It may seem like the Ascended are defence oriented, however, that is not always the case. Vigoss is one of the Avatars with a pretty straightforward offensive Skill making him fit our classification as a Caster Avatar. Judicate, his Skill, will deal 2 damage to the enemy Core, then mute the Skill. At the start of your turn, if you didn't use this Skill during your last turn it will be unmuted. That means that every second turn you can inflict 2 damage directly to the enemy Core for only 3 energy.
Depending on your preferred playstyle, you can spice things up with one of the Vigoss' traits. His first Skill, Reactive Armor, will put 2 shield counters on him every time you play an energy card. This can give you a tactical advantage and help you create a meaningful board advantage. Recycle Energy will reduce the cost of the highest cost energy card in your hand by 1 every time you use Vigoss' Skill. If you play accordingly around this trait you won't be needing to level your energy as much as you would otherwise, or pull out a card a few turns before they expect it. That leaves you more freedom to adapt to the flow of the game and level up Leadership, to buff your Avatar and units, or use Overcharge to gain card advantage over your opponent. And with Cooling System, the cost of Vigoss' Skill is reduced by 1, allowing you to inflict 2 damage to the enemy Core for 2 energy every second turn. How's that for the offence?

Avatar Lore: Vigoss
Dear Denizens of Issilith!
Sometimes, no matter how hard you want to do the right thing, you just can't win. Vigoss, a well-renowned general of the Ascended army, felt that on his own skin.
That faithful day, a report came that a settlement was under heavy siege and in need of aid. Vigoss, together with his unit and his right-hand man Tarro, followed their orders to set out and help people in need. While on their way, they saw another outpost being attacked. Tarro insisted on helping them first, his family is there after all. Vigoss knew that. He had to chose between two evils, his right-hand man or his duty, his guiding thought was to his duty. So he choose to listen to his orders. Vigoss didn't help the settlement on their route, they went straight to helping the one they were sent to defend. Soon after they won, the word of the destruction of the settlement they left behind reached them. The outpost with Tarro's family was razed to the ground, no living soul had escaped the carnage, everyone was dead. Filled with rage and despair, he confronted Vigoss after the battle, determined to end his life. Vigoss didn't fight back. He couldn't do such a thing to his best friend, especially after everything he just went through. So Tarro punched him and he kept punching until Vigoss was almost dead. In the last outburst of rage, he grabbed Vigoss and threw him off the cliff. Tarro was arrested and sentenced for treason, while Vigoss, an asset too valuable to lose, was rebuilt using precarious Ascended technology. His body and soul were transferred into a construct body, allowing him to continue his service.

Thoughts and tips
Dear Denizens of Issilith!
It has been a few weeks since the servers went back online and we are once again able to play PHAGEBORN on Steam. Even in such a short time we got some great feedback from you and have already implemented a part of it, removing the card restrictions for free players being the most significant one. While the servers are back online, we are still in early access so don't be surprised if you see that some of the features you may have had a chance to try out before aren't currently available in the game. All those features such as Guilds, BattlePass, Merchant, and others, will be added gradually into the game as the testing of PHAGEBORN progresses. To potentially ease you into PHAGEBORN, if you're new to it (or maybe just forgot some details), we have a few tips and answers that might help you make your PHAGEBORN experience that much more enjoyable.
REPLAYS Replays are definitely one of the implemented features that can bring a lot of value to us all. It will allow you to analyze any saved match you have played, or just watch it if something epic happened and you want to share it with someone. Maybe some bug occurred or you encountered the problem while playing a match. Oftentimes what can help us best in such situations is the replay of that match. The replay can be saved on the post-game screen. If you ever find yourself in a situation where you'd like to send your replay to someone, as they are saved locally, the default location they can be found is: 'C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\LocalLow\Games Revolted\Phageborn\replays'.
FACTIONS UNLOCK Oftentimes new players ask how to unlock other factions. The answer is simple, by playing PHAGEBORN! As you play and level your account you will unlock new factions. Once you hit Account level 5, a random faction will unlock, and every 2 levels afterwards another random faction will unlock. For now, that means that once you reach Player level 9 you'll have access to all of the factions!
CARD UNLOCK One of the things we are very keen to keep is how in PHAGEBORN we will NOT sell card packs. So, how can you unlock more cards? Through Seal Tree! As you play, you will acquire Account levels, and with them, Progress Points (PP) which are used to unlock seals in the Seal Tree. Every faction has its Seal Tree and you'll have to play with them to increase your range of influence and unlock more seals. Except for the Neutral Seal Tree. They have sworn their allegiance to no one, so you won't need to worry about the range of influence when unlocking their cards. Currently, you'll even start with 3 PP so you can begin to build your deck from the start of your journey!

