Visual changes

Hello, everyone.

You may have noticed that there has been a difference in the game logo. We've had some changes in the game beyond that.

The series logo changed because I saw the need to adapt the same visual identity to all games from now on, and this way things can be more unified.

In the game, there was a difference in the icon besides the title screen.

But the most important change was the character Caos' sprites. I updated them to a version identical to his iteration in Order from Caos 2.

I hope you like the visual changes.

Until next time.

3 side quests you should do in Order from Caos

Wow... Long time no see.

In June, Order from Caos will celebrate its 4th year of publication. Since then, I've published one game per year: Hidden Shelter (2021), Backroom Beyond (2022), and Order from Caos 2 (2023). Order from Caos was the greatest school I could have had to learn game logic, programming, and now I'm focusing more on the Unreal Engine. I still have a lot of affection for RPG Maker MV, but I believe I need to broaden the scope of my games. There's something good coming. However, let's talk about now. I wrote a post on the Order from Caos 2 page discussing side quests that I think are important for players to experience. Taking advantage of the opportunity, I decided to do the same with Order from Caos. See if you agree with the choices.

1 - Byakko

This was the most difficult side quest to create. It has many variables and two different endings. It's a story about love and possession at first sight, but in the end, it's about revenge and protection. It's the side quest with the most emotional appeal in the game. It was painful to write because I had to think about the entire lore for it, and it was challenging to program.

2 - 30X Woods

This, for obvious reasons, may not be a very popular side quest. It asks the player to find 30 pieces of wood obtained by killing a certain type of monster that is in agony. These woods are found in the creature's stomach. The problem with this side quest is that it's a quest to collect a certain number of things and take them to an NPC. In Order from Caos 2, I focused on improving side quests to avoid this. But then you might ask - If you don't like this side quest, why did you include it here? I think it's because I want to remember what never to do.

3 - Fallen from Space

This is a side quest that few people have been able to complete. It's really difficult. In the final part of the game, we can enable this side quest. It's necessary to go to the desert and find a hole in the ground caused by a meteor that brought a creature from another world. I chose this side quest to finish this post because when I created it, it would be a link between Order from Caos and a possible sequel to the story. In fact, there's a fully written text with the story from beginning to end. But, I don't know when it will be possible to turn it into a game. My intention is to produce the next RPGs in 2.5D using the Unreal Engine. So, I know it will take a while to achieve, but who knows if the future will be kind enough to allow me that sequel? Without giving too many spoilers, only Tina and Joh would initially remain in the main group. There would be new characters and something falling from the sky...

Well, that's it. I hope you enjoyed it. Order from Caos is a story that moved me a lot while writing, and I hope it was an exciting experience for those who played it. And for those who haven't played it yet... feel free to play and have fun.

Until next time.

Order from Caos 2 is 10 days away!

Hello, everyone. This is Renan, the game developer of Order from Caos 2.

I'm exhausted but very happy. The game is complete, and now I'm working on translations for other languages. It took years to produce this game, and I hope all of you, my friends who enjoy turn-based RPGs, can have fun with Order from Caos 2.

For those who already know, you'll be aware that the game has no relation to the first one. So, you can play without fear. Everyone will start without knowing anything.

I'll be honest here, making games is exhausting, but it's so rewarding. While playing the game to test some bugs, I got emotional because I felt like the characters were alive. It was as if they were my actual companions. I wrote the story in 2006, started turning it into a game in 2020, and I'm only publishing it now. It's a joy and a relief to be able to share this story with you.

My only wish is that we can exchange ideas about the game and the characters that inhabit this world.

In the original Order from Caos, some talked about how satisfying it was to defeat nihilists. In Order from Caos 2, the fight is against domination, against those who control. It can be control over regions, people, or the future.

Anyway, I wrote this because I wanted to proudly share with you that Order from Caos 2 is officially ready and will be officially launched at Brasil Game Show, the largest game event in Latin America, for an audience of over 300,000 people.

We've had over 16,000 downloads of the demo. I can't wait to chat with you when the game is out.

Buy the game here on Steam. See you in the next update.

See you in the next update.

Until next time.

They have also greatly contributed to the creation of Order from Caos 2, which will be released on October 11th.

I want to thank each and every one of you for your support, and I hope we have many more years to celebrate together.

We are all fans of RPGs.

Backroom Beyond is going to be available in July. Add to your wishlist

Backroom Beyond is a first-person game that mixes puzzles with single-player adventure in a dark, harrowing environment that makes the player question the protagonist's sanity. Based on the internet myth, Backroom Beyond goes further and makes the player wonder if that journey is about something more personal than anything else.

The narrative has two main points. Drawings tell part of the game's story on the walls. The drawings have no defined authorship, which gives them an extra degree of strangeness. The second point is the existence of The Guide, a being that instigates the players to think about their actions in real life.

The game basically has one objective throughout its 40-level journey: place the red box over the red button and open the door to the next level. It seems simple at first, but it's not. Each environment has its own logic. If the players feel frustrated because something went wrong in their strategy, they can press the “wake up again" button, which will return them to the beginning of the level.

Each scenario has a part of the story to be told, whether in the subway, in the snow, in the house, or in an actual backroom. Each place has its dose of tension and wonder.

The theme song chosen is Pérolas Irregulares (Irregular Pearls) by the band Terceiro Mundo Bom (Third Good World), whose clip has many similarities with the game's project.

“I created this game because I could bring my contribution to the world of backrooms, which I was fascinated by. This myth has everything to do with the stories I tell about the existence of realities and universes that coexist and can collide. The story I set out to tell in Backroom Beyond is fragmented in a way that the player will need to interpret many of the elements. After all, who is The Guide? Who wrote on the walls? Has anyone been there before? Is it possible to leave?”, says Renan Barreto, creator of the game. “And being able to put in the game the song Pérolas Irregulares played by the band Terceiro Mundo Bom, which I'm a fan of is incredible. I could not be happier. The song and the video match very well with the proposal of the story and I would say that both complement each other”.

Backroom Beyond will be available on Steam on July 8th for Windows PC.
