Today, we are thrilled to share a significant milestone with you all. For the first time ever, we will be releasing a demo of Pathless Woods in the upcoming Steam Next Fest in February 2024!
We will be including more new content and features in the demo, on top of what you have already seen so far. This is your chance to experience a slice of the adventure, and we can’t wait to share them with you!
We also want to inform you that the Pathless Woods: Prologue build will be taken down on February 1, 2024. For those who have already downloaded the Pathless Woods: Prologue build, please note that this version will stop receiving updates and lose access to online services on the same day. Till then, please continue to enjoy the game, and we will continue to take in your invaluable feedback and suggestions to improve the gaming experience. We encourage you to keep sharing them with us through Steam discussions or on our Discord.

Pathless Woods Prologue - Now Available!
Today, we want to bring you a very special message—In order to test the online multiplayer experience, we have released a new Prologue build that you can play for free! In addition, online multiplayer is also available, so tell your friends to join in, explore and survive the mysterious woods together!
Please note that the Prologue is mainly for testing the online multiplayer experience, however if you face any issues that might affect your gameplay experience, please let us know through the Steam Discussion board! Alternatively, you can also share it with us through the survey form here.

What is the Pathless Woods Prologue?
We have been developing Pathless Woods for a few years now, and throughout this period we have also conducted a series of small-scale play tests, including a larger scale global playtest recently. As we took in all your feedback and suggestions, it was clear there was one that stood out amongst many players - an online multiplayer feature.
With this, we set out to develop the online multiplayer experience you asked for. However, as we delved deeper, we came to realize its depth and complexity exceeded our initial expectations on the time required, and there was a lot of trial and error involved.
That's why we're introducing this prologue, which is an opportunity for us to test and refine the multiplayer experience on top of other experimental features with an even larger base of players! Through your feedback, we hope to be able to create a much more enjoyable experience for everyone.
What Does This Prologue Experience Include?
Firstly, this prologue is free to play! We hope to collect as much feedback as possible through this test, especially from players in different network environments. In order to obtain relevant information efficiently, there will be some limitations in the prologue, such as:
Play Time: This prologue build will allow you to explore the mysterious woods for the first 20 days.
Character Selection: You can choose only between 2 characters and their various outfits.
Limited Progression: Access to a selected number of items that you can research and craft.
Restricted Terrain and Exploration: Explore a select number of biomes within a portion of the map.
While these limitations are in the Prologue, it will be lifted up in the full release! In addition, there are more features that we are working on including in upon the full release, and have plans to deliver more content and updates post-launch.
How Long Will the Prologue Last?
As of now, we do not have a firm date on how long the prologue will stay up on Steam, as it depends on the feedback we collect regarding the online experience and the progress of our development. However, if you have downloaded the prologue and added it to your library, good news! You will be able to install it anytime you like, even when the game is released.
When Will the Game be Released and will it be Early Access or a Full Version?
If development goes smoothly, we are aiming to release Pathless Woods under Early Access in Q1 of 2024, but the specific time is still unconfirmed. We will continue to take in your feedback and suggestions, work on optimizing the game, include new features and content and release it once it's ready. But not to worry, because we'll be updating you as we go along!
As you explore, survive and wander the mysterious forest, feel free to share any suggestions or feedback through Steam reviews and discussions, or fill up the in-game feedback surveys to let us know what you think we could improve on! Your insights will be pivotal in refining our much-anticipated online multiplayer feature and other aspects of the game.

