What is Phantom Fury?
Phantom Fury is a story driven FPS with a strong focus on interactivity and intense combat. The game’s road movie-like structure leads our protagonist Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison through all kinds of different locations across the USA.
What is the story of Phantom Fury?
Phantom Fury takes place many years after Shelly’s fight against Jadus Heskel.
After an accident that almost cost Shelly her life, she wakes from coma with a new bionic arm.
Tasked with securing a highly dangerous artifact, the legendary Demon Core, Shelly embarks on an intense journey around the US, as she tries to overcome her own past to save mankind’s future.
How is Phantom Fury connected to Ion Fury? Is this a direct sequel?
Phantom Fury is not a direct sequel to Ion Fury, however, both games share the same universe. Phantom Fury takes place many years after Shelly’s fight against Jadus Heskel, where she awakes in a new world, pulled out of a coma at the behest of an old colleague.
Do I need to play Ion Fury first before jumping into Phantom Fury?
No, you don’t. Both games might take place in the same universe, but they have a different story and characters.
Who is making Phantom Fury?
Phantom Fury is being developed by Slipgate Ironworks, 3D Realms internal development studio. Slipgate Ironworks, formerly known as Interceptor, established the Bombshell franchise in the first place and is behind many titles published by 3D Realms for the past decade, including being the producer of Ion Fury (developed by Voidpoint).
The studio has grown and changed significantly since the days of Bombshell. The team has expanded with a lot of new talent, people with years of experience in the industry in all areas of development. Several original 3D Realms developers are involved, such as Chuck Jones and Dirk Jones. The game director is Daniel Hedjazi (also known from Tokyo Underground Killer), whose company Phoenix Game Productions is also involved in the development.
Is the development of Phantom Fury going to affect the release of Ion Fury: Aftershock?
No, it will not. Phantom Fury is a project developed by Slipgate Ironworks while Ion Fury and Ion Fury: Aftershock are developed by Voidpoint. Two different, independent studios working on each game.
Will Phantom Fury have Multiplayer?
Right now, we are focused on delivering a top-notch single-player experience. Stay tuned for more information about potential multiplayer support!
Which platforms will Phantom Fury release on?
Phantom Fury will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
How long is the game going to be?
The core campaign is going to be around 8+ hours. With that being said, if you explore the game’s world and the countless options for upgrades and modifications, playtime will be longer.
How many levels and different locations will the game include?
Shelly’s journey will take you through 15+ levels, divided into a variety of different locations, such as Albuquerque, the Grand Canyon and the streets of Chicago.
Is Colonel John Blade from SiN going to be in Phantom Fury?
While this is first and foremost Shelly’s adventure, don’t be surprised if Colonel Blade stops by during her journey to lend a hand.
Are you planning to release the game in Early Access?
There are no plans for releasing the game in Early Access. We are aiming to have Phantom Fury ready for launch on all platforms at the same time.
When is the game coming out?
The current plan is to release Phantom Fury on all platforms in 2023. Once we are ready to announce an exact release date, we’ll inform everyone through Steam News, our social media and Discord communities.
How much is the game going to cost?
We haven’t decided about the price level yet.
Which languages is the game going to support?
Currently we can only confirm English. However, we are looking into additional language options.
What is the game engine that is used to develop the game?
The game is developed in Unreal Engine 4 featuring a retro visual style, while employing several modern features and characteristics as well.

Shelly embarks on her next action-packed adventure on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2023.
Years after Shelly’s fight against Jadus Heskel, an old colleague rouses her from a coma. She awakens with a bionic arm capable of incredible feats and a new mission: track down the dangerous Demon Core, an artifact capable of unprecedented destruction before villains get their hands on it.
Set off on an adrenaline-amped adventure across the USA to battle menacing soldiers, vicious cyborgs, vile mutants, and challenging bosses. Blast through enemies in satisfying skirmishes in seedy Albuquerque hotels, explore abandoned facilities in Los Alamos, defend the streets of Chicago, and delve into more sinister locations on her journey.
Phantom Fury’s world features an incredible amount of interactivity. Pilot helicopters, solve environmental puzzles, hack into fully usable computers, play arcade machines and air hockey, and much more — if you see it, you can probably play with it. Each mission comes with surprising ways to interact and creatively circumvent obstacles.
Shelly’s predisposition for powerful weapons requires an awesome arsenal, and Slipgate Ironworks delivers. Wield more than 20 weapons, from her trusty Loverboy revolver and Bowling Bombs to new equipment like armor-piercing shotguns, electrified foam shooting devices, and controllable drones. Upgrade armaments with mods like new fire functions to unleash hell. Unlock new abilities for Shelly’s nifty new arm like punch attacks and electric shields to overcome challenges on the way to the Demon Core.
