Outbreak: Epidemic v1.7 Patch Released!

We're pleased to announce v1.7 of Outbreak: Epidemic has been released. This patch includes improvements to the camera system - namely allowing you to set camera distance and height! You can change these directly in the Options menu or change them ingame via the new key bindings (check the Controls menu)!

This patch also includes some fixes to the Tom model to adjust how he holds both the Handgun and SMG to make aiming more natural. It also includes some item text fixes to clearly denote melee weapons only usable by Renault.

Thanks again for playing! Remember - if you're enjoying the game and feel it deserves it, please consider filing a positive review. If you hit any issues, please reach out to me before filing a negative review as I may be able to help fix it! :)

Outbreak: Epidemic v1.62 Patch Released - Single-player Balancing!

We're happy to announce v1.6 of Outbreak: Epidemic has been released! This patch greatly focuses on improving the single-player experience.

When playing in Single-Player Mode, you will now have a much larger inventory by default to offset your lack of teammates. Characters like the Renegade will still get their inventory buffs, but now this makes most of the other characters viable!

In addition, on Easy and Normal difficulty, you will now find more supplies on both Realism Mode and Arcade Mode, and encounter fewer powerful enemies when you're assaulted by mobs. This primarily took the form of reducing the number of Reptiles thrown at you at once in set piece moments.

Thank you everyone for your feedback! We've had an awesome week of growth for the game! Remember - if you're enjoying the game, be sure to leave a positive review and share your thoughts. If you hit issues, bugs, or have feedback, reach out to me anytime before filing a negative review - I might be able to help fix it quick!

Also, we pushed a quick patch v1.61 that allows you to disable the Weather in the Options menu. This may help with lower-end computers trying to run the game. Enjoy!

Note 2 - We just released v1.62 which fixed the issue where changing your player side (left or right) in the main menu didn't work correctly.

Outbreak: Epidemic v1.5 Patch Released - Realism Mode!

We're happy to announce the v1.5 patch for Outbreak: Epidemic is released! This release contains a major new feature - realism mode - based on the huge amount of feedback we've received.

Please post feedback on Realism Mode here!

This patch includes:

  • Realism Mode - This brand new way of playing Outbreak: Epidemic notches up the realism by significantly boosting headshot damage - meaning many standard enemies could be killed in a single well placed headshot. But as a trade-off, you now have much less resources to work with. You need to make every bullet count if you want to survive. Advanced monsters can still take a beating, but your only way to defeat them is by going for the head! NOTE: Like the old way Epidemic played? It's still available - just switch back to Arcade Mode in your game lobby!
  • Fixed an issue where quick weapon switching could happen while menus are up.
  • The blood effects when you take damage are now toned way down and will not obscure much of the screen.
  • Weapons now zoom in when aiming.
  • A rare issue where flashlights would become very dim is fixed.

Outbreak: Epidemic v1.4 Patch Released!

We're happy to announce Outbreak: Epidemic v1.4 has been released. This patch includes new functionality that has been highly requested - the ability to always face the camera and to switch the side your player appears on. Keep submitting feedback!

Remember, if you're enjoying the game and feel it deserves it, please consider filing a positive review and sharing your thoughts. If you hit any issues, please reach out prior to a negative review to see if we can address your issue!

This patch includes:

  • Players can now change their view to always have the character face the camera direction. You can set this setting in the Options menu or change it during gameplay anytime via the new key binding. NOTE: If you played Outbreak: Epidemic before, you will need to either reset controls to default or manually bind to use this functionality in realtime.
  • Players can now set their player position on either the left or right side of the screen. You can set this in the Options menu or change it during gameplay anytime via the new key binding. NOTE: If you played Outbreak: Epidemic before, you will need to either reset controls to default or manually bind to use this functionality in realtime.
  • The music toggle in the Options menu now clearly displays whether the music is enabled or disabled on the button text.
  • You can now bind the B button on your gamepad in the Controls menu.
  • Weather effects now follow properly in spectator view and correctly shut off when your spectated target is indoors.

Outbreak: Epidemic v1.2 Patch Released!

We're pleased to announce Outbreak: Epidemic v1.2 has been released with some highly requested features!

