Toward the end of next week (Nov 12-15), we will be deploying the next patch for the game. This will include the following:
Performance improvements through a new video encoder for menus, the theater, and the FMVs in the game
Memory reductions across the game to improve performance on lower and mid-range machines
Adjustments to performance settings
Minor bug fixes
Then, in December, we're going to launch our next season: Winter Wonderland!
This season will include a new character, a new scenario, and new cosmetics to unlock via seasonal challenges!

Halloween Arrives in Cypress Ridge! Seasonal Event on NOW!

Even in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, it's important to celebrate the holidays. Our first seasonal event, Halloween, is live now! Here's what you can expect to see:
Cypress Reel is even spookier!
Looks like the theater has gotten a bit of a makeover! Enjoy a variety of Halloween-themed decorations all around our lively hub world. There are jack-o-lanterns aplenty, and...wait, who is that? Those eyes are scary...
What's Halloween without costumes?
By completing Seasonal Challenges, you can earn Seasonal Tickets! Use these at the Seasonal Gotcha Machine to get all kinds of spooky cosmetics!
What sorts of creepy customizations will you earn? Get your Survivors suited up for a night of trick or treating with unique hats and weapon skins!
Fight from dusk 'til dawn in Invasion Mode and Raid Mode!
Can you defend a sprawling medieval castle against an unending horde of monsters? Hop into this Invasion Mode map and hold down the fort...literally. Check out the Raid Mode variant, too; it's a long journey to the extraction point on this one!

After three years of hard work, we are thrilled to launch Outbreak: Shades of Horror on Steam Early Access. Thank you to all of you who have followed the game’s development and sent us encouragement!
Outbreak: Shades of Horror launches today at an initial price point of $29.99 USD. Please note that international pricing may vary. The Early Access launch version of the game includes the following:
Modern Survival Horror: Find and manage resources, engage in modern gunplay and melee combat, build contraptions and defenses, and much more as you do battle with the scourge of the night. Quickly switch between third and first-person views at the push of a button to hunt the undead the way you please! All of the game’s content is available both offline in single-player and in online co-op over the network. Password-locked lobbies and in-game text chat are both supported in online co-op play.
Cypress Reel: This expansive hub world serves as a gateway to the content of Outbreak: Shades of Horror. Join a lobby, switch between available Survivors, get acclimated to the game’s controls and weapons, redeem and customize clothing and cosmetics, and access core game modes in both offline in single-player and in online co-op over the network.
Raid Mode: Save civilians and make it to the extraction point in this action-packed gauntlet. Defeat enemies to find important weapons, ammo, and items, but don’t take too long; as you spend more time in one of many maps, enemies become stronger and deadlier.
Invasion Mode: The undead are closing in on your position, and you need to defend the innocent denizens of Cypress Ridge! Fortify your defenses with buildable traps, turrets, and stations before hordes of zombies come to ruin your day. Make sure you protect your Furos generators, or else you’ll find yourself without the resources to stay alive as the action ramps up. Enjoy unique modifiers that keep the experience fresh every round!
Mini-Games: In between matches, hang out in the Cypress Reel Arcade to enjoy a host of frenetic mini-games! Can you survive the Boss Rush gauntlet? Will you be able to skip a creepy rural town in Looming Dread? Test your reflexes as you escape a flooding subway tunnel in Collapse! Experience a taste of the chaos plaguing Cypress Ridge in Main Street Retro. While short and sweet, these mini-games will put your skills through drills! Plus – with adjustable difficulties, there are always new challenges to face.
Chromatic Split: Enhanced Edition: Enjoy the classic three act prequel to the main game, now enhanced with new weapons, items, and mechanics. Can Lydia get essential information from her contact in the Cypress Ridge underground before it’s too late?
Trials of Hank: While Lydia is traversing the underground in Chromatic Split, fan-favorite Hank hits the rooftops in this over-the-top side campaign where the answers to all of life’s problems are lead, explosions, and more lead! Will Hank complete his mission, or will the monsters that haunt the Cypress Ridge skyline be too much for him to handle?
Photo Mode: Access a rich set of tools and controls to take frighteningly beautiful snapshots of your adventures at any time. Offline, the action will pause so you can stage detailed scenes and scout your surroundings, whereas online the action will continue so your co-op partners don’t suddenly find themselves unable to play. Film at your own risk!
Twelve Unique Playable Characters: Choose between a diverse cast of playable Survivors with different classes, abilities, stats, and loadouts. When playing as any character in any mode, your progress levels up that character and also helps complete challenges. You’ll earn XP, Ferret Tickets, new items and weapons, and other surprises as you play more and more!
Plenty of Unlockable Content: As players progress and level up their characters, they’ll find ways to unlock all kinds of customizations: earn shirts, glasses, hats, weapon skins, and even whole outfits. Once unlocked, any cosmetic can be used with any playable character in any combination; the possibilities are endless!
Challenges and Events: Seasonal and game-crossover events begin immediately with a Halloween celebration and DINOBREAK-themed content and cosmetics. Players can enjoy fun decorations in the theater, thrilling seasonal maps, special challenges to complete, and unique rewards to earn. In addition, test your mettle with Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Lifetime challenges.
That’s a fleshy feast of content. Purchasing Outbreak: Shades of Horror during Early Access will entitle you to future updates such as additional content for existing modes, new seasonal events and game-crossovers, and Story Mode once it’s available.

