November 2023 Events FAQ

November 2023 Events FAQ

In today's news post, we're answering a few common questions about the November Events that start from next week.

I'm new to Path of Exile. How do these events work?
Events are temporary leagues, typically with unique modifiers that you wouldn't find in Standard or the current Challenge League to give the player a different and challenging experience.

New characters will need to be created to participate in these events by joining the event. Characters will migrate to their parent leagues at the conclusion of the event unless the event is voided.

You can join an event by clicking "Join" in the event panel found under your list of characters in the character selection screen. This option will become available 30 minutes before the event is set to begin. You'll be able to log into your character, but you won't be able to move your character until the event starts.

Why are there no Hardcore or Solo Self-Found versions of the events?
We've decided not to run Hardcore versions of the event to prevent splitting the playerbase too much. However, we've decided to add Solo Self-Found versions of all three events. This will allow players who prefer racing against other solo players to do so without needing to compete with groups.

The Solo Self-Found events will share the same microtransaction prize pool for randomly drawn prizes, but they will have their own statues and microtransaction bundles for the top players.

Characters created in the Solo Self-Found events will be migrated to the appropriate Solo Self-Found parent league at the conclusion of the events.

Please note that Solo Self-Found events will only be available on PC due to Solo Self-Found player populations on console realms.

Is the Krangled Passive Tree the same as it was last time?
No, the passive tree and Ascendancy nodes have been shuffled again since the last time we ran the event.

Will I be able to use tattoos on passive skills in the Krangled event?
Yes. Bear in mind that tattoos still have application requirements, so for example, you'll need to find the appropriate small attribute skill before applying the basic tattoos!

Are we getting old touched mobs from the Kalandra League?
No, rare monsters will have the new rare monster modifiers as they are now. No cull service required 🙂

How much experience do you end up losing on death due to the ''You lose 5x experience on death'' modifier?

  • No loss prior to the Kitava battle in Act 5.
  • 25% loss after the Act 5 Kitava battle, until killing Kitava in Act 10.
  • 50% loss thereafter.

Will Mirrored Tablets migrate at the end of the Blast from the Past event since it's not voided?
Mirrored Tablets will be deleted before migration at the end of the event.

Will we be able to use Recombinators on mirrored items?
No, Recombinators will not be usable on mirrored items.

Is it possible to complete the ''Out of the Gate'' achievement in these events?
Yes

November 2023 Events

This November we'll be running three Path of Exile events, with the first one starting next Friday (US Time)! All events will be available on PC and Consoles, so everyone is welcome to join in! There are many prizes up for grabs, including Mystery Boxes, randomly drawn microtransactions and exclusive hideout statues.

When planning these events, we tried to keep in mind the interests of different types of players. Some of you enjoy making interesting builds, some prefer facing extra challenges, while some just want to test themselves in the heat of battle. The events don't overlap, so you're welcome to play more than one!

You'll be able to win two guaranteed Ancestor Mystery Boxes per account for reaching Level 50 in any two of the events. This is a total of two guaranteed mystery boxes across all three events.

The events also have a huge pool of microtransaction prizes that are randomly drawn for characters that reach certain level thresholds. This pool of prizes is shared between PC and Console players, with each event having its own prize pool. Having multiple characters will increase your chances of winning a randomly drawn prize. More details on all the prizes can be found in each event's prize section below.

The Passive Skill Tree and all Ascendancy Trees are jumbled. Minor passive skills, notables, keystones, minor ascendancy skills and major ascendancy skills have been internally scrambled within those categories (so a notable passive is still a notable passive, just a random one). All players have the same trees. The Scion is not available in this event.

You can only see properties of passive or Ascendancy skills that are adjacent to ones you have allocated.

Prizes:

PC: The top three players overall will receive a full microtransaction bundle:

  • Mercurial Armour Set
  • Necrolord Wings
  • Mercurial Character Effect
  • Void Weapon Skin
  • Mercurial Weapon Effect
  • Elder Portal
  • Black Footprints
  • Black Dragon Pet

In addition, the top ten players regardless of Ascendancy will receive exclusive hideout statues:

  • Legend's Hideout Statue for Rank #1
  • Champion's Hideout Statue for Rank #2
  • Victor's Hideout Statue for Rank #3
  • Challenger's Hideout Statue for Ranks #4-10

On Consoles, the first place overall will receive a full microtransaction bundle, and the top five overall will receive hideout statues.

  • Start date: 2pm November 3rd PDT
  • End date: 2pm November 10th PST
  • Based on: Ancestor League
  • Not voided - characters and items will migrate into the Ancestor League afterwards. The passive tree will be respecced upon migrating.
  • You lose 5x experience upon death.
  • Platforms: PC and Console

Harness the power of ancient Sentinels and explore the mysterious Lake of Kalandra! The Blast from the Past event offers you an opportunity to return to these Path of Exile leagues from the past or experience them for the first time in case you missed them.

In this event, almost every Path of Exile area has both the Sentinel and Kalandra mechanics active. For more information on how these leagues work, check out the Challenge League sections in the patch notes here and here.

By the way, this event is not voided, so have fun crafting with Recombinators!

Will these events run on all platforms?
Yes.

Are there Hardcore versions of these events?
No.

Can I play my existing character?
No, you'll need to make new characters in each event.

How do I join the event?
At the character selection screen, there's a panel below your characters which will list the events available. You can join the event by clicking 'join'. This option becomes available 30 minutes before the event is set to begin. Your character won't be able to move until the event starts.

