Planet Zoo: Conservation Pack and Update 1.10 Out Now!

Hayo Zookeepers!

Learn more than ever before in Planet Zoo with the new Planet Zoo: Conservation Pack and free Update 1.10, both officially out now! Grab the pack now on Steam, and update your game to enjoy the free content ✨

The Conservation Pack brings 4 new habitat animals and 1 new exhibit animal from around the world to your zoos, all with a conservation status of Endangered or below. Embrace the majesty of Przewalski's Horse, spot the Amur Leopard as it enjoys its solitude, swing to your heart's content with the Siamang, and bask in the sun with the Scimitar-Horned Oryx. Your guests can also embrace adorableness with the new exhibit animal, the Axolotl!

Create the eco-positive zoo of your dreams with over 150 new scenery items! Enjoy a range of new foliage items including assorted meadow flowers, such as Buttercups and Oxeye Daisies, as well as Sunflowers, Tomato Plants, and Fig Trees - your zoo will have never looked more green! That's not the only way it can be green, as there's also a whole bunch of new eco-friendly scenery items such as a 3D Printed Concrete wall set. Capture the hard work that goes into conservation around your zoos with new backstage prop items, such as a rake, hose, and wheelbarrow! Please note that these items are decorative scenery only.

Lastly, join us over at Turtle Rock Wildlife Orphanage in our new Timed Scenario! Inspired by the Gorkhi Terelj National Park in Mongolia, you'll be tasked with rescuing, rehabilitating, documenting, and releasing as many species as possible. Not only that, but you'll also have to keep it green by only using renewable energy sources, and ensure that your Zoo has a high education rating throughout! It's quite the task, but we know you're up to it!

The Planet Zoo: Conservation Pack is available now on Steam for £7.99 ($9.99, 9.99€)

You must have the base Planet Zoo game to be able to play this content. Update 1.10 is out now to install and is free for all players.

Update 1.10 is free and available to all players who own the base Planet Zoo game! Simply update your game now to play.
You'll find lots of new exciting features in this update such as new Education Stations, new guest behaviours and even new animal behaviours! For full information on what you can find, check out the 1.10 announcement post, or continue reading for a summary!

Love learning? Your guests do too, and now they can learn at your Zoo's like never before with new Education Stations! These Stations are a set of new items that child guests can engage with, allowing them to gain a small happiness and education boost. Your adult guests get a new behaviour too, with the addition of Group Photos! Guests will now line up and pose as small groups, while another guest takes a photo, allowing them to capture the happy memories they've made in your Zoo, and to make your Zoo feel more alive than ever before.

Animals also gain new things to do with the addition of Sniffing and Chorus Behaviours! A range of animals throughout both the base game and Planet Zoo Packs will now be able to perform sniff interactions around their habitats, exploring and engaging with them in more realistic ways. Furthermore, the Arctic and Timber Wolves, alongside the new Siamang from the Conservation Pack, can now partake in a Chorus Call - a vocal "singing" behaviour performed in groups. They'll even continue it while wading or climbing!

The Siamang can also display an exciting new behaviour with the addition of a modular Climbing Frame. This item will allow the Siamang to perform its famous brachiation activity; which means they will be swinging freely around the frame. All other animals that are capable of climbing on thin frames will also be able to use this as a new standard climbing enrichment.

There's a range of other additions too including new Small Habitat Gates, and the completed roster of Shop Counters and Small Signs. For full information on all included, check out the 1.10 announcement and the Update Notes below.

Let all of these new additions shine with NVIDIA's GeForceNOW service, which gives you instant access to GeForce PC performance on nearly any PC, Mac, SHIELD TV, Android, iOS device or Chromebook without any downloads! This will let anyone experience the new Planet Zoo: Conservation Pack as well as Update 1.10, no matter what device they're on!

