I added the ability to switch which hand is holding which item (gun/paddle) with the Application Menu button. On the Rift Touch controllers, this is the B or Y button, on the hand currently holding the gun. On the Vive, this is the button above the touchpad (on the gun hand).
This wasn't a big deal on the Vive, since you can just move the controllers freely between hands, but was necessary for the Touch controllers, since they're fitted to your left and right hands.
Also updated the engine to Unity 2018. I believe I fixed all the bugs this introduced, but if you run into anything, please post something in the bug forum here, and I'll try to fix it right away. Thanks!
Oculus Rift Support verified!
Oculus was kind enough to send me a Rift to test with as part of their Oculus Start program, and I have verified that the game works with the Oculus Rift as is. I will soon update it to allow switching hands, since the Oculus Touch controllers are fitted to left and right hands.
Version 1.04 - Single Controller Play now possible
I have added the ability to play with only one controller. When you pull the trigger, your gun will appear, and when you release it, your paddle will appear. It will use this mode automatically if only one controller is detected. It will switch to two-controller mode when the second controller is turned on. Also fixed a bug where it would have problems using your Vive controllers if you have a gamepad (e.g. xbox controller) plugged in when you start the game. Fixed a few other small things.
As always, let me know if you run into any issues. Thanks!
Updated to 1.03
I upgraded to the latest Unity engine, which may or may not include some performance increases for you. This did make some changes to the physics engine, though hopefully you won't see any difference. I also made some small changes to prevent some rare errors. As usual, let me know if you run into any bugs, and I'll fix them right away. Thanks!
Permanent price drop
Paddle Master VR has dropped to only $4! Great price for Racquetball/Breakout fun in virtual reality!
New Achievements!
I just added a bunch of new achievements! Also, the stats screen now shows your leaderboard ranks and number of achievements achieved under Lifetime Stats. I also changed the function of the leaderboard button, so now there's one screen of stats, and one screen showing both leaderboards, and the button just switches between the two. It makes much more sense than the old system.
I also made a slight update to the tutorial, but I think I'm still going to overhaul it at some point in the future.
There will probably also be some more achievements added in the next update, such as achievements for keeping multiple balls going simultaneously, and things like that.
Enjoy!
Updated to v1.01 - User Experience improvements!
Several improvements to the user experience have been made, based on watching several people play the game recently:
1. If a ball is shot directly into the walls/floor outside the white play area, it is automatically loaded back into the gun. This way inadvertent shots fired while figuring out the game don't cause the levels to advance and the player to lose.
2. Shooting the buttons on the menu directly will trigger them. It was found to be more intuitive to shoot the buttons than to tap them with the gun or paddle. The buttons only trigger if shot directly... they do not trigger if a ball hits them after bouncing out of the play area.
3. Balls now make a small visual burst when hitting outside the play area, so it's more obvious visually that they are gone intentionally.
4. Added an option to the Audio menu to switch between speakers and headphones. Previously, positional audio only worked properly with headphone on. Now, if it is set to speaker mode, the positional audio should sound approximately correct when using surround sound speakers instead of headphones. Headphones is still the default setting.
5. Music volume and speaker settings are now saved between play sessions, so they don't have to be reset each time.
Hope this helps your enjoyment of the game, and don't hesitate to post bug reports or feature requests here in the community. Thanks!