Your Ultimate Survival Guide!
In this post, we would like to introduce you to an important part of ensuring survival in Pathless Woods - your character’s survival metrics! Each of them are important in their own way in addressing the needs of your character, and in order to truly thrive in these mysterious lands, understanding how to balance them is crucial. Get ready to strategize, innovate, and decipher the secrets of survival in Pathless Woods!
Hunger
Life in Pathless Woods starts with ensuring you're well-fed and keeping your hunger at bay. While wandering the lands, wild mushrooms or cultivated crops will be your go-to for a quick bite. For those who relish the thrill of hunting, animals can also provide a generous supply of meat. But whether it’s foraged fungi or fresh meat, here’s a tip for you - grilling them will boost their filling power! So, don't hesitate to spark up a bonfire and savor a roasted delight.
Hydration
Hydration isn’t just about quenching your thirst! Lakes and ponds offer a refreshing gulp, as such, positioning your home near these natural reservoirs would be a great idea. And when you are out exploring, it's wise to have filled water bottles on hand. If you are wondering how to get it, here’s a fun fact: Take down a Jaer cultist, and they might just drop one for you. The best part is they are reusable, ready to be replenished at the next water source on your adventures!
Temperature
Pathless Woods offers varied biomes as you explore more of its mystical land, from scorching fields to freezing mountains. Crafting appropriate clothing for your climate is essential should you find yourself struggling to keep your Temperature in check.
Sometimes, even clothes won't be enough to stop the elements, and that’s when your building skills and creativity can shine! Build shelters to take refuge from the weather, whether it's the blazing sun or a chilling snowstorm.
Spirit
A well-rested settler is alert and ready for challenges! Without enough Spirit, you'll suffer a Dispirited debuff, decreasing your HP, and Stamina recovery speed, and reducing your other stats by a massive 20%!
Setting up a cozy spot for the night, and getting some sleep is necessary to replenish your Spirit. Settle down by a warm bonfire, or if you have the materials, craft a firelick linen bed roll. It is warmer than a normal bedroll but be careful where you place it—especially if you’re near open flames. You don’t want to accidentally turn yourself into a chunk of charcoal!
Physique
In Pathless Woods, food isn't just fuel—it improves your Physique! Boosting your Physique stat not only ups your basic stats like Attack and Max HP but also lets you handle heftier furniture, equip stronger armor, and wield better weapons and tools to protect yourself. Plus, a higher Physique means more room in your belly, letting you go longer without grub. For a real advantage, diversify your meals and grill up those ingredients; it's about quality, not just quantity!

From optimizing your diet for Physique to ensuring you're adequately hydrated and well-rested, each metric plays a pivotal role in your journey. Moving on to the various systems in Pathless Woods. Crafting, hunting, and cooking were favorites among players. We'll be looking to improve the combat, construction and farming systems to make your experience even more enjoyable and engaging.

New Customization Feature - Display Your Treasures!
First off, we want to present a new customization feature in the game. This feature allows you to adorn your favorite furniture with your cherished items, thereby enhancing the homely feel of your virtual living space. Display your most prized collectibles, hard-earned weapons, or curate distinctive decorations. We want to give you the freedom to express your style and personality without inhibition in Pathless Woods.
But that’s not all - there’s more to this update! These decorations aren’t just for display - they’re functional too. For example, wall-mounted lighting not only adds ambience to your space, but also provides much-needed illumination during your nighttime. By integrating form and function, we hope that this will make your gameplay experience more engaging and immersive!
New Combat Strategies: Bombs & Fireballs!
Brace yourselves, because combat in Pathless Woods just got more exciting! We are shaking things up with new exciting additions to your arsenal of weapons. Get ready to engage in battles that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
First - bombs! They boast a large damage radius, making them ideal for dispersing grouped enemies or gaining an upper hand in challenging fights. However, mastery over these powerful tools demands precision as they are challenging to guide. Keep in mind, possessing such power necessitates thoughtful use. Positioning them strategically is crucial to avoid being caught in the blast yourself!
Up next, we have fireballs! Imagine encountering a troop of armored foes in the distance, and you know that hand-to-hand combat could be risky. However, there's no need to worry! If you have the right equipment, you can now launch destructive fireballs at your enemies! Be it a formidable unit of heavily-armored opponents or a terrifying beast just outside the range of your blade, you now possess a transformative battle tactic in your arsenal.
We hope these additions will make your combat experience more varied and enjoyable, and give you more strategic options to overcome your foes.

Development Progress & Updates: Issue #2!
We hope you're all doing well. We're excited to bring you another edition of our Development Progress & Update series. In this post, we will be discussing updates to the auto-align mode in the building system, following our previous developer update regarding improvements to the overall building experience in the game.
During our most recent small-scale playtest, we identified that the alignment rules for certain building parts were not as fluid as desired. In order to guarantee a smoother building experience as you construct your dream home in Pathless Woods, we made the decision to revisit and optimize the auto-alignment rules once more.
Building alignment rules are now optimized!
After dedicating considerable time and effort into optimizing a variety of building parts, each with distinct alignment considerations like rotation and orientation, we are proud to announce that this process is now complete! These enhancements aim to empower you to bring your creative visions to life, ultimately elevating the game's playability and ensuring your experiences in Pathless Woods are truly unforgettable.
We are thrilled to announce that, in addition to the building system improvements, we will not only be expanding our furniture range but also introducing new furniture-related features! This will provide you with an even wider array of options to customize and personalize your homes. We are eager to hear your thoughts and suggestions on the types of furniture you would like to see added to the game.
