Hi everyone, we have released a new update for Outliver: Tribulation (v1.0.4.1) where we worked on general gameplay and difficulty balance tweaks.
Combat difficulty - we reduced both health and damage output for all enemies across the board and other aspects to help players last longer and understand the enemies, thereby having more fun in combat.
Gameplay Pacing - we increased the interval between the wanderer's attack waves so players have more time to explore and solve riddles making the gameplay a bit more relaxed.
Riddles - we made the riddles more easier to understand by adding clearer instructions as well as making the clues to solving the riddles much easier to understand. We also drastically reduced the damage players take from failing a riddle.
Aside from the above, we made some other minor tweaks here and there, all of which we hope will make the gameplay experience more fun, so make sure to download the update if you have already downloaded the game to get the best experience.
Best regards. Mudathir

Outliver: Tribulation is a story-driven survival horror action third-person shooter where you play as Bolanle Gboyega a soldier who mysteriously finds herself in the Realm of Tribulations, a supernatural realm of African mythology where she soon discovers she has to undergo an ancient ritual in order to regain passage back to her realm… or so she thinks.
During the cause of your journey, you get to uncover the mystery behind the Realm of Tribulations through exploration by reading lore notes, solving quest riddles and meeting with various characters who will help to shed more light on the ongoing events, while also facing off against ferocious and deadly enemies who relentlesy stalk you in the realm... In order to combat these threats, you will have at your disposal your skills as a player and some charms which can be found across the realm with varying effects.
The lightning charm brings down lightning bolts on enemies while the explosive charm sends out a radial shockwave that stuns all enemies within range. The shield charm protects you from attacks enabling you to take more hits than usual while the health charm heals you. Apart from the health charm, saving your game also restores health. All of these charms can also be upgraded to get boosted effects.
Aside from the charms and your conventional firearm, you will also have access to an ancient weapon known as the Eldergun which is also upgradeable for boosted effects... The Eldergun has two firing modes which mimicks the shotgun and rocket launcher weapon classes respectively.
It also gets dark in some parts of the realm just before battle breaks out... To help with this, your character, Bola comes equiped with night vision goggles which you can toggle on and off any time to see better.

Outliver: Tribulation | Dev update #13 | More Tweaks + Steam Achievements!
Hi everyone and welcome to this development update on our survival horror game, Outliver: Tribulation where you play as a soldier who mysteriously ends up in the Realm of Tribulations, a supernatural realm of African mythology where she unwillingly has to undergo an ancient ritual in the hopes of regaining passage back to her realm.
Following our last developer update, we received great feedback and have since gone on to make more tweaks to the game as we continue to polish it, and in today’s dev update, we’ll quickly go over some of the changes and tweaks we have made.
First, we added a teleportation portal to the guardian’s arena map where the boss fights take place to allow you to leave the map before the battle starts if you feel you are not yet ready to face the guardian. This way, you have a choice to take on the boss fights only when you’re fully prepared and ready by upgrading your characters upgradables. Previously, you would be stuck here if you saved the game in the mystery passage leading to the guardian’s arena and would have to defeat the guardian before you can continue the game.
We have also added Steam achievements to the game for players who love the extra challenge. We didn’t plan on implementing Steam achievements initially and instead chose to go for an in-game grading system that gets displayed when you complete the campaign but after much thought, and especially as we got close to launch, we decided to add the achievements for the completionists and hardcore players. As a result, we have added over 20 achievements for you to beat.
Moving on, after careful consideration of some very useful suggestions from the community, we added a mouse and gamepad look sensitivity adjustment option to the game settings to help players fine-tune the sensitivity of their various controllers.
On the aesthetic side of things, still based on recommendations from the community, we added ripple effects to water surfaces when you walk over or shoot at them in order to add to the realism. We also added blood splatter effects on the dead bodies lying on the ground if you for some reason choose to shoot at them.
In general, we continued with combat and gameplay balancing tweaks whilst also testing and hunting for bugs so be sure to check out the demo we have on steam, wishlist, and recommend Outliver: Tribulation to friends and family if you haven't already.
Also, don’t forget to join our newly launched discord server where we continue to keep the conversation on Outliver: Tribulation going. We’d love to have you there and hear what you have to say, so please take a minute to join by clicking the link below. https://discord.gg/czHZwNkMb6

Outliver: Tribulation | Dev update #12 | More Tweaks + Discord!
Hi everyone and welcome to this development update on our survival horror game, Outliver: Tribulation where you play as a soldier who mysteriously ends up in a supernatural realm of African mythology and unwillingly has to take part in an ancient ritual.
Following our last developer update and subsequent demo update release, we received a ton of interesting and useful feedback. In today’s update, we’ll quickly go over some of the changes we’ve made so far.
First, we made some tweaks to the combat and ammo availability to balance out the difficulty and reduced the requirement for obtaining the Eldergun so players are able to acquire it much earlier in the game.
We repositioned the charms’ cooldown, health, and spirit essence bars as well as added an ammo display for firearms when the aim button is pressed.
We added unique crosshairs for all firing modes of firearms and added a gunfire recoil effect as well as updated the rifle fire sound.
In order to give players a sense of progression, we added a popup that displays each new chapter a player just started.
We made some tweaks to the menu and the main menu now sports a live background as opposed to the previous use of a static background picture.
Following various suggestions, we reworked the night vision system by removing the binocular effect displayed on-screen and increased the light exposure. We also added a quick fade-in and fade-out effect signaling activation and deactivation of the night vision.
We updated the loading screen by adding a background image and included brief pop-ups of random tips on how to play the game.
In general, we made minute tweaks to the whole game and will continue to test and hunt for bugs. We also hope to announce a release date soon and have updated the demo on steam to reflect these new changes, so, be sure to check it out, wishlist, and recommend Outliver: Tribulation to friends if you haven't already.
Moving on from updates, we are pleased to announce that we have just launched our own discord server to keep the conversation on Outliver: Tribulation going. We’d love to have you there, so please join in using the link below.