New Content - Free Update 1.10.0
  • NEW - Education Stations
    • Education Stations are a new way for guests in your zoo to interact with educational content. Guest groups with children can interact with these assets for a small boost to their happiness, education, and the zoo's overall education rating.
    • Three types of Education Stations are available via the Facilities > Media Devices and Education menu
      • Sound Education Station: A customisable sound board which allows guests to listen to an animal sound, before the image of the animal is revealed. Can you guess who you just heard howling? Both the image and sound can be customised by adding custom images and audio files to the game in the same way billboards and speakers can be customised
      • Height Education Station: An educational measuring station for guests to compare their height to that of an animal. Height Education Stations come in two variations: Giraffe and Gorilla
      • Pawprint Education Station: An educational station that lets guests compare their own hands to animal paws and feet.
  • NEW - Animal Chorus
    • The new chorus behaviour is available to the following animals:
      • Siamang
      • Timber Wolf
      • Arctic Wolf
    • Animals engaging in chorus behaviours have a chance to begin a chorus if they are currently idle and are within range of other members of the same species. Other idle animals in range of the chorus leader can be influenced by their action and decide to join in.
    • During a chorus, the leader will perform calls, which will be answered by other participants. The amount of calls and overall length of a chorus event depends on the species.
  • NEW - Brachiation
    • A new enrichment and climbing set, the Metal Climbing Frames, have been added to the base game of Planet Zoo, available to all players:
      • Metal Climbing Frame Beam
      • Metal Climbing Frame Ramp
      • Metal Climbing Frame Curve 180°
      • Metal Climbing Frame Curve 90°
      • Metal Climbing Frame Extension
    • This modular set of climbing assets is used by the Conservation Pack's Siamang for their exciting new brachiation behaviour, allowing these gibbons to swing freely across your custom built frames in their habitat
    • All animals who can navigate thin climbing pieces will also be able to climb across the Metal Climbing Frames using climbing locomotion
  • NEW - Sniff behaviours
    • Animals will now engage with changes in their habitat by investigating new objects or areas other animals have slept and left their scent in. When animals are idle, they will navigate to the most recently chosen point of interest and perform a sniffing animation:
      • When a new object (such as a new piece of foliage or a new enrichment item) has been placed inside a habitat, animals have a chance to want to sniff and explore this new addition
      • Animals will also leave a scent in spots they have slept in, which can dynamically generate a new point of interest other animals will want to check out
    • The chance of an animal expressing interest in such a change in their environment differs by species, with some being more inquisitive than others
    • Sniff behaviours are available to the majority of all species in Planet Zoo except for the following:
      • Aardvark
      • Aldabra Giant Tortoise

We are aware of an issue related to Siamangs brachiating between linked frames of the new climbing enrichment item. The team is hard at work to resolve this and in the meantime the Siamangs will still brachiate along individual sections of the frame. We’ll share more information over the coming days on when this fix will be available. Thank you for your patience!

🐾 Planet Zoo - Update 1.10 coming 21 June 🐾

Hayo Zookeepers!

It's nearly summer, the sun is shining, and what better way to celebrate than with some Planet Zoo news? Join us below as we take a look at what you can expect in the free 1.10 Update of Planet Zoo, available from 21 June. If you missed it yesterday, be sure to also check out the announcement of the Planet Zoo: Conservation Pack which will be coming to you on the same day! ✨

Education Stations
Educators had an upgrade in Update 1.9 when we added in the ability to explore your zoo and educate on the go with the Roaming Educator functions! However, there are more ways to learn than only from Educators, right?

Now your zoo guests can have a more immersive experience than ever before with new Education Stations!

These are new path facilities that, when placed, will provide an item for child guests to interact with and then gaining a minor education and happiness boost. These will have a set education topic and will not be able to be customised, but will come in 3 different types:
  • Height Measuring Station - compare your height against the Giraffe and Gorilla in your zoo! Are you taller?
  • Soundboard Station - press a button and hear a sound from one of the animals in your zoo! Did you know they make that sound?
  • Pawprint Station - compare your hands to the paws of the animal! How big is yours in comparison?
Child guests interacting with your Education Stations will also boost your zoo's Conservation Rating, but be careful! They can be vandalised, which will require repair from a Mechanic or direct replacement from yourselves.

Group Photos
Child guests aren't the only ones gaining a new behaviour! Currently, guest groups take photos of animals, but now your guests will join each other for even more fun by taking Group Photos! 📸

When this occurs, one member of the group will take the role of photographer with 1-5 others grouping together as the subjects. From here they will line up and happily pose together to capture a snapshot and remember the amazing time they had in your zoo!

