Update 1.400.0 – Player requested modifications and improvements

Greetings Patrons!

Update being released today is a direct response to several leads provided by players. These leads indicates difficulties with people shifting homes or leaving the town, then needed improvements to some management panels, calculation and displaying of certain productions, more optimization etc…

When situation arises that your citizens have reasons to start leaving the town, they won't leave abruptly and in high numbers, so managing their needs should be easier. Previoulsy set up trade deals in harbors will now display a simple summary (on mouse hover), so it will be easier to keep track or your trade routes, especially if you have multiple harbors. FPS limiter has been added to options for those that requested it.

One more detail for all players that like planning and flawless execution in city organization - if you misplace the building, or change your mind where you want it - all invested resources will now be reimbursed in full if you remove the building before it is fully finished.

Based on your logs and other information provided by players, several more areas of gameplay have been identified that need to be modified. Some of these things are a little bit more extensive, and didn’t make it to this update, but are in the works already. To give you access to some improvements as soon as possible, we’ll be dividing the update in two parts. First part is today, and the second one will be in a few weeks.

Highlights of version 1.400.0. :

CHANGELOG

  • ADDED: Harbor summary: when you hover mouse over any harbor, you’ll see a summary data for current automated trade setups
  • ADDED: FPS limiter option
  • ADDED: If yet unfinished building is destroyed, 100% of invested resources is returned
  • TWEAKED: Balance for people leaving town modified. They won’t leave too fast and too abruptly anymore

  • MODIFIED: When citizens start demanding better housing (upgraded houses), correct notification will be displayed (not the incorrect homeless warning)
  • MODIFIED: More precise display of production for some buildings. Buildings that require less then 50 resource units yearly for production, now show correct values

We're certain many Korean players will appreciate this effort.

Taking out medieval heavy equipment – Update 1.330.4

Greetings Patrons!

Today we have another update with some very nice content elements. Biggest single change can be traced to one suggestion that was continually being mentioned by many players for quite some time – introduction of horses and carts. We absolutely agree that this definitely fits excellently into the game setting, plus will be beneficial from the gameplay perspective as well. So, here we are – finally ready with first “produced” horses for your benefit.

Access to horses and carts is very simple – as soon as you build your first farms or other food producing parcels, carts will appear in your depots and your people will start using them as help when gathering and transporting harvest. No more carrying everything on foot!

Since last update we’ve also been working on several reported issues and improvements – regarding orchards, collected products, visual glitches and optimizations regarding models and shadow drawing.

Lastly – there is another major change – with this update, Patron has been transferred to Visual studio 2022. This is part of the preparation we had to do in order to open up a path forward for more updates and improvements down the road. This change shouldn’t affect the functionality of the game for vast majority of players, only exception might be for users of special Windows 7 version. They might have to switch to “Steam beta branch” of the game where we’ll do our best to provide further support.

Highlights of this update can be seen here:

CHANGELOG

  • ADDED: Horses and carts now exist to assist citizens carry harvest products around
  • UPGRADED: Harvest resources transport system changed – when harvest comes, not all citizens will now carry products, but only assigned worker will gather harvest, then it will be transported to warehouses via carts
  • UPGRADED: New transport system for food harvests will reduce workforce requirements for carriers during harvest season, therefore freeing up more workers
  • FIXED: Reduced stutters with orchards during LOD transitions
  • FIXED: Bags with harvested cotton are now normally visible when gathered and transported
  • FIXED: Beetroot visual size increased and mage properly visible on fields
  • OPTIMIZED: A number of 3D models have significantly optimized shadow drawing thus increasing performance
  • MODIFIED: Entire game is now switched to Visual Studio 2022

Before we end this announcement, another sneak peek for all of you – preparations have started for another sizeable update that will be added to Patron in mid July.

Until then,
Govern on!

More information on this is coming soon...

Next optimization bundle

Hello Patrons

Lately, we’ve been analyzing your save files in detail and finding ways to extract more performance from Patron. And we did find some incremental ways to get some gains. In our testing these modifications yielded more gains on slower machines, but measurable improvements were visible on all machines.

Thank you for assisting us with sending your data files. We’ll continue to search for more gains and will keep pushing updates with optimizations, as well as some other improvements in the future!

CHANGELOG

  • Optimizations of shadow drawing – greater improvements with lower spec hardware
  • Optimizations of props models
  • Optimization of multithreading processes

Hope you'll have fun and smoother play

Back-porting for the win!

Greetings and salutations fellow governors!

We come to you today with a nice new update for Patron.

Aquatico, by our colleagues at Digital Reef, is about to be released and since both Patron and Aquatico use the same underlying tech, we've helped the ladies and gents there with some engine updates. We're gradually back-porting these changes and improvements into Patron because... well... why not make Patron better? :)

Naturally, there are other fixes too, and we've thrown in a completely new map as well, just for the fun of it ;).

We hope to bring more improvements in the near future, and if you haven't already, do check out Aquatico. Give the demo a go and let Digital Reef know what you think.

With the kindest of regards, we salute you, governors!

Releasing Patron Autumn update - version 1.310.0.

Greetings Patrons!

Before anything else, we'd like to apologize for the longer delay since the last update for Patron!
There were two reasons: one is our involvement with another project that is in a very sensitive phase, and the other is that we spent a lot of time analyzing your logs and data in search for more paths to optimize Patron. At this stage, the only way to find further increases in performance is to dig pretty deep, and we pursued it this time.

So what would be the highlights of this update? When speaking of new content, there are a couple of brand new maps to play with.
Some of these maps also have some added elements of visual scenery.

On the optimization front, we did a few things here: optimizations to a number of buildings and trees (trees especially tends to stack requirements due to sheer numbers throughout the maps), adjustments to level of details, major changes to in-game update loops and model rendering.

Lastly, thanks to your reports we've identified several incorrect loading hints and these were corrected as well.

A bit more detailed changelog:

* Added 2 brand new fully handmade maps
* Added shark model as scenery in several maps
* Tree model optimizations
* Several building models optimizations
* Modifications to handling of in-game update loops
* Major upgrades to model drawing system
* Correction to few loading hints

All things considered, we've measured a noticeable increase in overall game performance following this update. According to your reports and log data, we'll continue to pursue further improvements in a manner similar to this update.

Until then, have fun!