Team's Favourite Cards IV
Dear Denizens of Issilith!
From Ascended to neutral and all the way to Oblivion. Our devs' favourite cards are found across all of the factions. And while those cards are almost always units, the Oblivion are only faction where our devs usually prefer energy cards over units. Ready to find out why?
TEAM MEMBER: Aniol Marín Atarés (Unity Developer) FAVOURITE CARD: Devour Reality It's a well-known fact that some Oblivion can open portals to other dimensions which their troops often use to gain a tactical advantage over their opponents. However, some Oblivion Primes are even able to create enormous portals that lead to their dimension. The scariest thing? If they want you to go through it, you won't be able to say no. Primes may need quite a lot of time to form that portal, but once they do, your whole reality will change. Devour Reality is an Oblivion ability card that costs 8 energy. It's a great tool to use if you find yourself in a disadvantageous position since it will destroy all units and ambushes across the board after which it will drain your essence. WHY: For me, Devour Reality is a great card for a couple of reasons. First, it can help you get out of some pretty bad situations. Second, it often leads to some very interesting game consequences since it wipes the board. And third, I find its VFX very cool.
TEAM MEMBER: Zlatka Subotičanec (UI/UX Designer) FAVOURITE CARD: Rewind Time As if creating portals and sending creatures to other dimensions isn't enough, Oblivion have a few more tricks up their sleeves. Especially the more powerful ones. They are able to create a copy of their current state in their dimension. While that copy only lasts for a short time, it grants the Oblivion an opportunity to mitigate damage or even completely avoid attacks. Hmmm, what's that? Déjà vu? Rewind Time is an Oblivion ambush card that costs only 2 essence but can bring you quite the advantage over your opponent. It will trigger at the end of your opponent's turn and heal your Core for the amount of damage it sustained during that turn. A great tool to have if you know how to utilize it. WHY: This card has the ability to change the tide of a game. If someone gets good cards and attacks the Core on their turn - I mess up their plans. I can turn the game around like that.

Oblivion: Lore
„You may have heard the bits and pieces of how the Oblivion came to be, but have you ever heard the whole story? It is embedded deeply into the beginning of time when the Alpha Creator made the whole universe and everything in it. Their creation was a mere oversight, but an oversight that has the potential to change the whole existence and everything in it...“
Once upon a time, there was only the Alpha Creator. He was a being of extraordinary power and unlimited capabilities. He was always here. And for untold aeons, he was alone. All until the decision to fill the surrounding Void with new creations. However, nothing was good enough. Alpha realized that he wanted more – the creation of the perfect universe. And that meant a lot of unperfect creatures, fails, if you'd please, and to only remove them from existence would mean the absence of reminder of his own failures. So he created a place where all of the creations he wasn't content with would be sent, a learning place to improve his designs. With only a thought the new dimension was born, the one he so aptly named Oblivion.
With every discarded design Oblivion changed, new natural laws were added and there was only chaos. In a midst of it, in this Alpha-forsaken place, a spark of life occurred. But what good may come from such a place which served only as a tomb? With time that spark of life grew stronger, and it took the form of the first creatures that started to prey on the Oblivion. Out of sight and out of mind, these creatures evolved, adapting themself to their unnatural surrounding, and soon, the ultimate predators appeared. They were intelligent, they were adaptable, and they used their prey to evolve even more, feeding on its essence.
It was only a matter of time before they would rule Oblivion. And they had more than enough of it. Those who were the greatest amongst them became known as the Primes. These powerful individuals are even able to create portals between dimensions, allowing them to travel between the planes.
However, what makes them so special is more than their sheer abilities. The Primes are not linked to The Tether, a force that connects all of the Oblivion into shared consciousness. And while they can connect to it and lead the other Oblivions in their vicinity, they are safe from its influence. But The Tether... That is a story for another time.
„You can see now, my dear child, that the Oblivion are more ancient than any other creatures you may have known. They were amongst the first to walk these planes and they just may be the last...“