To prompt a group photo to be taken, guests must be viewing a habitat and have an overall happiness rating of above 50%.

Animal Sniffing Behaviour
So, your guests have gained some new behaviours... but what about your animals? 🤔

Watch your animals engage with their surroundings even more than before with the new Sniffing Behaviour!

While some animals already have a sniff animation, this new feature adds sniffing as an active behaviour for the majority of animals in your zoos, but not all. See below for a list of which will be excluded! When placing items in your habitat, the game will generate a set of "sniff points" that your animals can then interact with - after all, they'll want to find the most interesting places to smell! These "sniff points" will exist per enclosure and, when a habitat is destroyed, they will be removed as well - and new ones will be regenerated if you rebuild or use the undo button! - so make sure you're okay with this adjustment before doing any removals.

Animals that will not have the new Sniffing Behaviour:
  • Aardvark
  • Aldabra Giant Tortoise
  • Chinese Pangolin
  • Galapagos Giant Tortoise
  • Gharial
  • Greater Flamingo
  • Hippopotamus
  • Indian Peafowl
  • Indian Rhinoceros
  • Nile Monitor
  • Saltwater Crocodile
  • Pygmy Hippo
  • Komodo Dragon
  • Koala
  • Grey Seal
  • King Penguin
  • Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman
  • African Penguin
  • Southern White Rhino
  • American Alligator
  • California Sea Lion
  • Platypus
  • Red Crowned Crane
  • Spectacled Caiman

Animal Chorus Behaviour
That's not all! Now some of your animals can try their hands - or rather, their voice! - at musical stardom, with the new Animal Chorus Behaviour 🎵

Some animals, including the new Siamangs coming in the Conservation Pack, are known to perform group "calling" as a social activity. This new behaviour comes to Planet Zoo as the Arctic and Timber Wolves, alongside the new Siamang, will be able to perform Chorus Calls with each other - even while wading or climbing! There will be a range of calls available which the Chorus Leader (the animal who starts the Chorus) will randomly select one from, and will continue until all animals in the Chorus have joined in. After this, they will either randomly select a new call to continue the Chorus or will end the Behaviour.

New Climbing Enrichment
What better way for your animals to show their excitement this summer than with a new climbing frame to enjoy in the sun?
This new climbing frame enrichment can be used by your animals that can make use of thin climbing pieces. However, that's not all! For our new Siamangs, these become a playground of high-flying fun thanks to their new brachiation behaviour! Brachiation means you'll see the Siamangs swinging around your frames, in ways you've not seen before.

Small Habitat Gates
You'll now have even more control over the look of your habitats with our new Small Habitat Gates!

These gates provide a shorter alternative gate for habitat entrances, allowing a sleeker look for low-walled enclosures. A small variation of all current habitat gate styles will be included.

Additional Shop Counters & Signs
Shop Counters and Small Signs were added in Update 1.8, providing a counter-only version of some of your favourite shops so that you could really go wild with your store customisation. As of Update 1.10, we'll be adding these variations for all of the missing shops! This will include:
  • Cosmic Cow Ice-cream
  • Gulpee Soda
  • Pipshot Juice
  • Pipshot Water
  • Mexelente
  • Missy Good
  • Monsieur Frites
  • Pizza Pen
  • Hats Fantastic
  • Just A Momento
  • Loony Balloons
  • Information Center
As always, Update 1.10 will also come with various fixes alongside all of this new content, which will be included in the Update Notes upon release on 21 June.

All of these new features should come together to really make your zoo a lively and thriving place to be! What are you most excited about?

Join us on our social media in the run-up to launch as we take a look at the animals and some of the scenery coming to you later this month in the Planet Zoo: Conservation Pack.

You can find us on TwitterInstagram, and Facebook. Also, be sure to tune in to our Planet Zoo community streams every Tuesday at 17:00 BST on TwitchYoutube, and Steam!

Planet Zoo: Conservation Pack arriving 21 June

Hayo Zookeepers,

Plot twist! You might have already clued in from our special stream yesterday but we're here with some exciting news - the next Planet Zoo Pack will be the Conservation Pack, arriving 21 June. We're sure you have questions about Update 1.10, and we'll have more news on that for you soon, but for now - let's take a look at all of the exciting stuff coming your way this summer!

