We wanted to make a quick announcement about the planned work ahead for PeriAreion. We are currently working on the biggest patch for PeriAreion yet!
This will include massive overhauls to gameplay, simplifying some game mechanics while expanding others all to address feedback and make the game better.
Our time frame for this patch is (tenetively) mid to late May but that will depend on our current project load and how quickly we can get the work done. We will provide updates as best we can!
Thanks,
PeriAreion Development Team
PeriAreion Tutorial Hotfix
Greetings Everyone!
We have nailed down a problem where some of the script references were lost in the tutorial in the last build. It has been corrected and the new patch is being updated now. Additionally we were unable to replicate an issue where the lander module will not allow colonists back inside so if you do encounter this issue please let us know right away.
We are working on v5.0 currently. This will be the largest patch and revamp much of the core gameplay features based on feedback we have gotten. We look forward to bringing it to you as soon as possible!
Cheers,
PeriAreion Development Team
Lander Loading Bug
Greetings Everyone,
It has just come to our attention that some of you may be experiencing issues loading Colonists back into the lander leading them to slowly run out of air and die. This, of course, is unacceptable! We are looking into the issue now so we to couple the fix with the latest HUD rework. Please have patience as we solve this issue.
Thanks,
PeriAreion Development Team
Mac build fixes coming
Hey Everyone,
it has come to our attention that Mac users are experiencing a bug that enlarges the cursor fill the screen. While this is somewhat comical we realize that it would be detrimental to gameplay so we should be able to get a fix out later today.
Additionally, we have had some reports of save game malfunctions. we will be looking into these as soon as we can...hopefully this weekend.
We will keep you posted!
Cheers,
PeriAreion Development Team
New Patch Live! Astronaut Model Update
Greetings Mars Fans!
We finished up work on a new atronaut model, something we did as part of learning a suite of new programs. It has new animations that should look a bit more natural. We will slowly be adding more animations for injuries, sickness, and carrying stuff as we move forward. For now, enjoy a the new colonist!

One Year on Steam and New Patch!
Greetings Everyone!
We wanted to take the time to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of you who helped support our little indie studio by buying PeriAreion.
Unbelievably, it's been a full year since we released on Steam, and a lot has changed since then! To celebrate, we have several exciting updates planned for the next couple of months, so stay tuned. Thank you all for your patience!
Also...New Patch!! Here are the changes:
1) Rover Mode: Rover mode has been completely reworked. The Rover is only drivable in third person but now dynamically drives over the terrain. This is something we always wanted to do but due to the complexity of the physics involved we were limited to our psuedo-rover mode. The main reason for this change is to reduce the complexity of the rover programming and simplify the movement systems. Additionally, the portraits of colonists inside the rover now show up in the upper right-hand corner when rover is selected, and colonists can be unloaded individually by clicking the new "unload" buttons under the portraits.
2) POI Mouseovers added: the new tooltip mouseovers for the POIs have been added to the game.
3) POI Bug fixes: A medley of random issues with POIs on different maps have been fixes. There might still be some issues we are working on but these should by no means be recurring bugs.
4) Display Glitches: Fixed an issue with some of the GUI displaying when it was not supposed to. Still have some bits to fix on the mission failed screen.
We're excited to be working towards some new content (and polishing old content) in the next few months. We're currently doing some contract work to enable us to work full-time at the studio, and this gives us a little extra time to work on improving PeriAreion even more. It's been a crazy year, and we've not had nearly as much time to devote to PeriAreion as we would have liked (due mainly to working several part-time jobs)-- but the support of all of you who bought, played, or gave feedback on our game has kept us going!
All the best,
PeriAreion Development Team
Working on next patch
Sorry we weren't able to release a patch this last week!
We have been swamped with work recently. We are spending some time today working/testing and have fixed a few of the outstanding bugs. We will keep you updated on our progress as best we can! Thanks for your patience.
Cheers,
PeriAreion development Team
Patch 4.1.5 Live for PC and Mac (Known Issues List)
Greetings all!
It's been a crazy week, but we've released a patch for Mac and PC that addresses some more bug fixes. We had the opportunity last weekend at Otronicon to subject our new tooltip system to strenuous testing and user feedback. We are now working on refining the tooltips to make sure that they are as useful and informative as possible and, most importantly, don't get in the way quite so much.
All in-base tasks should now be working, but there are some known issues that we should be able to get to in the next few days.
Known Issues:
-- Modules will not display when they are broken making tasks appear to not work, though repairing with a full repair cycle them should fix it
-- Loading a game may sometimes load the incorrect map, causing building and mineral placements to be off.
-- The rover tends to move on its own (especially on Mawrth Vallis) making locating it troublesome at times... not to mention a little creepy.
-- PeriAreipedia Articles unlock incorrectly and continue to display the "PeriAreipedia Unlocked" GUI permanently
-- Failing a game continues to display base GUI and loading Icon over the load video
-- Some POIs are not interactable and need new mouseovers
Thank you all for bearing with us as we continue to improve the game! We welcome any feedback, and look forward to bringing you the next patch very soon.
Thanks,
PeriAreion Development Team
Patch 4.1.4 Live for PC (Fixes for 4.1.3)
Quick Patch to fix all the things that went wrong after last night's patch:
Unloading Colonists from the Rover should no longer duplicate the colonist
The Rover should now move forward and backward on the Candor Chasma map
Research tree is now functional again
Dragging and Dropping a colonist should no longer freeze on certain parts of the base screen
There are a few more issues we are currently adressing and we are spending this weekend in a live test. We will continually be updating as we find things and should be able to get a patch out each night. We are aiming for the Mac build on Monday.
Thanks,
PeriAreion Development Team
Patch 4.1.3 Now Live for PC
Hey Everyone,
Patch 4.1.3 is now live for PC! We'll have the mac version out in another day or so. A known issue right now is a bug in the tutorial that will prevent the player from harvesting plants and therefore completing that step. We are in the process of phasing out the tutorial for a new in-game toggled hint system, so we will be rushing that along as a fix. In the meantime, here are the changes we have made:
New Tooltip System: We are rolling out the new tooltip system a little bit at a time. Ideally, we want to consolidate most of the HUD menu systems into tooltips and contnue to improve the HUD visuals.
Sulfate Fix: Sulfates should now be minable again. Apologies this game-breaking bug took so long. Unfortunately we were waist deep in updates and the tooltip system before we realized the problem.
New Splash Screen: Our artist has been working on updating visuals while the tooltip programming continues. Finished up new logo art in the splash screen.
UPCOMING CHANGES
Next we are looking at a full overhaul of the HUD systems, another update to the astronaut suit, and (eventually) an expanded end game with new gameplay systems to change the function of each specialized base.
