Language:
+ [NEW] Spanish translation by PayDaPro * Fixed a couple of small translation errors in the german translation
Multiplayer:
* Fixed a desync when renaming a colony that no longer exists * Fixed a desync when demolishing a building or spaceship too quickly * Fixed a desync when upgrading a building too quickly * Fixed a desync that was caused in the background after placing certain buildings * Fixed a crash when closing the game after a multiplayer session
General:
+ Added a warning popup when trying to colonize a planet without coal, iron and clay for the first colony + Added a hotkey to upgrade buildings (Default key is "U") * Fixed an issue that prevented players from building residences if they are in dept * Fixed a crash when deleting a savegame
Settings:
~ Changed the default gamma value from 2.2 to 2.0 to make darker areas a bit easier to see ~ Gamma is now a percentage slider and has moved from the advanced to the general options tab. A higher gamma value now increases the brightness in darker areas while a lower value decreases the brightness
Engine:
* Fixed a crash when GLFW couldnt create a window * Planet ring markers are no longer cut off in the solar system view * Fixed a crash when a sound couldnt be loaded correctly
This will probably be the last patch before 0.2.0 (research update).

Planet S - State of the game #1
Hi everyone!
We thought it would be a great idea to share our thoughts and plans for the current state of the game with you every month. We want to improve our transparency with this to get you a better look at what we are currently working on and whats on our near future TODO list and maybe even a small look at some of the stuff that will await you in the next big update :).
Current state:
The game has now been out for roughly a month and we are really happy and greatful for all the great responses and feedback.
Tutorial:
One of the biggest problems in the first couple of days after release was that the game was missing a tutorial and therefore many had problems getting started. We have quickly added a basic tutorial that helps players getting started but as some of you have already pointed out, its not perfect, very basic and there is room for improvement. We think the same ways and thats why we will do a complete tutorial rework in one of the next bigger updates. We dont have a specific date or update name for that at this point but we will keep you all updated. One thing we definitley want to add is images and more info to each tutorial task plus adding in a couple of extra steps to better explain the current and upcoming game mechanics.
So Tldr:
Tutorial needs more work

A different font for large text blocks because the current one is a bit hard to read
Quality of life:
You guys also made a lot of requests and suggestions regarding quality of life. We have already addressed some of your requests like bigger spaceship hitboxes and markers, mass delete all open notifications via shift + right click, easier to understand trade routes direction buttons and couple more. Here are is a list of the things we are currently working on and will be part of one of the next updates:
Hightlighting the connected farm fields when selecting a farm
Showing more info in the overview camera (like what faction is owning which planets...)
Warning if a player wants to destroy their last spaceport/warehouse on a planet
Warning if a player tries to colonize a planet without iron, coal and clay as their first planet
Improvements to the gamma slider ingame (lower is currently brighter, higher is darker)
World seed is annoying to type in
Building a mine directly on a resource deposit from the little menu that pops open when selecting a resource
Improvements to the trade route menu
Added the tile type a building needs to be placed on (Ground/Beach/Ocean..) in the building menu tooltip
Upgrade hotkey for upgrading a building
....

Bugs:
There are still a couple of bugs on our TODO list that will get fixed in one of the next updates:
There is a potential desync in multiplayer when building or upgrading residences (Very difficult to reproduce on our machines thats why its taking a little longer to fix but we are working on it)
There is a potential desync when adding spaceships to a trade route too quickly
Sounds sometimes overlap very akwardly
Localization:
We added two additional languages to the game in the last couple of weeks: Dutch and Italian. Some people have already requested additional languages. Our current system is limited to ASCII-256 characters so most eastern languages are currently not possible but we have plans to move to a bigger supported charset in the future and we will let you know when that happens. There are also a couple of languages that we could support right now but dont have anyone that could do the translation. Spanish, Portuguese and French are languages that we could support with our current charset.
Feature requests:
We have also collected a lot of feature requests that were submitted by all of you and we wont talk about all of them here because then the post would become way too long but here are some of the most highly requested ones with our option and plan for them:
Statistics for goods and production ratios: This is definitley planned and we actually had plans for that for one of the last updates before leaving early access but we decided to pull this feature in and we hope to have a detailed statistics menu around the time we release the Diplomacy update. It will include production and consumption rates of goods for each building, planet and the entire faction and will give you a good overview of your economy
Terraforming: Many of you have requested some form of terraforming. We actually didnt have any plans for that but we are now considering that. We currently dont have a fixed plan for it but it could be something like a building you have to research that will allow you to remove mountains from a tile or remove beaches or ocean and so on
Combat and trading between players: Both are planned and already part of the roadmap (Diplomacy update and Military update)