Discover 5 new endangered animals from around the world, and over 150 new scenery pieces, with a strong focus on the amazing work that zoos do for conservation efforts worldwide!

Be in awe of the majesty of Mongolia's Przewalski's Horse, the last truly wild horse in the world and currently listed as endangered. Watch the Amur Leopard as it prowls, a critically endangered Leopard from the border areas of Russia and China. Swing freely with the endangered Siamang from protected areas of Indonesia and Malaysia, the largest of all Gibbons. Enjoy the sun with the Scimitar-Horned Oryx, an Antelope from North Africa that is now listed as Extinct in the Wild. Last, but not least, marvel at the Axolotl, our critically endangered new exhibit animal that was originally from Lake Chalco and Lake Xochimilco.

Builders have a lot of exciting things coming for them too, with over 150 new scenery items to enjoy!

Conservation is about more than just animals and, to reflect that, you're in for a real treat with the foliage included in this Pack. Plant-life conservation is critical due to the unfortunate impact of monoculture and the depletion of natural water resources. To highlight this aspect of conservation, we're adding some foliage pieces such as the Tomato Plant, Fig Tree, and Korean Pine! You can also create a haven of sweeping meadow flowers including foliage such as Buttercups, Oxeye Daisies, and Poppies!

Furthermore, you'll gain a range of other scenery items with a strong theme of self-sustainability, such as a set of wooden slat off-grid pieces, a new 3D printed concrete wall set, grass roof tiles, and even backstage display-only items such as a rake, hose, and wheelbarrow!

Feeling inspired to take up your own conservation efforts? Give it a try with our new Timed Scenario! Head on over to Turtle Rock Wildlife Orphanage where you'll be challenged to rescue, rehabilitate, document, and release as many animals as possible. Sustainability and education will also be a huge part of this scenario, so you'll need to power your zoo with renewable energy, host a range of plant diversity, and make sure there are plenty of Educator areas for your guests to learn from!

The Planet Zoo: Conservation Pack will be available for purchase for £7.99 ($9.99, 9.99€) on Steam from 21 June. If you want to be notified when the game is available, then head on over to Steam and wishlist it now! Please remember that you'll only be able to enjoy the Planet Zoo: Conservation Pack if you already own the base game of Planet Zoo.

As mentioned before, we'll have more news on Update 1.10 for you soon. You can also join us on our social media on the run-up to launch as we take a look at the animals and some of the scenery coming to you in this Pack, as well as learn a little bit more about conservation together.

What are you most excited for in this pack - is it one of the animals, or maybe some of the foliage? Let us know below!

The Planet Zoo: Wetlands Animal Pack is available now on Steam for £7.99 ($9.99, 9.99€)
You must have the base Planet Zoo game to be able to play this content. Update 1.9 is out now to install and is free for all players.

Update 1.9 is free and available to all players who own the base Planet Zoo game now, simply update your game to play!
This update brings exciting new features including free-roaming Educators, a new way for your Educator staff to bring enriching experiences to your guests. If you missed it, head over and check out some of our team trying their hand at becoming Educators in our announcement video!

It's not just the Educators who can get up-close and personal with your zoo guests now, thanks to the new Roaming Camera! This camera mode lets you see your zoo from a guest-level point of view. Now you can see what your exhibits look like as if you were really there!

As mentioned above, new bathing behaviours are making their way to Planet Zoo. While players will need the Wetlands Animal Pack to add Capybaras to their zoos, they won't miss out as this behaviour is also enjoyed by the Japanese Macaques! Simply create a shallow pool of water and heat it with a Water Temperature Regulator to create an experience your Macaques are sure to love. To help you find the right depths for this, we've also added a new Flatten to Terrace terrain brush! This isn't the only behaviour change, with the small burrows being added in update 1.9 that can be used by the Meerkat, Prairie Dog, and newcomer that is the Platypus from the Wetlands Animal Pack.

Alongside this we've made a few other additions including a new management screen for speakers, billboards and cameras, making them easier to manage than ever, and new water options including flexicolour on exhibit water, and mist/bubble effects in habitats. For more info on this and other quality of life updates, check out our 1.9 Update announcement post.