DINOBREAK Crossover Character Pack DLC: Mary and F.S.G. join your playable character roster ready to chew up the zombie plague. Outbreak: Shades of Horror Early Access Version Launches on October 24th!

We are excited to announce the official roadmap for Outbreak: Shades of Horror’s initial release and beyond!
Getting to this moment has been nearly five years in the making, and we are excited to give our loyal Survivors a first look at Cypress Ridge. We are kicking things off through the release of a Steam Early Access version of SoH. We consider this version a sneak peak - or a Jump Scare - of what’s to come.
Players will be able to access gameplay from our base of operations: Cypress Reel. Once the town’s movie theater, Cypress Reel is now a bustling headquarters for our scrappy Survivors.
At Cypress Reel, players will be able to switch between available Survivors, get acclimated to the game’s controls and weapons, redeem and customize clothing and cosmetics, and access the core modes SoH has to offer. During the sneak peek, two of our main modes, Raid and Invasion, will be fully playable both offline in single-player and online in co-op over the network.

While there are lots of free customizations to earn, Survivors also have a chance to earn Ferret Tickets. With these, you can shop at Ferret’s Emporium, the only remaining post-apocalyptic retailer in Cypress Ridge. Shirts, glasses, hats, weapon skins, and even whole outfits – you name it, Ferret’s Emporium has it all! Redeem Ferret Tickets at Cypress Reel’s many gacha machines to earn and freely use all of them to customize each of your Survivors as you see fit.
Cypress Reel will evolve alongside Shades of Horror as it grows and expands. You can look forward to seasonal and game-crossover events. At the launch of SoH’s sneak peek, our first season will be Halloween, and our first DDS game-crossover will be with DINOBREAK. You’ll be able to not only enjoy fun decorations in the theater, but also special challenges to complete, some with unique rewards.
But wait; there’s more! At the sneak peak’s launch, all players will have access to both the online multiplayer and the single-player, offline versions of SoH: Chromatic Split and Trials of Hank.

This is just the beginning of our roll-out for Outbreak: Shades of Horror. In the future, the game will be available on Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 as previously announced. We do not yet have a timeframe for the console versions’ release, but you can expect to hear more details in the future.
The Early Access version of Outbreak: Shades of Horror will launch for PC via Steam on October 24th at a price-point of $29.99 USD.

4P Co-op and Raid Mode Debut TONIGHT on Twitch!

We've been hard at work on Outbreak: Shades of Horror over the past several months, jamming in new features such as an elaborate costume and weapon skin system, reinventing our melee weapon systems, adding a massive number of new weapons, creating new levels and maps, and so much more!
This is just a quick note to let you know we'll be going live on our Twitch channel at 7:15pm ET TONIGHT with some 4P co-op madness over the network and a first look at Raid Mode! We'll be leading into this with the conclusion of our Resident Evil 5 co-op playthrough, so expect the Outbreak: Shades of Horror party to start around 8:30pm ET!

Today, we're going to break down the game's modes and hub area for you! The entirety of Outbreak: Shades of Horror can be experienced either solo or with up to three friends in co-op play over the network.
This playground is where you and your friends can group up and enter the game's various modes! You can select your character (across over 25 options!) and practice your controls, and you can also test your mettle at the obstacle course, improve your combat prowess, check out the game's various abilities and items, and so much more! Over time, Cypress Reel will expand with new content and special events!
Story mode
This is the survival horror campaign you're all expecting! Manage your resources and inventory, defeat menacing zombies, solve puzzles, and find notes as you explore colossal maps with awesome set-pieces and challenging encounters. Each episode will play out in explosive fashion, with multiple routes and many secrets to discover.
Invasion mode
A different flavor of survival. You'll face down endless enemy hordes as you attempt to both live and protect innocents. Before the game begins, you have a small period of time to fortify your base with turrets, traps, and more. Once the creatures appear, you'll need to annihilate hundreds of them without losing all of your lives or your civilians in the heat of battle. Multiple maps will be available!
Raid mode
This arcade-style experience is a blast. Scout sprawling, tight maps, take on the undead masses, and rescue trapped civilians before time runs out! As with the rest of Outbreak: Shades of Horror, Raid mode will be updated with new content and maps over time. Fans of our previous games may even find some fun nods to our history.
Mini-games
For some quick action, check out a selection of extra game types inspired by classic survival horror masterpieces. From Boss Rush, where you'll face a parade of tough monsters, to Collapse, where you'll flee a nasty subway on the brink of destruction, these scenarios are fun to play through over and over. Look forward to new mini-games as the game continues to grow!