What we are currently working on:
Besides the bugs and some of the QoL features we are currently mostly working on the big Research update. Its progressing very well and we are currently finishing up the research system. After that we will gradually add in all the remaining new buildings, do balancing and testing and then prepare for release. So the update is still very likely to be ready in August and we will talk more about it as we approach its release.

Planet S Version 0.1.6
Hi everyone, here is another little bug fix update.
Multiplayer:
* Fixed players being able to transfer goods from and to spaceports of other players * Fixed a rare crash that could happen for clients when the host closes the lobby
Trade routes:
~ Spaceships will now only load as many as specified in the trade route e.g. if you have a trade route that transports 50 clay to another planet the spaceship will never carry more than 50 clay and will therefore no longer fill up in case it couldnt unload all goods at the destination
Options:
~ The FPS limit is now a number box instead of a slider to make it easier to set your desired FPS limit ~ Brightness and contrast will now be restricted to be between 50% and 150% ~ Made extra sure that default option values will be loaded correctly on first start * Fixed an issue that cause clicks on dropdown menus to be registered by the UI element behind that
Engine:
~ The game will now start in borderless window mode instead of fullscreen mode on first start while we are investigating an issue that causes the game to crash on first start ~ Improved the error messages and checks in multiple areas ~ Improved the robustness of the Vulkan startup procedure * Fixed a rare crash when exiting the game * Fixed a minor Vulkan related issues during startup
Achievements:
+ There is now a new achievement that you get for completing the tutorial

Hi everyone! This is again a small update with a couple of small fixes and QoL improvements for notifications that were requested by the community plus a dutch translation for the game!
Language:
+ NEW Dutch translation by coekie
Notifications:
+ Tutorial notifications will now be fixed to the bottom of the notification tray + You can now mass dismiss notifications by pressing shift while right clicking a dismissable notification
Multiplayer:
+ The info panel for spaceships will now show you the owner of the spaceship if you select a ship from a different player * Fixed an internal crash that sometimes occured when receiving data from the host
Rendering:
* Potential fix for the random black squares that sometimes appeared on the surface of planets
UI:
~ The font size for the income and population count in the planet info menu will now also scale down to accommodate for large numbers

Hi everyone! This is just a small update that adds support for a new language plus a couple of bug fixes that were ready to ship.
Language:
+ NEW Added support for the italian language! The tanslation was created by LOQuacity Team!
Fixes:
* Fixed the amount spinner in the trade routes menu causing a crash when entering a realy large number (this time hopefully for good) * Fixed credits and building materials font size being very small when building something * Fixed the upgrade button in residences only showing up when you actually have enough building materials * Fixed progression not loading correctly for clients in multiplayer

Another day another patch. This patch addresses another patch of issues.
General:
~ Balance and building material font now scale to a lower font size for larger numbers * Fixed trade routes destroying items when either the ship or the colony is full * Fixed spaceship icons not showing up in the spaceships menu after constructing a spaceship * Fixed a crash when typing in an absurdly large number into the number field in the trade routes menu (Limit is now 1000) * Fixed the tutorial popup showing up when pausing the game * Fixed buildings unlocked popup showing up after loading a savegame
Engine:
~ Further improvements to the error messages ~ Build in a potential workaround for a bug on AMD+Nvidia system which is caused by an outdated AMD driver (game wouldnt start, no GPU) ~ Build in additional safety checks as workaround for some of Intels driver bugs

