Workaround To Make Paper Cut Mansion Run On Your Steam Deck!
Heya Friends,
As you can see on the product page, Paper Cut Mansion was rated "unsupported" for the Steam Deck. Installing the game on a Deck, starting it and pressing any gamepad button will make the game freeze.
Unfortunately, this is not just an issue in Paper Cut Mansion, it's a problem that a hell a lot of Unity games are facing at the moment - and that is really damn frustrating! On the Deck, the games automatically launch under Proton 7.0.4, and that causes the freeze.
There is a simple workaround that allows you to change the Proton version to 6.3-8, so Paper Cut Mansion will work fine on the Steam deck. Just follow these instructions from Windows Central:
Select your chosen game from the Steam Deck library carousel.
Navigate to the settings cogwheel on the right side of the game page and select it.
On the pop-up game settings menu, navigate to and select Properties.
In this game properties screen, choose Compatibility from the left-side menu.
Check the box titled 'Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool.'
From the new drop-down box underneath, select Proton version 6.3-8.
Return to your game and check for updates if it doesn't happen automatically.
Fingers crossed that the problem will be fixed soon. We will of course keep you updated and submit the game for review again asap!

It's Wednesday, friends!
Do you know what that means?! Tomorrow is Thursday! Ha ha, yeah, you knew, right? And tomorrow is the day, that we at Space Lizard Studio have been working towards for five years! Incredible but true: Paper Cut Mansion will be released tomorrow! Finally! ːsteamhappyː
Until now, we have been very busy polishing the game even more, but slowly we realize how little time is left until the release. And now, slowly but surely, the nervousness is building up... And that's why we can't get a straight sentence out today anyway. But we would like to take this opportunity to give you all the important facts and figures about Paper Cut Mansion and its release tomorrow. So...

Halloween is close, and with this it's time for the spooky Steam Scream Fest. Learn more about the creepy side of gaming and check out a bunch of spooky demos, broadcasts and releases!
And Paper Cut Mansion even has all three points, ha ha. The game will release this Thursday, October 27 - right in time for the Scream Fest and Halloween as well. Until then - and beyond - you can watch us play the game in more detail in the broadcast on the product page.

Paper Cut Mansion Supports Razer Chroma, Sweepstakes Live! 🐍
Halloween is close, friends!
And Halloween is not only the time of spooky Steam Scream Fest, it's also the time of dim candlelight and the glowing-grinning grimaces of Jack O'Lantern! And - as the release is only two days away - it's also the right time of creepy Chroma RGB illumination in Paper Cut Mansion!
At RazerCon 2022 on October 15 we officially announced the Paper Cut Mansion release date plus Razer Chroma support. So, in the case you own Razer Chroma peripherals (or you win them - more about that later), you will notice very quickly after launching the game that the RGB Illumination responds to it. "Neat, but why should I need that" you think? Fair enough! But let me explain why in our opinion, a spooky RGB illumination is a perfect fit for our spooky papercraft roguelite.
The core of Paper Cut Mansion is - of course - the namesake mansion. There you puzzle, fight and investigate the various floors. Each floor has a different theme and contains portals that lead you to alternate versions of the same location. And each of the three dimensions has a base color: The NeonCortex Dimension is purple, the Reptilian Complex is red and the Limbic System Dimension is blue.
And so, of course, it's a simple one, that the color mood of the game can be perfectly extended beyond the monitor by illuminating your Chroma peripherals: mouse, mouse pad, headset and keyboard. And in case you use LED strips or compatible ambient lights, you can immerse the whole room in the threatening red of the Reptilian Complex Dimension or the icy blue of the Limbic System Dimension. This has a pretty cool (LOL) effect!
Atmospheric illumination? Check! Plus we experimented with more different Chroma effects that are triggered by certain actions in the game. But I don't want to tell you too much about it here. Finally, it won't be long until Paper Cut Mansion will be available, then you can see the Chroma support for yourself.

Behind The Cardboard #01: The Paper Cut Mansion Arises: From Drawing to 3D!" ✏️
Heya friends!
It's me again, Gabriele! As the release of Paper Cut Mansion is getting closer each and every day (October 27!!! ːsteamhappyː), I want to see you prepared for all the spooky dangers, that await you on the various floors of our cardboard mansion.
That's why I will tell you more about our papercraft roguelite in the upcoming days till the release with our little making-of update series "Behind The Cardboard" - starting today with the first chapter "The Mansion Arises: From Drawing to 3D!". Enjoy!
So, this is a sneak peak behind the scenes, behind the curtain, behind the cardboard. In this process I show you how our paper craft horror is made and how we craft our hand drawn world. I literally grab a piece of paper, draw some weird shapes on it (that only I understand apparently) with just standard pencils, no need of fancy expensive posh pencils, just the ones that a kid would use.
Once I am done with the drawing I scan the sheet of paper and import it in PhotoShop for the color touch. Then I "fold" it using the 3D software Blender exactly like as I would fold a paper cutout (in fact you could take this very texture from the video and make your own real paper crafts). The whole thing then is imported into Unity for some animations and boom - it takes life!

RazerCon: Paper Cut Mansion releases October 27 - incl. Razer Chroma support! 🐍

You have been asking for quite some time, and finally we answered. Did this just a few seconds ago. And we did it with a BANG: At awesome RazerCon 2022, we officially announced the release date for Paper Cut Mansion: It's October 27, 2022! ːsteamhappyː
Exactly, that's quite close! And quite close to the spooky 'trick or treat' time of the year. Perfect fit for a creepy roguelite, right?! Oh, and maybe there's some pumpkin headed guest in the mansion... Who knows!
And some additionally awesome news for all you fans of the three headed snake peripherals out there: Paper Cut Mansion will support Razer Chroma RGB illumination for its release. Fancy, shiny, spooky! We are going to tell you a bit more about that closer to release. So stay tuned and keep your eyes open!

Get in the paper shoes of Toby, a police detective arriving at a mysterious old mansion. Explore the first two floors as you seek to unravel the story behind this bizarre place... You can't unravel it in the demo of course, but you can dive deeper into the roguelite floors of the papercrafted mansion.
