We are constantly scouting for new recruits for the Orwell Project. But, as many of you have legtimately voiced, our surveillance effort would never be able not realize its full potential as long as it didn't include more languages.
This changes today! The Government of The Nation has spared no expense to present you official localizations of the Orwell software in
German
French
Spanish
Russian
Chinese
as well as an unofficial localization in Portuguese (Brazil), put together by some of our most loyal citizens on translate.orwell-game.com. Note that more languages will be added through future updates.

The Public Localization Beta has started!
Investigators,
We’re stoked to invite you to the Public Beta of the localizations of Orwell: Keeping an Eye on You! These last months we put a ton of work into the project and it has proven to be much more effort than we thought initially thought: To make it happen, we had to rebuild large portions of the game from the ground up. Thank you so much for your patience sending positive feedback our way! :)
Since a lot of rework comes with many things that might go wrong, we’d like to put the current game state to a public test, for which we need YOU. As you know, many vigilant eyes will spot much more than only a few!
For instructions how to join please read on.
Languages included
This public beta includes the following languages:
German (Deutsch)
Spain (Español)
French (Français)
Russian (Русский)
Simplified Chinese (简体中文)
Languages from the public translation project at translate.orwell-game.com will be added in later updates (by the way, you can still help bring Orwell to your language there!).
How to join the Beta
Whoa, easy now: If you never played Orwell before, you definitely should wait for the final public release of the localizations for the best experience. The final release shouldn’t be too far off now.
Moving forward, you’ll have access to a fully playable IN-DEVELOPMENT BUILD, which means:
YOUR EXISTING SAVEGAMES (PROFILES) MAY BECOME CORRUPTED!! Please make backup copies of those (look for them in Documents\My Games\Orwell folder). We do not kid.
There are unfinished, not proofread, and missing translations.
There may be bugs and technical issues preventing game progress, possibly permanently.
Note that we can’t provide support for the Beta or repair broken savegames from it.
You can find a list of known issues here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CdVXT1mZ8so2w8NsgmThCgRowO0BgZ5aidAf8BMNGYY/edit?usp=sharing
To access the beta build, open up your Steam library and find Orwell. Right click it and select “Properties…”, then “Betas”. Enter the password ‘PublicLocaBeta’ (without ‘’) and confirm by clicking “Check Code”. There should now be a new option in the dropdown menu above named “public_localization_beta”. Select that, then wait for Steam to finish updating Orwell.
Done! Fertig! Et voilà ! You now have access to the Beta!
Reporting issues
It’d be great if you could report issues while you’re at it! Please go to the following Google form to report them: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdZrT1ViBYmS9Ujdty78EJE4VNFSU8sCyvA-spv_N-ubgUSwg/viewform