Hi everyone! This update again includes a number of bug fixes, a couple of quality of life improvements and a basic tutorial to get you started.
NEW Tutorial:
Many of you have told us that its kinda hard to get started with the game and we agree. To help new players getting started we are adding in an introduction tutorial.
When you start the game it will now show you a dialog and ask you if you want to do the tutorial. You can also directly disable this dialog by clicking "Never" or by disabling the tutorial in the options menu.
The tutorial is designed to help you find and control your spaceship, colonize a planet and build and supply your first city.
Notifications:
+ Notifications now show you if you can dismiss them and/or if you can click them to jump to the events location + Notifications can now take directly to a spaceship as well as a tile on a planet (besides just taking you to the planet) * Fixed an issue related to notifications after loading a savegame that causes some notifications to be corrupt and crash the game
UI:
+ The game now shows you an info box when its paused + Item slots now show you their item amount in the tooltip if you hover over the slot ~ The font color for item slots has been tweaked slightly to be a little bit more readable ~ Tweaked the layout of the menu for farming buildings to make it clearer where you can place fields * Fixed building materials not being marked in red in case the colony doesnt have enough of a certain resource to build a spaceship * Fixed a crash when typing unsupported characters into text fields * Fixed colony rename dialog not showing the current name of the colony and letting you enter empty names * Fixed a crash related to the minimap
Multiplayer:
* Fixed some chat messages being duplicated on some clients * Fixed clients sometimes saving multiplayer games in the wrong savegame group * Fixed rich presence for multiplayer lobbys after a player leaves
Spaceships:
~ Increased the size of the hitbox for spaceships (they should be easier to click now) ~ Spaceship markers are wider now and stay visible for closer camera distances * Fixed a crash related to spaceships and trade routes * Fixed spaceships sometimes "drifting" away from planets * Fixed an issue where spaceships were not able to interact with a spaceport after the spaceport was moved
Savegames:
* Fixed a crash related to city clusters when loading a savegame * Fixed faction progression not being loaded corretly from savegames
Engine:
+ Improved GPU Vulkan support detection + Improved startup error messages ~ A couple of UI rendering performance improvements * Fixed a spaceship culling issue resulting in all spaceships being rendered all the time * Fixed a framebuffer glitch when starting the game / loading a world / resizing the window
We are also aware of a couple of desyncs that sometimes happen in multiplayer and we are activley working on that.
Some people also had problems starting the game especially when using Intel integrated graphics. We are still investigating a couple of issues but many issues are happening in Intels driver so they are not our fault and we sadly cant fix them. In the meantime we have removed Intels chips from the minimum specs of the game. The best you can do right now is to get the absolulty latest driver from Intels website and hope for the best. We hope we can address some of those issues in a future update but some are just out of our hands.
Thats all the changes and additions for this update.

Hi everyone! This patch addresses a couple of issues related to trade routes, some multiplayer desync issues and a number of small things.
DISCLAIMER: Please check your trade routes after this update because you might have to reassign your spaceships to each trade route. This is caused by a bug we are fixing with this patch.
General:
* Fixed a crash when deconstructing a spaceship that was previously assigned to a trade route * Fixed a crash when loading a savegame on rare occasions related to trade routes * Fixed spaceships being assigned to a different than expected trade route after loading a savegame
Multiplayer:
* Fixed a potential desync after placing a building * Fixed a potential desync when assigning a spaceship to a trade route * Fixed an issue that prevented players from joining a lobby with a savegame that was just created (Lobby is full)
UI:
+ The tooltip for toggling the transfer direction the the trade routes menu now shows you the direction (load/unload) ~ Swapped out the icons of the toggle transfer direction button to be more clear and understandable (We would appreciate your feedback) ~ Decreased the time it takes for tooltips to show up (500ms before, now 250ms) ~ Tweaked the height of the chat frame so that it no longer overlaps with the trade routes menu * Fixed a very rare crash when dismissing a notification * Fixed an issue that caused the balance breakdown tooltip to show floating point numbers * Fixed a missing translation for game_pauseTradeRoute

You can now play Planet S! Here is a summary of the implemented features:
