Codex pickups have been delivered to every planet in the solar system! They also appear on Pluto and the moon!
Codex pickups contain fun facts that appear in the quizzes.
Pickups give facts related to the planet they are found on.
The pickups also display a code, which someone decoded fairly recently. See if you can decode it yourself, or look through past content to find the answer!
I am aiming to transition out of Early Access relatively soon, hoping to do so within a year into full release!
Heart of Gold Update
Congratulations on finding the secret heart! The Quivakons delivered 3 helium heart balloons to Mars as a reward! They can be found on the ceiling of the second floor of the Mars base. They are fun to hit with projectiles, and it is fun to break out a window and let the balloon fly up! They give you a bit of aluminum and helium if you collect them. There are a number of other updates too!
Added Heart Helium Balloon Pickups to Mars (Valentine's Day Challenge Reward)
Added Space Slug Voiceovers for Jupiter and Neptune
Added Codex Pickups to parts of the outer solar system
Added voiceover to Uranus
Made it so projectiles can go beyond the bounds on Mars
Valentine's Day - Find the Heart
Can you find the secret heart for Valentine's Day (or within the week)? If so, comment here where it is, and I will add an in game reward!
Grit, Ice, and Codex Pickups
As a reward for the recent secret hunting, the Quivakons have delivered bits of knowledge in the form of codex pickups! Find them currently throughout the inner solar system. Each pickup provides a tidbit of knowledge that might be covered on that planet's quiz (provides 1 of 25 possible questions and answers per pickup). Expect them to be delivered to the outer solar system as well pretty soon! There may also be a hidden message to the codex, can you decipher it? Post a response here if you do, and the Quivakons will deliver another award in game!
Are you prepared to get a little dirty while exploring? When out and about on a world that is known or thought to be dusty, you will get dust on your lens. Try flying through the comet tail, it is really cool to be coated in frozen comet dust! When it is cold and there is something to condense into ice, you will get ice forming around the edges of your lens as well. When you go inside and warm up, the frost will vaporize.
Here is a list of the new additions:
Added new Codex pickups - these give a random quiz question and answer upon pickup - these are a reward for secrets found so far! They have been provided in the inner solar system. There may be an encoded message on them as well - can anyone decipher it?
Added dusty lens effect for dusty worlds
Added icy lens effect for icy worlds, which goes away once in a warmer place
Fixed bugs where brightness would fluctuate - causing a blinding effect - in multiple locations where noticed

Twitch Stream and Bug Fixes
I have fixed a few more bugs that Real_Bytes_Gaming found on her Twitch stream. Planetary Settlers is streaming tonight at midnight (technically 1/25/2021) Eastern Standard Time at: https://www.twitch.tv/real_bytes_gaming
Bug fixes include:
Fixed issue with brightness on Uranus and Neptune (now it doesn't get extremely dim when looking near / at the sun, but it now properly dims a little bit). Brightness throughout the two levels is also better.
Mostly fixed character facing the wrong way when exiting portals.
Updated the controls menu to include the new ability to use the F key (or E key), whichever you desire, as the action button.
On Uranus: made ship engine flames less laggy, and turned them off when parked. This prevents the lag spike that was observed in the last stream in the hanger.
Feature updates include:
Updated title screen with the vast majority of the title screen visible now (and not hidden by the game saves menu). Click the Game Saves menu, then make your selection - as before, or Resume Game to resume your current game.
Updated Credits page
Clarified Nanites are what gives you your ability points - it shows up in the menu now as Ability Points (Nanites). They are microscopic robots that can be used to upgrade Blue-42's abilities, and are able to be re-allocated as desired in the abilities tab.
Here's a tip for those that have made it this far: It can be a big help to adjust your ability points to meet the current challenge, like, for a race, you can turn down things you don't need at the time, and max out speed.
A second tip: Speed also affects your speed in the air! If you need more control in the air, try to max your speed out. If you need more (or less) lift, adjust your jet pack. Enjoy!
Comet Chaos Clean-Up-Date
I have made a number of improvements / bug fixes to the comet level, and elsewhere! There are more missions planned for this level, but you can already go right up to the comment, fly through the tail, and collect fragments that are breaking off the comet. These can be useful for the crafting that is currently on Jupiter and coming soon to bases elsewhere.
Comet Updates:
It is now easier to make it through the doors of the space station near the comet - there is now a raised floor that helps.
You can now walk on the floor, and jump (though, as is true in 0 g, you don't come back down - you have to jetpack down - with Z).
Fixed a bug with the shielding required to go to the comet being less than that of the moon level - now it works properly. Note that shielding is automatically adjusted for what is needed as long as you have enough ability points, or it will tell you that more ability points are required for the region (e.g. lower an ability slider or complete challenges).
There is also a secret now in the comet level (fairly recently added)!
General Updates:
The Quivakons delivered 4 gold bars to the Mars Base for secrets found by Real_Bytes_Gaming on Twitch. These are now available to all players!
Improved the title screen with the new portal look and detail.
Added a new load screen when loading a game.
Made it so the F key (as well as the current E key) work as the action button.

Space Slug Stirrings
We rescued the Mimzy the space slug on Mercury, but she inked us in the process, leaving behind a big mess! I didn't know they could ink! Can you find her (on Mercury) and check to make sure she is doing okay? It seems she, and other space slugs have undergone some interesting changes as well:
We also discovered a strange shell near where she was stuck, apparently the space slugs molt!
We think all the space slugs have molted, and moved. Try to confirm this. Try to find their shells and new locations! If you find any (slugs or shells), take a screenshot (F12) and share it with the community! If it is a new space slug in the outer solar system, you can also name it in your community post (keep it clean though), and it will eventually learn to speak its name!
There are also rumored to be albino space slugs now, if you find one of those, please share a screenshot for further research! Once one is found, we can do more research and find out more!
They have grown the ability to show emotion, via their colors! The frequency of the light increases with more positive emotion. Their veins now glow a certain color, and pulse with their heart beat!
Space slug emotions (by vein glow color):
Red = Angry
Yellow = Scared or sad
Green = Happy
Blue = Excited (very happy)
Violet = Overjoyed!
Mimzy was angry right after we rescued her... could it be something to do with the inky mess she made?
Special Secrets Scavenger Hunt - Space Slugs, Snowman, and more!
Rewards are being offered in game for secrets found before the end of 2020, just take a screenshot (F12) and post it to the Planetary Settlers community page! It just has to be a new secret. If you find a new space slug before the end of the year, you get the privilege of naming it (the name must be kid friendly though)! For every secret found, the Quivakons will deliver a gift (a pickup in the game)! I will be updating the counts as people post to the community page.
(0/1 found) The Snowman - The snowman is still hiding somewhere in Planetary Settlers, can anyone find it and upload a picture of it before 2020 ends? Use F12 to take a screenshot, then upload it to the community page!
(4/9 found) Lost Pet Space Slugs - The ones that are still lost can't talk yet, and they are in the outer solar system! If you find one of these, post in the community page, and you get to name it! It is rumored the Quivakons lost one on Jupiter, two on Saturn, one on Uranus, and one on Neptune! They really like to hide, but thankfully their veins do have a slight green glow - which can help to locate them.
(0/6 found) Secret consoles - these give you special projectiles you can use, like a bowling ball! One or two might have been highlighted in past game posts, but they are still fair game! If you find it, post a picture on the community page! There is also a super secret console on the sun level that grants a really good ability!
(0/? found) More secrets - there are plenty of other hidden secrets throughout the game!
