should only show movement in and out of the chest instead of item movement inside players own inventory

We hope you enjoy the new content, and we look forward to showing what else we've been working on!

Upcoming Content: New Dungeons, Shard Increases and More

While we are all sad to see the fall colors disappear from the area, along with the mischievous Brezurple Snatchers, the festival was a success and Highsteppe will now have food for the upcoming cold days ahead.

Thanks to everyone that participated in the event! We were able to gather good information in game, along with feedback from the community that will help us as we plan the next festival: the Skygring, which occurs a few months after the Harvest Festival. This festival will see some of the same changes as the last, with changes to the terrain, plants and wildlife. We will take some time to go over all the feedback we have received as we finalize our plans for the festival, and will share more details in the coming months over what is in store for the citizens of Patreayl.

In Game Bug Reporting Tool

I wanted to also take a second and thank everyone that is using the Bug Reporting tool in game. By switching to this system we have been able to track, collate, and rank the bugs that are current in the game. Based off these reports we have been able to make some progress into the de-syncs, as well as some of the causes to the stuck combat issue. We have made these issues a top priority and hope to have some fixes in place in the coming weeks, to solve some if not all of these issues. I appreciate the community's continued support of the game and the Dev team while we work through these issues.

Oct 8th Update

Looking ahead to October 8th, we will be releasing the next two dungeons, as well as the Shard Dungeon increase of 11-15. The two new dungeons will be level 30 dungeons with unmatched content, and will not be part of the random dungeon queue. (You will have to travel to the dungeons to enter them). There will also be a mount that will be available through a new quest in game, although this mount will be the most expensive to date.

Luxury Mount

Ever wanted to move around the world in style? Wanted to sit back in a plush seat while you take in the vistas or stroll through the Highsteppe marketplace?

Now's your chance! Recently imported through the new Port Leisa inside of Hulthine's Basin, these Luxury Mounts are being sold inside the town of Highsteppe. Speak with the Ottathamine Merchant NPC, who has set up shop next to the future Highsteppe Furniture store, to start on the quest to acquire one. But be warned: the merchant is more interested in trading and Dram than they are making the world a safer place through monster killing, so be sure that your pockets are full of Dram before attempting this quest.

Abandoned Cave Dungeon When most of the citizens of Patreayl fled to Highsteppe, a group stayed behind and chose to fend for themselves in the Wastelands. This group, known as the Scavs, took over a cave that outsiders have dubbed Scav's Den, where they discovered an abandoned mining tunnel. Although it's unknown what the Scavs have unearthed inside this cave, rumor has it they found a creature from the not-so-distant past lurking in its depths...

For those players that had a chance to play original Orbus, you will see a familiar sight when entering this dungeon. The Dovregubben boss has made a return, as well as a new enemy, the Gate Keeper. You must kill the Gate Keeper to steal the key and unlock the door at the end of this dungeon.

Ancient Temple Dungeon Although a Temple by name, this dungeon seems to have a much darker history. Dating back to the time of the Esasa, you will find concrete slabs and manacles, as well as holding cells inside—although it looks like whatever was once contained has now broken free.

To enter this dungeon you will first need to unlock the entrance by killing the Gate Keeper at the end of the Abandoned Cave dungeon. Once you have stolen the key, you will then need to travel to the area known as Bear's Hollow inside Hulthine's Basin to find a way into the Temple that has not collapsed with time. Once inside, trust your party members to fight alongside you to defeat the experimental Mist Keeper, but beware as this creature can fill the room with poisonous gasses, leaving even the hardiest hero gasping for breath.

Dungeon Gear

By completing these dungeons you will earn your chance to claim a new set of gear. Based on the gear of the old "Spiro" set, this gear has been fortified and strengthened to withstand the higher levels of Essence Radiation that are now present in the region. You will earn the Cloth (Old Runemage), Leather (Old Ranger) and Plate (Old Warrior), and with a quest have the chance to earn a transmog (Old Musketeer).

Shard Dungeon Increase

Along with the two new level 30 dungeons, we will also be increasing the Shard Dungeons to level 15. This content is meant to be challenging to even the most experienced players in game.

Shard levels 1-10 will remain the same, while Shards 11-12 will have 2 minor, 2 major and 1 Brutal mutation. Shards 13-14 will have 3 minor, 3 major and 1 Brutal mutations. Shard level 15 will have 3 minor, 3 major, and 2 brutal mutations. One example of these new mutations is "Time Bomb", a major mutation where a bomb will appear on the back of a random player, and their teammates must remove and throw the bomb away from the group before it explodes and kills the party.

Note: The new Shard mutations will only take effect in Shards 11-15. None of the new mutations will be active for lower Shards.

Along with the increase of mutations throughout the Shard leveling process you will also encounter new shard mutations specifically designed for shards 11-15. In addition, the Airship dungeon will also be removed from the rotation for those levels, and the two new level 30 dungeons will be the only two dungeons at Shard level 14 and 15.

Shard Dungeon Gear

Those completing Shards 11-15 will also be rewarded with a new set of gear.
Along with the new gear set you will also have a chance to acquire the weapons dropped from the new level 30 dungeons, as well as a chance at a new Legendary weapon.

We are still finalizing at which shard levels this equipment will drop, as well as the item level of the items, and we'll have more to share closer to the release date of this patch.

We hope these new Shards along with the new mutations will give the end game community something to fight for, along with new gear and legendaries to strive for.

Future Updates

Looking ahead, we are really excited to start talking more about the upcoming crafting profession, the Tinkerer. With the help of new blueprints, you will be able to start crafting some new exciting items in Orbus. Find the right blueprint from a boss drop and you can craft your own mount, or buy a blueprint off an NPC and craft a picture to hang on your wall.

