In our last few posts, we presented some major changes we made to the game, specifically our transition from 2D to 3D and accompanying quality of life improvements. So today we want to give you a little insight into the reasons behind it, address the most asked question, and talk to you about the direction in which we want to go with certain elements.
What made us decide to go 3D instead of 2D?
Our motivation is to give you the most immersive experience possible. The first step towards it was to make animated battlegrounds so we can bring life to the surroundings. We decided that the best way to do that is to go 3D. That also allowed us to give you guys better VFX and a spatial audio system that we were unable to do before. With new improvements, Avatars didn’t feel like they fit in. As most of you who have played the game before know, Avatars are playable characters with special skills which can change the way you play the game. They used to be in 2D and were displayed by portraits, and in this new 3D world their appearance didn’t adequately represent their importance. So we also made Avatars in 3D. That allowed us to make them customizable via various skins so that you can personalize them to embody you and your playstyle better.
Why are the old version's (Steam version) servers down?
We have put so much time and effort into improving the general experience of the game but we are still not finished. There is more work to be done in improving and optimizing the game so that it can be really enjoyable for our players. So it seems wise to keep them offline until we can implement all upgrades and missing elements. That should give the existing player base and the new players a fresh experience when playing our game. There was a comparison from our Issilith residents on how the changes implemented so far made Phageborn more like a Phageborn 2. We were very happy to hear that!
One of the things we would like to hear your feedback on is a question regarding our Menu screen. We would also like to make improvements by creating a live 3D menu so that players can feel as if they are really in the world of Issilith even while they are not playing the game.
Our current menu:

Phageborn: Quality of life improvements
Dear Phageborn friends!
For most of us here, if not all, Issilith’s musical scene has been quite the discovery. Whether it is a large Drakkorith marching band or a traveling skald band, there is something for anyone's taste. Many instruments of different shapes and sizes create a beautiful symphony that adds to Phageborn’s captivating atmosphere. So today we would like to present to you some audio in-game elements of which we are very proud: Music and Chat wheels.
NEW MUSIC
Each battleground has a unique in-game soundtrack which comes in three different variations
Music changes depending on the Player’s Core HP
New and improved VFX audio
Check out our new battleground music on the link below. https://youtu.be/Hke58jknExc
CHAT WHEELS
Each avatar has a unique voice-overed chat wheel
There are 7 lines per chat wheel, and they range all the way from Greetings to Taunts. It’s good to have an option for every situation.
How important are in-game audio elements/music to you?

Phageborn VFX sneak peek
Dear Phageborn community!
In one of our previous posts, we announced a big change that has been made, a shift from 2D to 3D in-game elements. Since that, our consensus was that other parts of the game need to receive some love too. Today we are going to give you a sneak peek of our new and improved VFX! And, as a little bonus for your patience and ongoing support, as well as to keep you amused while waiting for your opponents, we also present to you Battleground clickables!
NEW VFX
Existing VFX reworked to match dark fantasy theme and new VFX are added
VFX are more dynamic, more realistic, and are placed in the three-dimensional space
VFX are now befitting to their effects. If the spell is high level it should make a blast, don’t you agree?
Here is a sneak peek of our new VFX: https://youtu.be/_qLLxghP5sk
BATTLEGROUND CLICKABLES
Each map has unique interactive elements
Advanced clickable objects and maybe a few secrets (more on that in future posts)

Meet the new team!
Under the name of Games Revolted, fighting for the survival of Issilith, brave warriors have gathered chosen by Phageborn himself. Dealing with monsters, various ambushes, and spike traps on their way, these heroes have an essential role in shaping a world worthy of our players.
It’s time to meet some of these fearless warriors. Last week we provided a sneak peek into some of the new features, so it is appropriate to introduce the people behind it.
Name: Danijel Dragičević Role: Lead Frontend developer
Danijel knows that spending time in nature clears one’s thoughts, so he often goes for a walk through the Forbidden Forest and always has some parchment paper on hand to note down ideas about making the best infrastructure of Issilith for you folks. Among such feats was the Player profile that you saw last week. Let’s just hope he doesn’t run into one of those caustic creatures.
Name: Ivan Horvatin Role: Fullstack developer and Name: Karlo Čulo Role: Backend developer
These two go together like Drakkorith knights and huge hammers. They were hired by king Tyberiuth to make a system that would track the accomplishments of the contestants in the Drakkorith arena. So, when they are not throwing tomatoes at the losers in the arena, they are making the Achievements system for these reptilian gladiators.
Name: Dario Magdić Role: 3D Technical artist
Ever wondered where the Issilithians buy their armor? They go to Master Dario’s workshop. He can make anything from any material and brings Avatar skins to life. The word is, even the Oblivion mutations go to him sometimes…
Check back in next Friday for more Phageborn features and news from the Games Revolted factory.