  • Players can now equip/switch weapons realtime without using their inventory in the Handgun, Shotgun/SMG, Power & Melee categories via new bindings. NOTE: You need to either reset the game controls to default OR bind these functions if you've played Outbreak: Epidemic before. Inventory cooldown times still apply on weapon switching.
  • Players can now sprint using the new Run binding. Players have a limited amount of stamina that allows them to sprint which automatically recharges when they are not sprinting. NOTE: You need to either reset the game controls to default OR bind the Run function directly to use it.
  • Player movement speeds have been adjusted. When aiming or crouching, players move at reduced speed. Players cannot sprint while aiming or crouching.
  • The default key bindings for Keyboard & Gamepad have been changed due to the new functionality above. It is highly recommended you reset your controls to default in the Controls menu if you've played Outbreak: Epidemic before.
  • All weapons are now available for trial on the Tutorial scenario.

Outbreak: Epidemic v1.1 Patch Released!

Hi All,

Thank you for all the feedback everyone has been sharing over the past day since release. It's been great to see so many folks playing and enjoying Epidemic.

I have taken some time to go through as many of the reviews as I could and gather up some quick fixes to help improve the game experience (like mouse sensitivity, volume settings, glare intensity and more!). Other areas I'll be working on next include weapon switching, and a few other hotly requested features.

In the meantime, enjoy the fixes in v1.1 which is now available.

  • Game version bumped to v1.1. You must update to play with other players running this version.
  • Minor buff to player movement speed. NOTE: This will continue to be evaluated, including potential run functionality, in future patches. The goal is to find the middle ground where movement feels swift but players do not have too great speed versus their enemies.
  • Mouse sensitivity added to the Controls menu.
  • Game Volume can now be more discretely set from 0-10. NOTE: You will need to reset your volume to your desired level on next game load if you've played Outbreak: Epidemic before.
  • Enemies can no longer be incapacitated prior to death. The first time an enemy is knocked down, it is truly dead and will not reanimate.
  • Player damage buffed on Easy (+35% total) and Normal Difficulty (+20% total).
  • Lowered the intensity of general environment lighting in many locations.
  • Lowered the intensity of the player's flashlight.
  • Lumberjack life leech changed to 20% per level.
  • An additional Aid Spray added earlier in the Outbreak scenario.

Getting Started with Epidemic

Welcome to Outbreak: Epidemic. The first time you load up Epidemic's F2P version (without the Premium Content DLC installed), you'll be faced with a tremendously difficult decision. You'll need to pick your survivor - a permanent choice that you'll need to live with as long as you stick to the F2P version of the game. The survivor you pick in the F2P version will only have access to their starting class and can only level up to Level 4.

Note: You can unlock access to ALL characters, classes and the ability to start games on Biohazard or Nightmare difficulty by purchasing the Premium Content DLC.

It is highly recommended that you take a minute to visit the "Characters & Upgrades" screen before making this selection. You can view all of the character classes there and their starting stats. Your choices on the main menu are:

  • Gwen - Survivor Class
  • Tom - Marksman Class
  • Kara - Reporter Class
  • Renault - Renegade Class

What's the difference between the F2P version and the Premium Content?

In a nutshell, the F2P version allows you to play on ANY game mode or scenario either alone or with up to three additional friends. The limitations in this version is that you are forced to select a single survivor and you can only level up to level 4. You also cannot start games on the Biohazard or Nightmare difficulty BUT you can join other games hosted by users on those difficulties. Essentially in the F2P version - you can always play with your friends - no matter if they're on F2P or have the Premium Content installed.

Why did you choose to restrict these portions of the game in the F2P version?

Restricting the characters, classes and higher difficulties options, but allowing you to play on any game mode, scenario or join all games was designed to ensure that everyone has plenty of content to play and to help grow the player population. For folks who enjoy the game and experience, they can choose to upgrading using the Premium Content DLC and gain full access to all characters, their classes, the ability to level up to level 10 and start games on Biohazard or Nightmare difficulty.

What can I expect as the game continues to develop in Early Access?

You can expect more scenarios for Campaign, Onslaught and Experiments modes. New enemies, weapons, items and more. Polish to the entire game experience will continue, including gameplay tweaks, performance enhancements, etc... And best of all, we want YOUR feedback to determine how to prioritize this work and what you'd like to see added. Feel free to sound off on our Discussion Boards!

Have fun and make sure to tell your friends! We're looking forward to surviving and growing this game experience with you in the year to come!