A few weeks after tinkering is introduced, we will be releasing the Player House Customization patch, which will allow you to take some of the furniture you have been crafting in the Tinkerer profession and decorate your house with it. You will also be able to go to the newly opened Highsteppe Furniture Store to shop for what a local merchant has for sale, along with special furniture that may only be purchased after unlocking the Achievement associated with it.

While I know the community will have lots of questions about the Tinkerer profession and Player House customization, we will have all the answers in a blog post in the weeks following the Oct 8th patch. We are excited, and look forward to seeing the pictures of players' interiors, along with the community's feedback to the Tinkerer profession.

Thanks!

August 6th Patch Preview - Interactive Map, Lvl 30+ Perks, Lvl 30 Warrior talents, Shaman changes

Next week on Aug 6th we will release a patch with some exciting new content. I wanted to take some time today and go over the upcoming patch in more detail.

Interactive Map

We are excited to introduce a new interactive map. We are hoping this will make it easier for new players to find their way through the new world, along with those more navigationally challenged veteran players. With the map you will be able to view the current zone, along with the overview of the world. You can then pick from the Point of Interest list to set a beacon that will appear like a white beam in the world to guide you towards your destination (similar to the public event beacons.)

To open the main map screen, use the laser pointer and click on the spinning globe at the top left of your vision.

At the bottom of the main map screen are buttons for “Zone” and “World”, which can be used to switch between the map specific for the area you are in or the World map. When the Zone view is highlighted you will see on the left panel all the POI for that zone. Switching to the World view changes the list on the left panel to all POI in the game. By selecting a POI from the list (or by clicking on the POI beacon on the map itself) you can set a way point which shows as a white beacon in the 3D world.

On the map itself you will see a flashing white arrow indicating your position along with player rotation. You can leave the large map up while walking if you wish, or set the beacon and start heading in that direction. The map window itself will close when you enter combat, so you will need to re-open it if attacked.

This is the first iteration of the map. We have some ideas for additional features we would like to incorporate, along with updating the map from player feedback.

Lvl 30+ Perk Tree

We are excited to add some additional QOL improvements that are earned through the game, and hope this will be a good reward for the end game players after they reach Lvl 30.

The tree is broken down into 7 categories meant to be some QOL improvements without affecting combat game play. Within each category there will be 5 levels.

Luck: Can increase your luck stat by a maximum of 500 points

Mount Speed: Can increase your mounted speed by a total of 10% max

Weight Capacity: Can increase your carried weight by a total of 5 lbs max

Potion Making: Can increase your chance to make double potions up to 25% max

Lure Crafting: Can increase your chance to make double lures up to 25% max

Potion Aging: Can increase the over aging window up to 48 hrs max

Vendor Discount: Can receive a maximum of up to 10% discount in price on all NPC purchased items (Odds N Ends, Dragon Shop, etc.) (Does not include auction house)

You will receive 1 point for each level gained after 30, with the first perk in each category requiring 5 points, then 10, and so on. You can choose to spread your points out between all the categories or you can place them all in one to get the maximum benefit. If you have already over leveled past 30 prior to the patch roll out you will be able to assign those points already earned.

Updated Lvl 30 Warrior Talents

Based off the feedback we received after introducing the current Lvl 30 Warrior talents, we have re-worked the talents into the new talents: Over Heal and Counter Attack.

When you have the Over Heal talent selected, all healing received while the Warrior is at full health will be partially applied to the Warrior shield health. This also has diminishing returns so if you use a big burst of healing over a short period of time (like all healing orbs at once) then it will not be as effective as keeping the tank topped off and using your orbs more spaced out.

The Counter Attack talent charges your last successful combo and stores it on your weapon after a successful block. So you would do a normal combo, block an attack, and the last combo you did will be charged on your sword, allowing you to attack again. There is a cool down on the Counter Attack talent.

We are excited for players to get to try out the new talents and will take player feedback and make adjustments once we get some in game data.

Shaman Changes

Along with the other updates in this patch, we are also implementing some changes to the Shaman class. You can now see the Shaman mask in 3D on other players around you.

The Shaman shield totem will also now have a role in the rotation of some Shamans. When deployed the Shield will do an AOE buff to the nearby players giving them a temporary shield buff, allowing for additional survive ability when playing solo. Along with some added utility while playing as part of a party. The last change we made was calculating the re-spawn timer for the thrown orbs, now starting the re-spawn timer from the time the hand releases the Orb, instead of when it hits the enemy.

OrbusVR Transmog Gear

We will also be rolling out a few sets of the original Orbus gear that were earned while playing the game in Early Access before Reborn's launch. These will be available to anyone who previously had unlocked them in their transmog wardrobe along with anyone that still has them in their inventory (must be broken down to transmog.)

If you are a newer player, or never completed a few sets from the previous game, fear not. You will be able to earn a similar set of Spiro and Techno gear from the upcoming Dungeons we previously mentioned.

Patch 10.99 - New Hair Styles, Barber Tokens and Bugfixes

Hi, here are the patch notes for this afternoon's patch:

  • Added Barber Shop Tokens to the Odds N Ends shop in the Higshteppe Underground Marketplace to allow character refresh (changing of character appearance)
Note: You can only purchase on Barbershop token at a time, once purchased log out of the game. At the Character Select screen select your player name, you will then see the “Change” button, clicking this allows you to then adjust your character. Be sure to save your changes once finished adjusting.
  • Added 5 new hair styles
  • You can see the new styles without purchasing a Barbershop token by clicking the “Create New Character” button at the log in screen
