Version 0.34 is already on Steam and it includes the following major updates:
Arcade mode
Arcade mode (sandbox) is now available! New Arcade Mode will allow you to fight waves of enemies in randomly generated Space Rifts.
It’s just the first version and we will develop in future releases.

To support arcade mode, we have implemented Game Settings screen:
Balancing
Normal, Hard, Veteran & Ace difficulty levels are rebalanced to be easier.

Hello!
Update 0.33.06.00 has been released and available on Store now. The update includes the following:
Steam Trading Cards
We have added Steam Trading Cards.
Collecting each card for a game will allow you to craft a badge, earning you experience.
Destroy Anima quest fix
Anima encounter can now be correctly reentered.
Sandbox mode preparation
A number of internal fixes and improvements were implemented to prepare to significant Sandbox mode update.
We expect to release Sandbox mode about 23-MAR-2018.

Our regular update on status and plans of the game development.
ALREADY RELEASED
Let's start with what has already been implemented:
Balance. Balancing of the game was significantly reworked, improved and released on 22-JAN-2018. See Update 0.33.00.00 announcement for more details.
Gamepad support. Gamepad support including full ship control and object interaction has been implemented. To interact with the main menu and in-game menu you need to use a mouse. See Update 0.33.01.02 announcement for more details.
A number of improvements and fixes. We hear you! And we do our best to make Origin Space better. Update 0.33.05.02 brings a number of improvements and fixes based on your feedback. and
DEVELOPMENT PLANS
Our reviewed and updated development priorities are as follows:
Sandbox mode
A sandbox mode will allow players to travel around the game world without bounds of the campaign story. We expect to release this feature about March 12, 2018.
Online cooperative mode
We plan to release a version with online cooperative mode support in early April 2018.
Engineer player class & Crafting
Among the priorities of future development we see the following:
To add one more player class Engineer.
To implement crafting of items.

‘I’ button in inventory now opens a window with various secondary stats

Various scout ability visuals improvement (Charge Integrator, Guided Charge, Accelerator Unit, Hi EnergyBlast, Stasis Field, etc.)
Friendly NPCs now open portals before despawning
Active Event pointers sometimes disappeared

Gamepad support in accordance with Steam Partial Controller Support is at the final stage of development and testing.
It will include full ship control and object interaction. Some interface interactions (like store, inventory, etc.) will still require using of mouse.
We expect to release the update on February 06, 2018.

Released: Balance improvement
Balancing of the game was significantly reworked, improved and released on 22-JAN-2018. See Update 0.33.00.00 announce for more details.
It was just fist iteration of balance improvement. Based on players' feedback we plan to continue work on developing the balance of the game.
Upcoming release: Gamepad support
Gamepad support in accordance with Steam Partial Controller Support scheduled to release on 02-FEB-2018. It will include full ship control and object interaction, but interface interactions (like store, inventory, etc.) will still require using of mouse.
Based on your feedback and wishes, we have reviewed and updated our development priorities in the following way.
Sandbox mode
A sandbox mode will allow players to travel around the game world without bounds of the campaign story. We expect to release a sandbox mode in the first half of March 2018.
Online cooperative mode
We plan to release a version with online cooperative mode support in early April 2018.

Update 0.33.00.00 has been released and available on Store now. The update includes the following:
Balancing
As we promised earlier based on your feedback, we have significantly reworked and improved balancing of the game. In comparison with versions before this update, you should expect the following changes in your experience:
Levels from 1 to 10 (approximately) - minor changes from previous version
Levels from 11 to 35 (approximately) - difficulty will gradually increase as the level increases
Levels over 35 - significant increase of difficulty
Note! For existing characters it may be a good idea to upgrade items (e.g. by visiting the store) to make sure you are prepared for battles in conditions of reworked balance.
Certainly it is just fist iteration of balance improvement. Based on your feedback we plan to continue work on developing the balance of the game and release more updates.
