I've been wanting to add some sort of rain effect to Dark Forest as that was my initial vision for the world, however I didn't know how I should've implemented such a system without being heavy on the performance and to look decent but thankfully I recently learned how to make a particle system and then remembered maybe I could use this to make the rain effect without tanking performance as I originally envisioned

View distance (Zooming out) was one of the biggest community requests I've received and it was no easy task to do as a fully 2D game there is no such thing as "Zooming out". It's just an illusion effect of scaling down sprites on the screen
I've had a lot of positive feedback regarding the new particle system and I've been slowly adding more and replacing some sprites with particles
One recent feedback I received was adding a visual indicator when the Soul Hunter spawns, so now your Pixelmancer will visually "say" something when the Soul Hunter appears
IMPORTANT PLEASE READ - Regarding your save progress
If you have already been playing the game after 17th October (Patch 0.44) then you can ignore this entire post
What's Going on?
- If you haven't logged into the game since 17th October (Patch 0.44) then you will lose your save progress after 26th November
Why?
- Patch 0.44 introduced a new save system which works far better than the old for many reasons including speed, low file size and performance. However the old save system is still in the codes and causes issues with loading times. The reason the old save system is still in the codes is because if you login after patch 0.44 then your old save system gets converted to the new save system
What do I need to do?
- Make sure you have launched the game at least once after patch 0.44 (Between 17th October and 25th November) and just quickly go to settings or upgrade menu and go back to the main menu to ensure the auto save function has kicked in for the new save system

This update is a big one! I've had the idea to add Anima since I added gravestones before early-access launch, I'm excited that it's finally here, you can now feel much stronger with your pet army taking over the enemy lands
While working on this update, I thought I'd take the time to expand on the particle effects, I hope you like the new particle effects for the weapons and also Stadie's fireball. During a big fight it just looks like colourful fireworks being exploded on your screen and I personally think it looks great! Hope you will think so too

Soul Mastery is here! I've had quite a few requests to increase the drop rate of Soulstones but I had a feature planned where you can play to increase your Soulstone drop rate. Introducing a new gem called "Luckstones" which can be increased through the Soul Mastery system
I was expecting this update to go live next weekend as I thought it would take longer than expected, I surprised myself that I had already finished working on the update today and added a bunch of quality of life changes and bug fixes on the way

This update took a while to develop because I also needed to develop a weapon selection system. While developing Novacast and the weapon wheel system, I also felt the need to re-design the menu and categorise the unlocks, I hope you like the new design
For my next update, I will be working in the background to change the steam achievement icons, they look good now already but I ended up creating what I think is slightly a better design
As for the next game version update, I will be working on a new luck system - the idea is that you can increase your soulstone drop rate by playing the game

- Completely re-designed the save & load system from scratch for better

I had to re-design the save & load system due to issues with the previous one, the previous saving system would keep old codes that were changed or removed and cause issues with new updates. The new save & load system works better and much faster and has much lower file size which improves Steam Cloud's upload speed and also cause less issues with sync
IMPORTANT PLEASE READ - The first time you launch the new update, you will be on a white screen for about 5 seconds, this is normal as it's converting the old save to the new save. On your second game launch the game will launch faster as it'll be on the new save system. I've tested the new save system many times with every condition I could think of and its working, you shouldn't lose your save but I deeply apologise if the save converter failed and you lost your save

Pixelmancer has only been live for 12 hours and I've already received good feedback from the fans, I started working on this update the moment I woke up :D
The biggest request I've received so far is wanting more Steam achievements, I've added a few more achievements with todays update and will focus on bringing more Steam achievements this week including the ones for player upgrades