Card Restrictions Removed
Dear Denizens of Issilith!
It's been a week since the servers have come back online and we have already had some great feedback. We've been going through it, and our team is working diligently on the game. So today we're bringing you an update regarding some changes that we've implemented thanks to your input!
REMOVED CARD RESTRICTIONS This has been the theme of many discussions lately. As some of you may know, when the servers came back online, some restrictions were in place. This stated that free users can have 2 different legendary cards and up to 2 copies of non-legendary cards in their deck. For premium users that limitation was set to 3 copies of the non-legendary and up to 4 legendary cards total. While this was something we considered implementing in our game once it is ready for the full release, we've been going through your feedback and we came to the conclusion that this isn't in line with the direction in which we want PHAGEBORN to evolve. This isn't a problem now at this stage of the development when all players have the same limitations since everyone is a free player but we agree that it may create big inequalities amongst the players in the future. So we have removed the card restrictions! Now everyone will be able to have up to 3 copies of the non-legendary and up to 4 legendary cards in their deck.
We want to take this moment to remind you that your feedback is very important to us, it even helped us come to this decision. While we may not implement all feedback that is sent to us, we want to at least take the time to consider it and how it will affect the future of PHAGEBORN. So thank you, truly, for your feedback.

What it means that Jetpack Collective are now publishing us?
Dear Denizens of Issilith!
In case you missed some of the earlier news, it makes us very happy that we're able to announce that the Jetpack Collective is now publishing PHAGEBORN! And while this is a celebratory moment for us, we understand that there might be some confusion regarding what will this entail for you, our players.
SO, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? This means that we'll have some extra support on all things marketing and community related. Jetpack Collective is here to help our team, allowing us to put more of our efforts into making the PHAGEBORN the best card game it can be. And while we are going into this new journey as partners, we will keep creative control over the direction in which the game will develop. So you don't need to worry that this may change the feel of the game we all love.
WHAT WILL CHANGE? Well, not much. At least at this moment. Since we have been working together for some time, this announcement will not change anything already announced. We are still open to discussion and suggestions, and that part won't change. The biggest changes you as players can expect are better marketing activities when the time comes. Long-term, the cooperation with Jetpack Collective will allow us to provide the best live-ops experience possible, and that is one of the things we strive to do.
WHAT TO KEEP IN MIND? Even though we have publishers now and the servers are back online, our work is far from done. We are still in the process of development and are constantly working on updating the game. Hopefully, with the servers back online, we'll be able to get more feedback from you while you'll be able to see everything we are currently working on and track the development of our dear PHAGEBORN.
So if you aren't already a part of our Discord community, become a Resident of Issilith and share your feedback with us (Discord)! Now is the time to leave your mark on the game. Power To The Players.

Basic Mechanics: Oblivion
"Their name is feared beyond the known world, their minions create chaos, and their leaders instil fear into the hearts of their victims. We are no more than lesser beings to them, just another instrument to help them become more powerful, more evolved creatures. You can feel the darkness in their every step. For they are the Oblivion... "
I will not bore you with the details of their creation, that is the story for another time. But if you do find yourself amongst them, heed my warnings and proceed with care! They are predators, set out to devour as much as they can. And if you see one, there are certainly more of them, waiting, lurking for the right moment to strike. To know them and their strategy may be your only hope of surviving.
Vulnerability counters are Oblivion's signature mechanic. If the player deals combat damage while the Vulnerability counter is on, a unit, Avatar, or Core, it will also lose health equal to the number of Vulnerability counters it has on it. But to make the most of such mechanic, one should have an adequate setup. Instead of adapting to the existing situation, the Oblivion likes to play on their own terms. And what is the better way to do so than with a well-thought Ambush? They are the predators after all. They will replicate, they will expose, they will deny, they will do everything they can to make sure they are the ones controlling the way the battle will unfold. So it doesn't come as a big surprise that many will say how the best faction for the control deck is, in fact, the Oblivion.
However to do so, they will usually have to be more energy-oriented, and with more cards that are played each turn, sustainability becomes a problem. And seeing as most of their units aren't necessarily the strongest (for them the strength is in numbers), if you are the one leading the game, putting your opponent in a disadvantageous position, you just may have a chance to take them down. Oh, and if you see a purple glow around your opponent's Core, there is an Ambush waiting for you so play accordingly!
„Until the battle is over you cannot underestimate the Oblivion, my child. Even if the victory is almost at your grasp, do not let your guard down. You can never know what more tricks they have up their sleeve... Join our Discord community (Discord) and find your own numbers! Only together will you have a chance to be either Oblivion's greatest warriors or their doom...“