Phageborn: Player profile, Avatar skins and Achievements
Greetings Avatars of Phageborn!
We hope you’re all having a wonderful Friday! As you’ve noticed by now, every Friday our Issilith messenger brings us news about Phageborn progression.
Today is no different!
That said! We would love to show you the new player profile we've been working on that has all the interesting details about your progress and stats as a player.
As you can see it contains your profile picture, rank, winrate, collection completion %, the amount of games played along with the achievements and your featured Avatar. Do you like it? What would you want to see on the profile page? Let us know by commenting below or join our Discord channel to discuss it with other Issilith residents: Discord link
Now for all you overachievers in Issilith! We've created achievements that will come with the complete game. Some, as you will see on the screenshot will not be too easy to pull off. That said, we're not worried that you'll find a way to complete them!
And last but not least! To spice up things we’ve added skins to the game!
Hopefully you’ll enjoy today's update as we’ve enjoyed designing and creating new content for you guys! We have also heard whispers that some of you might be interested in a versus AI mode, we love this idea!
Yours truly the Games Revolted Team
Phageborn: New look teaser
Greetings Heroes of Issilith,
Recently we announced that we will share more information over the next few weeks about the changes and improvements of our beloved game.
We have been working hard on making the most epic card game ever, but now we are ready to reveal some of the changes and put out a few teasers for you, our faithful companions.
We care a great deal about your ideas and opinions so, as promised, here are some key points of our work!
The majority of the game is now 3D instead of 2D. That means we have full 3D battlegrounds and 3D Avatars that aid you in battle (portrait system is no more)
The Game has been optimized drastically in terms of gameplay speed and performance. We're still working on it, to give you the most fluid and enjoyable game possible
Tokens have been redesigned to give you a more clear and pleasurable gameplay experience
Since Avatars are now 3D there is a new UI system that goes along with it
New Core design
With all that said, we're sure you'd like some visuals on the topic so we prepared the following from actual in-game footage.
We've also been looking at more ways to improve signalization regarding abilities and leadership requirements.
Here is an example:
We would also love to hear your opinion! Would you rather have simpler or more in-depth explanations? Are there any specific cases you would like to see addressed that aren't usually addressed in other similar games?
Your Games Revolted Team
Phageborn new update
Dear Phageborn community,
Earlier this year we announced that we are working hard on bringing you the new version of our beloved game Phageborn, but that to avoid confusion that at the time the game needed to be removed from Steam. In the end that didn't prove possible, because we realized that the way the Steam rules work if we took the game down it would have been deleted permanently.
Of course, we wanted to avoid that because - we wanted to make sure that everyone who had supported us got to keep the game - we would have had to release the new version under a different name and ID
The bottom line is that we felt removing the game would be unfair to you - our most precious community.
It's taken us much longer than it should have to come back and explain that - and we are sorry about that - but hopefully we can show that we are now working towards getting a new release together so we can start delivering an amazing game experience.
For just now the game is still here but we have decided that we need to keep the servers off whilst we work on the next release. The game you deserve.
Those of you who have already purchased the game are our true heroes. Without you, there's no Phageborn.
We will share some details of the new updates over the next few weeks and let you know when the new build is coming - and we hope you will be blown away by it.
We cannot express enough how much we appreciate all of your support!
Thank you again,
Games Revolted Team
Phageborn card game update
Dear Phageborn community,
The year 2020 has certainly been challenging for everyone, Games Revolted is no exception.
After a struggling year, we managed to reassemble the team and we are working hard on bringing to you an amazing upgraded version of our game.
For technical reasons, the game needs to be taken off of Steam, but hopefully, we will have an awesome new version for you soon.
Thank you for your endless support, Games Revolted Team
PHAGEBORN CURRENT SITUATION UPDATE
Dear friends and fans,
Today, Games Revolted made the difficult decision to put all Phageborn Online Card Game related business operations on hold following a challenging period affected by the current situation in our hometown.
Our company, together with its investor has suffered significant damage in the last month. The unpredictable COVID-19 situation affected our investor greatly due to the nature of their business and, as difficult as it already was, the situation was compounded by the devastating earthquake that hit Zagreb where our offices are located. The financial damage was too sufficient to keep our company functional and operative.
To make the best out of the extremely difficult situation, we decided to keep the servers running in order to keep the game alive in its current state, as we plan to revive the company once the situation stabilizes. This means all of you who already own the game will still be able to play it, and the game will remain available on the Steam store with an upcoming discount.
We’re genuinely sad and disappointed not to be able to continue working on Phageborn at this moment and stay on schedule with planned updates and new chapters of the Phageborn story.
The Games Revolted team is extremely proud of releasing Phageborn Online Card Game after 3+ years of development and even more thankful to every single player who tried the game, enjoyed it, took the time to write the precious feedback, participated in our discord discussions or being part of our story in any way.
We hope we will get the chance to bring the game to a stage where we wanted it to be, both development and player-base wise and continue where we left off. We will continue to seek solutions for this problem and update you should we have any new information.
