Summer Language Update

Bonjour my fellow artists 🍷🥖

In our home of Sweden, we’ve just celebrated midsummer which marks the longest days where the sun barely sets! Soon the whole team will be heading off on some well deserved summer holiday. Have you made your summer plans yet?🏖️ For me, we’ll be taking the baby on the road a cozy trip around the country. Good food ✅, chilling ✅ and carefree existence ✅.

To celebrate the summer and the season of travel we’ve added a bunch of new languages in this pre-summer update. The additional languages are Turkish, Italian, Spanish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish and Dutch. With this we hope that even more people can enjoy the game, especially all the monolingual little humans out there looking to embark on their artistic journey. We are working on a content update as well. It just needs a bit more love before it’s ready to face the world and we’re planning on releasing it during autumn.

OH! And in case you missed it, Passpartout 2 is coming to Nintendo Switch this fall!!! So, uh, that’s also a bit of a reason why the updates have been a bit slower as we’ve been tinkering away getting the game to run well on the Switch.

Happy coloring, and keep swinging that brush (you’re looking really cool doing it)!

Save files are moving somewhere safer!

Hello all!

As some users have made us aware, currently the game can struggle to handle save files correctly. This has unfortunately lead to loss of save progress for users affected. To fix this, the save files are moving to another home!

So what do I need to do?
Glad you asked! Most of the times, nothing! When you launch the game after this update it will attempt to copy your existing save files over to the new location. The old save files will also be kept safe & sound where you last left them, though the game won't use them anymore. Should the game fail to move the files for you, you can always move the files manually. To do so there are these following steps:

  1. Navigate to Documents\Flamebait Games\Passpartout 2\
  2. Copy your steam-XXXXXXXXXXXXX folder
  3. Navigate to C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\LocalLow\Flamebait Games\Passpartout 2
  4. Paste the folder in here
  5. The save files should now appear in the game!

There will be a bigger update coming soon-ish. We just didn't want to wait any longer with this particular issue.

Until next time!

Thanks and What’s Happening Next?

Merci my fellow artists!🍷🥖

I huge super-thank-you to everyone who’s already played the game⭐️

It has been exactly one month since the PC release. In that time we have done two minor updates, fixing some urgent issues, and are working now to fix some more things. We’re also planning to bring the game to more platforms and would love to make the game available in more languages, so stay tuned for news about that!

This year we will be focusing our efforts on making updates for Passpartout 2. The idea is to add more content and features for free so you can get even more enjoyment out of the game! But first, we focus on making sure the game is stable for everyone so you all can enjoy painting your hearts away 🙂

Again, HUGE thank you for all your positive feedback, lovely reviews and comments. It melts our hearts to see so many people enjoying the game, and seeing all the amazing art you all are creating. As game developers, we couldn’t be more proud, yet humbled by your love❤️

We hope you’ll stick around for the Passpartout journey, we feel like we’re only getting started!

P.S. If you missed it, we did a dev streaming you can check out!

Minor Patch

Bonjour!

Mattias here with another small update including some fixes you've been reporting!

  • Fixed various minor localization issues.
  • Trying a fix so the band member stops going wild playing their own music.
  • Fixed so the brush selection UI never gets a weird grey flickering background.
  • Fixed so you can't ruin your save by accidentally burning key items over at Hope.
  • Fixed so the canvas buttons don't think they are bigger than they are.
  • Fixed an issue where Passpartout's extravagant painting poses would cause some PCs to crash.
  • Save files should now be more stable.

Thank you to everyone who helped out with reporting issues. We'll continue keeping a track of the bugs you report and still have many to squash ahead!

Happy painting!

Minor Patch

Bonjour! First of all, a huge thank you for the lovely reception. Launching Passpartout 2 has gone beyond even our wildest expectations! <3

Unfortunately we didn't manage to find and squish all the bugs before release. In this patch we're fixing some of the most critical ones - leading to the game locking itself, namely:

  • Chatting to Margaret about Brianna's mission no longer leads to an eternal staring contest.
  • Lancecour no longer soft-locks when playing in Korean.
  • Added crash diagnostics to get better details of what may be causing a few users experiencing crashes when painting.

We'll keep a close eye on all the bugs and issues you run into while playing, we're lurking all the forums and communities to gather a nice list of things to fix. Here's a few we've noted so far that we'll look into in the future:

  • The hitbox on the buttons on the right side of the canvas take way more space than they should, leading to accidental clicks.
  • One of the band members can sometimes get too excited and start playing their own music at the same time.
  • Canvases in the overworld have a not-so-nice-looking stripe-y effect.
  • Lancecour can go full exorcist with his head while sitting down. Creepy stuff.

Again, huge thank you for your support! With this the development team will be checking out for Easter Holidays for a well deserved long weekend. Next week we'll be back and energized.

Happy painting!

Five More Days Until The Paint Is Finally Dry!!

Bonjour our fellow artist 🍷🥖

It is getting warmer and spring-like in Sweden🌸Hope everyone is doing well!

With only five days until launch, we wanted to share the results of the Ad-poster event we held a few weeks ago! The magnificent posters you created have finally made it into Bull Street and wow did it help bring that place to life!🚗🚙

To be real with you we’re both extremely excited and completely terrified to finally release the game. We’ve worked hard every day for over two and a half years to make a worthy sequel to Passpartout: The Starving Artist. In the end, we’re super proud of the results and hope that you’ll find a ton of joy in painting your heart away!✨

For those of you interested in a bit of Flamebait lore we were only University students when we made the first Passpartout. Now we’re self-proclaimed professionals delivering the sequel after 6 years. But we wouldn’t have made it without the help of so, so many people. Huge thanks to Synkronosauus, our composers, for making those sweet tunes, and thanks to the interns, testers, QA, localizers, family, friends and of course you, the community. Without the love we received we’d never have been able to live out our indie dream and Passpartout 2 would never have come to light ❤️

We can’t wait to get Passpartout 2 into your hands!

Thanks
//Flamebait Team

🎨 Imaginary Ads Wanted! Passpartout 2

Bonjour my fellow artists🍷🥖

Spring is right around the corner 🌸We’re almost ready to announce our release, but before we do, we wanted to host a tiny creative event 🎨

There's an area called “Bull Street” brimming with savvy business- folk, and there are several blank ad spaces! I thought it’d be fun to invite you to make up three silly or fun ad posters to be featured in the game! This can be anything from a made up fast food chain to an ad for a made up travel agency!🏦

The call for entries is open for six days starting today! Next week on March 8th, we will announce the three ads we think fits best and put them into the game as outdoor ads.

In order to make something that works in this game there are some requirements, so please read the application form before you start! This is also the place you submit your masterful ad creation 🖼

Submit your creation here!

We are looking forward to seeing your wild creations❤️
