The Cosmos
The latest cosmos worlds will no longer show duplicate results on the final page.
Players no longer need to log in to download worlds from the cosmos.
Older save files that have not been updated to the latest save file format will now fail when uploading to the cosmos. Load the game in the latest client and re-save to update to the latest save file format.
Shape collection now works on debris allowing for you to acquire that shape.
Levels now all start time of day at the same time rather than the time the artist saved it out.
Genesis levels now start in unbound mode by default.
Multiplayer
Fixed issue where clients connected to a multiplayer game could "like/unlike" cloud world (and cause an error).
Miscellaneous fixes
Placing tall shapes on top of your character should no longer cause you to fall through the world.
You can now fall all the way back down to the planet in Unbound mode, rather than being caught each time you hit terminal velocity.

Release notes for Patterns version 0.03b version 65521 7/18/2013
Multiplayer
Co-op challenge has been improved
Improved rocket multiplayer sync issues
Angleopes now hide in their shells for multiplayer
Temporarily have blocked network clients from using TK on creatures as it needs further work
Network multiplayer host can now save game
Mac
Fixed a bug that required users to force quit the game
Visual quality on high quality settings is improved
Challenge Mode
Fixed collection challenge on worlds with no moonstone
Challenge mode "completed" text now in place
UI
The game mode for cloud worlds will now be greyed out rather than giving the false impression of letting you set it
New text added for the game mode descriptions
Improved UI for Liking/Unliking of Cosmos planets
Better and proper notification of substance collection/use amounts on the HUD
Assorted bug fixes for UI buttons showing or not showing up
Miscellaneous
Genesis worlds shouldn't need surface graphs rebuilt anymore at load time
Using the wrench tool to rotate Shapes and Patterns no longer causes visual problems from Patterns and Shapes under stress
Older worlds in the cosmos are now properly listed if they didn't have a game mode set previously
Pattern substance tally is now properly computed so you can place a pattern with 50 substance if you have 50 (previously you needed to have 50 + substance required for the anchor shape)
Debris can now be reattached to the world by right clicking on it and using the craft tools
Known Issues
We have a bug that prevents email entries from working when registering Cosmos accounts if the first character is capitalized. If you are having problems getting you email accepted try using lower case.
Currently it is not possible to collect Spinewood and Lava.
Performance
We are pushing the boundaries of our Shape engine with some of the larger worlds. Frame rate will vary depending upon the power of your machine.
Load times for the larger worlds are a little long so plan accordingly.
Multiplayer
Hosted Multiplayer games are currently private and you must coordinate with your guests to set up a game. LAN games can be seen in a list but a guest must know the name of your hosted internet multilplayer game in order to find it.
Joining is improved but can be a problem due to accessing proxy servers
Larger worlds can take a long time to stream to guest players
Our focus has been to support a cooperative building experience. Sync issues may result with more extreme and inevitable behavior when building over longer play times, widespread destruction, aggressive use of Craft mode, playing with more than two players and impromptu death matches.
Release Notes for Patterns version 03b 7/11/13
Hello Patterns Fans!
Welcome to another release update.
We wanted to take a brief minute from your Steam Sale stalking, and tell you that Patterns is part of the sale so now is a great time to get your friends playing.
The focus for this update was to streamline the flow for accessing the Cosmos and setting up Multiplayer games. There’s a new Challenge Mode that includes a timer and counter for keeping track of hidden shapes you can find on the planets. You can also now vote on each other's planets found on the Cosmos. All that happened, and we fixed a bunch of bugs too.
Since our last update, we've heard many of you are successfully engaging in multiplayer sessions and have seen some of those adventures in the form of videos. We’d love to see more, so keep sharing your videos! If you’re still having troubles with multiplayer, let us know if this update improves things. Multiplayer is still in an early form - so we’re paying close attention to the feedback and input that you’re sharing.

Release Notes for Patterns 03a
Hello Patterns Fans!
We have exciting news for all of you Founders out there! With this latest version of the game, we’re giving you the opportunity to take part in an open test of … wait for it … network multiplayer! You now have access to both internet and LAN play!
Check out some of the fun things you can do in multiplayer by watching the 03a trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlpjO8OMX1c
This is a very early version of this feature that we’ve made available for your keen help. Joining with other players across the internet can be buggy and there may (read ‘will’) be times that we have to bring down the servers, but your feedback on how it works - or doesn't work - will help us move toward a bigger and better multiplayer experience. Those that have trouble connecting over the internet should give LAN a try.
Other cool things you’ll find in this build include new planets to explore, some new creatures to keep you company, and some new substances to build with.
We intend to move a little more quickly with our updates this month, so keep an eye out for bug fixes and improvements. We will also be monitoring your feedback on multiplayer and fixing any bugs or making changes as they come up to improve the multiplayer experience. If you find any bugs, please report them to us here: https://support.buildpatterns.com/report-bug/
Thanks for playing and helping us out. As always we love hearing your feedback, seeing your videos and exploring the worlds you share with everyone on the Cosmos.
Stay tuned for more Patterns updates soon!

