Patch #12 - Rework Physics

Heya everyone!

As some of you may have noticed, there has been a new update to Party Crashers! (bit of a delay between the update and the news, so I apologies). We have been busy working hard over the last few weeks, fixing numerous bugs, improving stability and framerate, adding more features and redesigning a bunch of stuff!

This will most likely be our final update (bar some bug fixes) before our fabled release later this year, so we made sure we crammed as much as we could, with Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud saves being included!

Please make mention of the updated system requirements. We now only support 64bit Windows OS and we will unlikely to change that before full release. The recommended settings have been updated too, suggesting at least a decent CPU and graphics card (although we have been optimizing a ton, so minimum specs should still be playable :) )

Patch #9.36 - New Years

Hey everyone! The first patch for the year! We have been very busy over the Christmas break, working on many behind the scene bug fixes, improvement of systems and added some new modifiers. Come check out this patch!

We are always looking for your feedback on the game and want to hear from you guys directly. Be sure to voice any suggestions you have on the stream discussions or our official discord at discord.gg/giantmargarita

Patch Notes
Additions
- Player Customisations
- Changeable Player Colours
- Afterdeath: Pickup Point
- Afterdeath: Remove Pickup Point
- Pickup: Brick Wall
- Pickup: Favourite
- Modifier: Constant Acceleration now has multiple modes.
- Modifier: Speedmode / Damage Amount
- Modifier: Speedmode / Speed Threshold
- Modifier: Speedmode / Frequency of Damage
- Modifier: Car "Fill In" (allows you to have neon lines or not).
- Map: Normal Arena
- Map: Block Arena
- Map: Circle Death Wall Arena
- Map: Moving Platform Arena
- Map: Rotating Ramp Arena

Bug Fixes
- Drafting now has some extra tolerances (so you can draft past someone)
- A bunch of internal bug fixes and refactors. The vehicle controller has had some cleaning to help maintainability.
- The cameras are more efficient. Their effects have been slightly reworked and now perform much better.

"Speed" Mode and Bug Fixes

The latest patch is now live on Steam, featuring the content from today's stream. "Speed" Mode has been added, which adds a speed threshold that if you drop below, you will start to take damage (by default, enough damage to instantly kill you). Modifiers for this include:
- the speed threshold (defaults to off)
- the amount of health removed per second (defaults to 100).
(Coming soon for this feature is a modifier for the rate at which health is reduced, as well as more game modes combining this feature with other modifiers other than the one we have added. This mode may also undergo a name-change so as to not reference the movie *Speed*)

Photo mode has been improved (you can use L3 to move the camera faster, and controller support is now better but not perfect).

In addition a big stability patch has been brought in. The most recent patch a few days ago destroyed a lot of things through the Player-Chosen Options. These options started erroneously turning themselves on, resulting in some players experience random turning on of Reversed Steering (you may have seen this in the stream), or changes in size and clearance. This has been resolved, but also a design decision has been made to take away the ability to choose your own size, reversed steering, constant acceleration etc. as these options allow players to give themselves an advantage too easily. These options were only enabled before for testing. Remaining options are:
- Car Model (not size)
- Car Horn
Favourite-weapon pickups are no longer enabled in this menu either, and will be replaced by a new system in an upcoming patch (you can still set these via Custom Game > Weapon Pickups).
Options to be enabled in future patches will include Player Colour, Hats, and Favourite Weapon.

Twitch and Discord Integration, Light Bikes, Trailers, Bombs, and everything else.

Our Steam announcements have been quiet, but we have been doing weekly updates, and announcing these on our Discord Channel ( https://discord.gg/giantmargarita ). We're going to be better at posting to our Steam page from here on in!

A big new experimental feature we've added is the ability to link the game to your Twitch channel, and viewers can type commands in the chat window to mess with you in the game (all commands can be found at
http://partycrashersgame.com/twitch ). Only some commands work (car model, size), while many others are still being tested. Let us know what works, what doesn't, and what twitch integration we could add via the forums or Discord!

Since the last Steam announcement, we've added light bikes mode. Now you can leave a trail of mines (or bananas) behind you in this new fun wacky mode!

We've also added trailers (not videos, literal trailers) containing things like boats, shipping containers, etc. You can start with any number of trailers, or run through the Add Trailer pickup to collect more trailers (like Snake!). You can drop trailers on your frenemies using the Drop Trailer pickup.

The Bomb pickup will make you explode within 15 seconds... unless you hit another player, transferring the bomb to them (thanks Supersmo for the idea!)

We have the start of a selection screen which lets players choose their own options even if they aren't player 1. This feature is again experimental, and we're going to be improving this in the coming weeks.

Other modifiers and content:
- Some graphical improvements to the default map
- The AI have gotten smarter at using pickups
- Constant acceleration
- Left only, right only steering (with more to come)
- Starting direction (can start backwards, left, right, forward, anywhere inbetween including random)
- Track clearing

We have also added Discord Rich Presence, so now you'll have a lovely presence on discord when you are playing Party Crashers.

Keep an eye on the Discord and our weekly streams showcasing new content!

AI Added (aka Friend Substitutes) + Discord Details

Heya everyone who bought this game at PAXAus, we've just patched in an update for you! (Everyone else, you won't know any different ;))

For those of you without friends, or those who just want to test out the game solo first, we've added a rudimentary AI for non-player cars. They'll do their best to stay on the track and use powerups (but they're pretty stupid at the moment). Remember, Party Crashers is best experienced with friends, the AI are simply substitutes.

We've also implemented a couple of fixes to the tracking camera.

Thank you to everyone who played the game at PAXAus, we had an absolute blast. Seeing the looks on people's faces as the nostalgia of the great racing games of the past washed over them was truly rewarding for us. We are going to do our best to honour the likes of Wrecked/Mashed/Micro Machines (and Indy 500 and Supercars and Nitro and Racing Destruction Set) while also putting our own Giant Margarita spin on things (all the customisations!).

Our Discord server is the best place to throw as many new ideas at us as humanly possible. We'll be listening, replying, and usually implementing your requested features and bug fixes. There's even a roadmap which lists what we're currently working on, planning to do, and already completed.

We want to make the content of this game determined by YOU the players, and what YOU want. Make your voice heard on the discord: https://discordapp.com/invite/eyaAmfM