Outliver: Tribulation | Dev update #11 | New Milestone!
Hi everyone and welcome to this developer update on our survival horror game, Outliver: Tribulation where you play as a soldier who mysteriously ends up in a supernatural realm of African mythology and unwillingly has to take part in an ancient ritual.
Ever since our last developer update, we’ve been hard at work, updating and reworking some features of the game as we try to make sure it gets finished and released this year. Aside from some gameplay tweaks and optimizations, here are a few major changes we’ve implemented.
Thanks to recommendations and suggestions from the community, we have reworked the charms systems. As opposed to the charms being single-use items which are extremely limited in number throughout the whole game, you now only have to pick them up once and use as much as you like through the rest of the game with a cooldown period to prevent spamming. We find that this new approach makes the charms more useful in combat which in turn makes gameplay more fun.
The health charm was also pretty redundant since player health auto-regenerates. To counter this, we removed the health auto regen function, and this made gameplay more tense. Aside from using the health charm to regenerate health, the player’s health also gets refilled when you use the save terminal to save your game progress or after you defeat a boss.
We also worked on making the game feel more atmospheric by rebalancing the sound effects, ambiance, and music while also adding dynamic fog to the world.
On the optimization side of things, we successfully updated the project to unreal 5.1 from 5.0 in order to take advantage of the new performance optimizations that come with the update. We also reworked the in-game settings to make sure they’re up to date and provide better performance when you choose between the various quality settings.
We also added a player grading/scoring system at the end of the game campaign for players to gauge their performance and maybe try again to get a better result.
Finally, we are pleased to announce that Outliver: Tribulation is now playable from start to finish, in order words we have hit the Beta milestone. All that is left is to add localizations, clean up the project, continuously test, balance, and tweak the game as we receive more feedback and also port to other platforms.
As always, we’ll continue to share more information with you as we progress through the game’s development. Until then, kindly wishlist and recommend Outliver: Tribulation to friends and continue to share with us your thoughts and feedback about the game.
That would be all for now guys. Thanks so much for sticking around, and hope to see you in the next one. Happy gaming.
Outliver: Tribulation | Dev update #10 | Visual Overhaul + New Features
Hi everyone and welcome to this developer update on our survival horror game, Outliver: Tribulation where you play as a soldier who mysteriously ends up in a fictional supernatural realm of African mythology and has to take part in an ancient ritual.
We have been hard at work implementing a host of changes to the game and taking into account the amazing and thoughtful feedback we received from the community in the steam fest event of October 2021.
We upgraded the game to unreal engine 5 from unreal engine 4 in order to take advantage of the new performance and visual features like Nanite and Lumen among others. As a result, we ended up rebuilding the world from scratch and are pleased with the new look we have achieved so far; let us know what you think once you’ve had a feel of it.
For new features, we finally added voiced dialog sequences to the game during which the player still retains complete control of the camera.
We added a new powerful weapon called the Eldergun which has two firing modes; a mode where it acts as a typical shotgun and another where it acts as a rocket launcher. For its ammo, we repurposed the stamina system we previously removed for the running and diving systems and now refer to it as the spirit essence.
We also added a brand new player upgrade system which allows you to upgrade gameplay elements ranging from player health and spirit essence regeneration speed to improving the effectiveness of the various charms and Eldergun damage.
We overhauled the Map/Inventory system to now display useful information including points of interest like locked areas and important items, as well as player characters’ thoughts and current story arch.
On the gameplay side of things, we have replaced and added new mocap animations for certain action types. We also tweaked the timing and speed of certain actions to help make everything feel more responsive. The teleportation system has also been upgraded. Now, all you need to do is to walk into the beam of light in the newly redesigned portal structure to teleport.
Unlocking barriers now involves interacting with certain terminals as opposed to previously interacting with the barriers directly. This was done to make the world have more man-made elements to it.
On the combat side of things, we have updated and added new enemy types as well as made them more aggressive and challenging.
As for performance optimizations, we are actively working on making sure the game is as stable as possible and this will continue till launch.
We will be sharing more information as we progress through the development. Until then, we are pleased to announce we have released a new Demo on steam for you to try out which will be available for a limited time, so, please check it out and wishlist it if you haven’t done so already. Also, kindly recommend it to friends and continue to share with us your thoughts and feedback about the game.
That would be all for now guys. Thanks so much for sticking around, and hope to see you in the next one. Happy gaming.