Release notes for Patterns version 02a
Hello Patterns Fans!
We have a special update that enables you for the first time to share your creations with others: The Cosmos.
In The Cosmos you will be able to browse for worlds that have been uploaded by the community. Search for specific architects or worlds and see what others are creating. Create an account and upload your creations to share with others.
This is the first step to expanding the Patterns universe and empowering you to share and experience Patterns with one another. This is just the beginning of The Cosmos. We are eager to have you play with it and give us your feedback as we continue to tweak the feature.
For more details on this update check out the release notes and be sure to stay tuned for additional updates coming soon.
We are working toward better tools, something to ‘liven up’ the world a bit, and the foundation for multi-player. Sound exciting? We think so too - so keep an eye out for more on this to follow.
In the meantime upload some planets - we can’t wait to see what you’re building.
For bug reporting, issues or ideas feel free to visit our website here.
Thanks all!
Sincerely,
The Patterns Team

Patterns Update, May 7 version 0.01k
Hello Patterns Fans!
We finally have a new update for you and we think this is an exciting one that promises to add another dimension to your Patterns playing experience. A few really big changes to be found here are new planets, an unlimited build mode, and performance improvements.
See a video of some highlights here.
Prepare to have your mind twist around a little bit as you delve into the new Planetoid! The real treat here is that each planet has gravity that originates from its core. That means that you can traverse all sides of the planet and ... not fall off! That is not to say that you can't send an errant piece of debris into orbit from time to time. What it does mean is that you can build and excavate on all sides.
Planetoid1 that has been lovingly built up by our artist. It is a triangle based world and includes a variety of biomes each representing a different ecology and unique feel.
Planetoid2 is a cube based world and it also has gravity originating at its core. You may find this world easier to build on and it is much larger than Planetoid1. We are still working on making it pretty and fleshing out the biomes for this planet, but liked the idea of giving you an open playing field to take unlimited build more for a test drive in. While we continue to do that work we want you to have the opportunity to mess around with a blank canvas.
We've also included a world you are all familiar with - Protoworld2. It was important to include this as it is a great place to start if you are new to Patterns. You get familiar with shapes and how to build them in this world. The pull of gravity in this space is always down but that shouldn't stop you from exploring and getting started with what Patterns has to offer.
Unlimited build mode is just what it sounds like. Each world can be loaded and saved in this mode if you so choose. You will find that all substances and shapes, ability to fly, physics on constructs turned off and powerful breaking tools enable you to easily terraform your world.
With Construct Edit Mode you can more easily build fancy things in world too. This tool is available in all modes and all worlds and you will quickly see how powerful this little tool is.
All of this is now offered with some significant performance and optimization improvements and a fresh UI. That game is playing great and we are excited to get your feedback on our progress.
Check out our release notes for more details.
As a side note we are still in Genesis mode with this game. The game is coming along well but it is very much a work in progress. Your feedback on how the game is doing is always appreciated. Please keep those videos coming, enter bugs as needed here, https://support.buildpatterns.com/rep... and most importantly - have fun!
The ability to share your games with the greater community is something we are actively working on now and will update you on our progress soon.
Thanks all!
Sincerely,
The Patterns Team
Patterns Update May 3, 2013
Hello Pattern's fans!
First off, argggghhhh! We missed our end of April update. Sorry about that but sometimes things don't go as you expect when developing a live game.
We really want to tighten up our optimization work before this next release. Debris and truss are two areas that we've been wrestling with and we are very close to fixing a couple of nasty bugs. Be patient and know that we are eager to get them ready for you to play with!
Also in the spirit of setting expectation, our release will include a very powerful unlimited build mode. Truth be known, it may be too powerful as you'll be able to add quite a bit to an existing world. This is a great thing but I expect we are going to learn a few things once you get your hands on it and put it through its paces.
Construct edit mode is another powerful tool. It is similar to the functionality you experience with the Pattern stone, but much better. Also you edit your Pattern in the context of the world. In this mode you can re-anchor your creation in real-time, and you can transmute substances on individual shapes or for the entire Pattern. There is a wrench tool that allows you to rotate individual shapes of your Pattern or entire portions of the Pattern.
We think this is exciting stuff and we are anxious to get them to you all so we can then tighten up our next update related to sharing.
Thanks all!
The Patterns Team
