Development Branch update - v0.9.022.m018

Hello Terraformers!

We've just updated a new version (v0.9.022.m018) on the development branch.
To try it, see the "How to switch branches?" question in the FAQ.

We heard your feedbacks and decided to stick with the core of the game; making procedural wrecks a more enjoyable experience than it was initially


Warning : We changed the save file format, meaning the save file used in the beta branch won't be compatible with the main branch for a while. If you save a game in the beta branch, you won't be able to open it in the main branch until the main branch is updated (in a few weeks). Remember to backup your saves.

Let us know if you experience significant performances changes or new critical bugs.

As usual, restart Steam to get the update, and backup your save before trying the dev branch.
If you have issues launching the game, remove all your mods before reporting bugs.

Balancing
Greatly reduced the complexity of wrecks
Removed timer in wrecks. There's chances we'll add it back but only in intense and hardcore playmodes
Increased loot in wrecks

New items
Constructible Light Box. Blueprint found in procedural wrecks
Fireplace. Blueprint found in procedural wrecks
Tree planter. Blueprint found in procedural wrecks
2 new frog eggs. Found in procedural wrecks

Once a certain terraformation level is reached, a breach will appear between the starting biome and the waterfall biome

Creatures will now appear even on very low settings

Flare recipe is now unlocked via common blueprints

Development Branch update - v0.9.021.m017

We've just updated a new version (v0.9.021.m017) on the development branch.

This is a first version for the Procedural Update. This is still a work in progress and there's still bugs to iron out.

Warning : We changed the save file format, meaning the save file used in the beta branch won't be compatible with the main branch for a while. If you save a game in the beta branch, you won't be able to open it in the main branch until the main branch is updated (in a few weeks). Remember to backup your saves.

v v0.9.021.m017 - Temporary changelog :

New portals and procedural wrecks :
A new "long range wreck detector" machine is available, allowing you to open portals to new locations of the map
Those locations have multiple variations. In it, you'll find one or more procedurally generated wrecks
Those wrecks contains special loot that can be found only there
Each location requires quartz to open a portal, have differents rarity and difficulty levels
The portal will only stay open for a certain amount of time, after what it will close
If you do not go back in the portal before it close, you'll lose the content of your inventory

New items :
Flares allowing to illuminate a small area in dark places (Found only in procedural wrecks) (Found only in procedural wrecks)
New colored quartz required to open the rarer portals (Found only in procedural wrecks)

Optimizations :
Greatly improve overall controller support
Improve collisions on a lot of big rocky elements

Performances :
Upgrade the unity engine to increase stability & Performances
Add new culling system to avoid rendering base elements that are behind big mountains
Add new LOD levels on Foundations, Plain Walls & Windows Walls
Improve performances of butterflies animations

Reduce multiplicator of fuses (heat / pressure / plants / oxygen) :
We feel fuses were over powered, reducing the interest of the late game, making it too easy and not enjoyable
With the new addition of procedural wrecks, the chance to get more fuses will increase the balance of this system nicely
Fuses are still really powerfull, and used wiselly can add be of a tremendous help
We believe it's the best decision for the balance of the game and the overall fun

Misc. :
Add obsidian to the teleporter recipe
Change some recipes and balancing

The "Procedural Wrecks" Update is almost ready!

Hello terraformers!

It's been a little while since we announced the multiplayer version of Planet Crafter, and we are hard at work to improve all the aspects of the game before the 1.0 release.

We wanted to give you one last update before the full release, and it should be ready really soon!

At the same time we'll release this update, we will share more informations about the 1.0, the multiplayer and the future for the game!

What will be in the update?



  • A new portal generator allowing you to discover distant parts of your planet containing :

    1. New multiple small biomes with lots of variations and things to explore
    2. Wrecks procedurally generated with infinite possibilities and good loot
  • New items, materials and collectibles
  • Performances, controllers, and collisions optimizations

This update is a technical patch. It focuses on performances, controllers and backend improvements as well as preparing the game for multiplayer.

Warning : We changed the save file format, meaning the save file used in the beta branch won't be compatible with the main branch for a while. If you save a game in the beta branch, you won't be able to open it in the main branch until the main branch is updated (in a few weeks). Remember to backup your saves.

"Quality of life Update" Patch #1 - Main branch

Hello Terraformers!

I've just uploaded a small patch on the main branch.
As usual, restart Steam to get the patch.

This update mainly disable the treasure hunt, as the outcome of it (multiplayer announcement) has been found and revealed.

Announcing a Multiplayer Co-Op Mode for Planet Crafter!

Hello Terraformers!

Co-Op Multiplayer is coming to Planet Crafter in 2024!



After months of working in the shadows on this announcement, while updating the game at the same time, the Miju Games team is proud to announce that a co-op mode is coming to Planet Crafter in 2024!



In our first official roadmap, we hinted that a co-op mode could see the light if the game found success on Steam. It's only because of you, our amazing community who supported Planet Crafter since the beginning, that we are able to announce this today!

It's always something we've kept in our mind while developing the game, as we knew that exploring and terraforming a planet would be as fun with friends that it is doing it alone.

So we started working on it at the beginning of 2023 and are confident we can deliver this new mode during 2024. We won't share an official date yet, as we are still balancing and ironing things out.

This doesn't mean we will shift our focus from the solo experience. We will continue updating the game to add content the same way we did it during the last year, and these two modes will complement each other to improve the Planet Crafter experience.



So 2024 will be great for Planet Crafter, we can announce that three major things will be released next year: The 1.0 release, the co-op mode and the mammals update. For now, we can't say which one will come first, you'll have to wait a little bit more.

And after that, we will continue to maintain and update the game for a long time as we still have a lot of ideas to improve and expand it.

Quality of Life Update & Treasure Hunt!

Hello Terraformers!

We have three exciting news for you today !

Quality of life update



There's been some improvements that we could not ship in the last update, so we are releasing a small quality of life update.

By popular demand, you will now be able to trade cookies in space, and automate most of the food recipes.

You'll enjoy a new chip allowing you to pin blueprint recipes to your HUD.

Additionally, it's now possible to upgrade your equipment without unequipping it.




Surprise & Treasure Hunt



As we previously stated, we will make a big announcement in the coming days.
But before that, we wanted to tease you one more time, giving you the chance to discover the reveal before we officially announce it.

So we decided to create a treasure hunt within the game! So, for a limited time, before the announcement, you can try to uncover this secret.

"Volcanic Update" Patch #3 - Main branch

Hello Terraformers!

I've just uploaded a small patch on the main branch.
As usual, restart Steam to get the patch.

This update attempts to fix some crashes and stutters encountered by some players. We're sorry for the inconvenience, we really hope this will resolves the performance issues.

V 0.9.010 : Changelog

Performances

  • Increase reflection probe rendering time interval to avoid lag between biomes & crashes
  • Improve performances in new lava biome
  • Improve performances in lost paradise
  • Fix a bug with optimizers allowing to build without materials
  • Small improvements of performances overall