Can I make Private League versions of these events?
No.

Can I change my Ascendancy Class during these events?
Yes.

If I delete my character, will I still get a prize?
No. Please do not delete your characters until after the prizes have been awarded.

If I level multiple characters will I have a greater chance of winning a prize?
Yes. Every character you level will be independently included in the pool for the prize draw at the end of the event. This excludes mystery boxes, where you will only be able to receive two per account.

Can I win more than one microtransaction prize?
Yes, it's possible to win multiple prizes. This excludes the mystery box which is awarded twice per account. You only need to reach level 50 in two of the events to receive the free mystery box. This can be found in your microtransaction stash once awarded.

When will I receive a prize?
The Ancestor Mystery Boxes will be awarded automatically. Other microtransactions and hideout statues will be awarded after the end of the event. You'll receive a private message on the website to notify you when this has happened. Note that outside of the Mystery Box and hideout statues, prizes are drawn randomly and are not necessarily guaranteed. We'll post on our X to confirm when the final prizes have gone out.

Will I be able to access the Trial of the Ancestors during the events?
The Trial of the Ancestors is enabled only in the Krangled event.

What happens if I already have all of the microtransactions from the Ancestor Mystery Box?
If you already own the entire Ancestor Mystery Box series, you'll instead be awarded with two Apollyon Mystery Boxes per Ancestor Box earned. If you reach level 50 in two events, you will receive four Apollyon Mystery Boxes.

Are the randomly drawn microtransaction prize pools shared across platforms?
The randomly-drawn microtransaction prize pool for each event is shared across PC/Console.

Good luck, Exiles! We're looking forward to seeing the events unfold. If you're not able to participate, be sure to check the action out live on Twitch!

Winners of the Trial of the Ancestors Hideout Competition

Last week we concluded the Trial of the Ancestors Hideout Competition where we encouraged our community to reflect the theme of Karui Gods in their hideouts. As always, our players have outdone themselves in creativity. With help from our Level Design team, we have selected the winners and are excited to announce them today!

Level Designers: We saw a lot of strong entries in both categories, and we each had favourites that didn't make it into our overall top 3 picks. We saw a lot of creative interpretations of the Karui Deities theme, especially where the gods in question didn't have extensive decoration support.

It's always difficult when decorating hideouts to strike a balance between the visuals you want to achieve and the clutter of collaging them together so we were particularly impressed by the entries that managed to strike a balance and present their concept cleanly.

We considered the hideouts mostly as art pieces, rather than assessing them for practical use, but it was always a delight to see entries that executed on both aesthetics and functionality.

Check out the video with the top five winners from both categories below!

Natural Category

Top Three Winners

  • The Moon Descends by G4nzo

We were blown away by the striking visuals of this hideout. The theme was executed stylishly, and with an eye for visual flair and contrast. Each part of the hideout featured well-lit, readable decoration collages, executed with minimal visual artifacting. The area's creator was surprised to see it used this way.

We loved the strong theming and use of colour in this hideout. The understated walkable space is well balanced with the gorgeously elaborate wall displays. We also noted the unified and consistent shape language, which made for an overall excellent execution on the theme. Hinekora's influence and presence are felt throughout.

We were impressed by the understated, naturalistic theming of the area that managed to keep to a clear colour scheme without ever feeling over-cluttered. It's readable and clear while maintaining visual interest and distinction throughout.

4th - 5th Place

The dioramas in this hideout are absolutely gorgeous, and exhibit a strong stylization that contrasts with the more mundane walkable parts of the hideout.

We all really enjoyed the strong volcanic theme and firey atmosphere that delivered on the concept without feeling over cluttered. If anything, the name undersold how polished the overall hideout felt.

6th - 10th Place

11th - 20th Place

Premium Category

Top Three Winners

  • "Insatiable" - The Scavenger's Cannibal Compound by keldemahll

This area uses large-scale geometric forms and overall symmetry to create some really interesting macabre imagery. We appreciated that it delivered on the cannibalistic/Kitava theme without being a straightforward gory nightmare.

  • Gardens of Time - Four Faces of the Forest by Myra9

A wonderful concept executed stunningly. This hideout delivers some lovely blending between the four seasonal themes, each of which is realised vividly and clearly.

This hideout presents a pleasant and relaxing environment, with pretty visuals that avoid being too noisy. Integrating the ruins and overgrowth made for some nice vignettes without the results feeling overdone.

4th - 5th Place

An enchanting and serene aesthetic, offering a good use of colour and tastefully applied visual effects. We found the cosmic environmental effects a bit distracting but the aquariums and aquatic sections sell the underwater theme really well.

This area's strong visual style and use of azurite led it to be deemed to be "good rocks" by one of the more geologically minded members of the team. We enjoyed the feeling of walking through a geode. A good use of colour contrast, making for a satisfying overall aesthetic.

6th - 10th Place

11th - 20th Place

We'd also like to note the Charred Council by Max34. While this hideout does have a strong presence of some other familiar entity rather than a Karui god, we just couldn't get over it!

Congratulations to all the winners, you made the Ancestors proud! We'll be in touch with you very soon to arrange your prizes.

We're very happy with how this competition turned out and due to a huge amount of high-quality submissions we will also reward more runners-up in a few days. Thank you so much to everyone who submitted your hideout!