You can also care for your Capybaras using NVIDIA's GeForceNOW service, which gives you instant access to GeForce PC performance on nearly any PC, Mac, SHIELD TV, Android, iOS device or Chromebook without any downloads! This will let anyone experience the richness of the Wetlands and Planet Zoo no matter the device they're on!

Thank you as always to our incredible PlanZo fam for the love and support in the run-up to this release! We know the Capybara in particular is one you've been excited for, and we can't wait to see how you spoil them in your zoos. Planet Zoo - Update 1.9 coming 12 April

Hayo Zookeepers!
It's time for us to take a closer look at what you can expect from the upcoming Planet Zoo free update, which will be available for you to enjoy from 12 April.

Are you ready to see what you can expect from Update 1.9? Let's go!

Roaming Educators
That's right, free-roaming Educators will soon be...roaming their way to your Zoo! This is a brand new way for your Educators to share their animal knowledge with your guests as they walk around, bringing some extra educational activity along with them. Whenever an Educator isn't travelling, resting, or at an Animal Talk Point, they'll be able to wander around and give mini talks to your guests to help educate them on some of the animals present in your zoo! To celebrate this exciting new experience for your guests, we decided to try our hand at replicating some of the hard work that Roaming Educators will be putting in at your Zoo very soon...see how we got on, below!

[previewyoutube="8z-QBmuMVQ8;full"]

Explore Camera Mode
Speaking of roaming, we're very excited to share that with the launch of Update 1.9, you'll be able to make the most of a new Explore Camera Mode - seeing (and editing!) your Zoo from a guest-level point of view! You'll be able to see your Zoo as if visiting it yourself, giving you a great perspective from which to make any building or decorative adjustments, as well as offering a brand new way for you to fully immerse yourself in your builds.

Audio Visual Management Screen & Webcams on Billboards
Managing your audio and media boards just got even easier! This new Audio Visual Management Screen will allow you to manage the screens and speakers within your Zoo from one location, allowing you to see which clips or audio are being used by each output device, as well as the status and running costs of each screen, speaker, or camera in your Zoo, so you can deliver a fully immersive educational experience with total ease. To add to this offering, you'll also be able to incorporate your Webcam feeds from burrows onto your billboards, allowing your guests to get a closer look at your animals when they are using their burrows!

New Water Options
Did someone say flexicolour? With the upcoming Update 1.9, you can now completely customise the colour of water in any exhibit which features it, allowing you to have more control than ever over exactly how your exhibit animals are displayed and viewed in your Zoos. Which exhibits are you going to inject with a burst of colour first?

Your Habitats won't be missing out on some aqua-based features, either; with Update 1.9, you'll be able to add both Mist and Bubble effects to your Habitat's water! You'll be able to implement these options from the water information panel, alongside the transparency and water colour options which are already in-game, and the Mist VFX will also offer customisable colour.

Bathing Behaviours
The perfect way to unwind? In a hot spring, of course! With Update 1.9, we're introducing bathing behaviours - simply create a shallow pool of water and heat it with a water temperature regulator (keeping it to the animals' requirements, of course!) to create the perfect hot spring for your Japanese Macaque to bathe in. This behaviour will help to reduce animal stress, so it's a great way to provide a more relaxing environment within your habitats.

Flatten to Terrace Brush
To help create the shallow pool you'll need for your new hot springs, you'll be able to use the new Flatten to Terrace brush! This new terrain brush is available with Update 1.9, and offers a Terrace Height setting and a Shallow Pool Offset option, which are incredibly helpful if you're wanting to create rice terrace structures within your Zoo.

Small Burrows
With Update 1.9, smaller animals will now be able to adopt burrowing behaviours. You'll be able to place small burrows for both Meerkats and Prairie Dogs in your Zoos - and don't forget that you can now add webcam feeds from burrows to your billboards, too, so you'll be able to see your animals enjoying these new smaller burrows!

As always, these exciting new features in Update 1.9 come with various fixes which will be included in the full patch notes upon release.

We'll have more news for you soon, but until then, join us this coming Monday, 28 March, on Twitch and YouTube for a very special self-care stream that you won't want to miss - we'll see you there!
