v1.0 - A whole new experience

Hey everyone!

We have been hard at work fixing existing bugs and wrapping up a new experience for Petrified. As we approach v1.0 we are excited to outline a few major changes that we believe will bring a lot to the game.

  • Game objective changes: previously the objective for hunters was to try to defeat the ghost simply by using different flashlights and powerups to drain the ghost of its life force. This yielded a type of gameplay that was not the goal -- a frenzy at the center of the map where everyone just tried to kill the ghost without exploring or doing anything else. Because of this, the gameplay has been changed so that the object for the hunters is to survive long enough to solve puzzles and obtain a key to escape their imprisonment. The flashlights will no longer deal damage to the ghost but instead will impair the ghost in some way. The objective for the ghost will remain the same.
  • Map changes: through development and testing we have found our first map to be a bit...bulky. Both in the way we created it technically as well as it's size in game. Because of this we are doing a revamp of the haunted house map so the sizing makes more sense and so it doesn't take up as much space on disk.
  • New map: we have worked on a design for a second map -- a haunted school. We don't want to give too much detail on this map...but we are very excited to see how players like it.


We don't have a set release date for v1.0 but we are making great progress and will post updates as we get closer to release. Thank you!

v0.9 Release Notes

- Added multiple achievements and fixed a few bugs as well.
- Add more paid and free cosmetics.
- Added the ability to choose between three different flashlight types with different battery life and different damage rates.
- Added more to the map to make it feel more finished.
- Added logic to help balance the speed of the hunters and ghost.
- Added a new power up that can be used to trap the ghost for a short period of time.

Petrified Early Access Release

Hello everyone!

We are excited to announce that the early access version of Petrified is now available for purchase on Steam! We want the early access period to be relatively short but we will be taking this time to continue adding great things to the game. We also want to have your feedback on the game as well as any ideas that you may have for anything, whether it be in game assets, cosmetics, etc. We want to know!

Petrified Beta Closing

Hello everyone!

Our beta has been live for a few weeks now and we are ready to move into a final development phase before we move Petrified to early access. Because of this we will be closing the beta after this weekend. If you have not had a chance to play the game just yet, you will have time to play until the night of 10/16.

During the beta test we were able to make multiple bug fixes as well as add a few new features including custom party sizes from 2 - 4 players as well as ghost vision goggles that allow you to track the ghost more easily. Give them a try!

Update Notes for 10/12/2022

- Fixed a bug where if a player changed their appearance in a room before someone else joined, joining players would not see those changes.
- Fixed a bug with waiting room menus overlapping the pause menu at times.
- Fixed issue with bookshelves immediately resetting after just being interacted with.
- Fixed issue with energy meter throwing errors.
- Lowered input and interact spam times a bit to help speed up some looting.
- Fixed bug where if you dropped a consumable but still had some in your inventory you couldn't pick that item back up if your inventory was full.
