macOS Support & 1.2 Update

macOS

Please Fix The Road was originally released for Windows and Linux and was quickly Steam Deck Verified (some say that our Lord Gabe Newell himself verified my game, but that's just a theory). Today, I am completing the platform collection and adding macOS support (both old Intel and new Apple silicon).

Update 1.2

I am currently working to deliver you the Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation ports of the game. I really wanted to fix all of the bugs I've discovered for these versions and bring these changes to PC as well. The game should perform even better.

  • Updated the Unity engine to the latest LTS version
  • Performance improvements for water, physics, and UI (you can thank the Switch port)
  • Faster closing of the game
  • New particles and developer logo in the intro sequence
  • Bugfix: Sometimes, the bottom UI doesn't show up mid-tutorial
  • Bugfix: Rare crashes on less powerful machines or during heavy lag
  • Bugfix: Rare animation bugs on less powerful machines or during heavy lag
  • Bugfix: It was possible to bug out the undo/redo feature with specific actions
  • Bugfix: Missing script errors in the log file
  • Bugfix: During very long play sessions, some level switch animations glitched a bit
  • Bugfix: Tile icons at the bottom UI are sometimes off-center

Arrghh!

On the game launch date, I released a special unlicensed version of the game on torrents as a sign of good faith to my "unpaid clients". From now on, you can enable this mode by adding a super-secret "pirate" command-line argument ːsteamhappyː

Future

If you enjoyed Please Fix The Road perhaps you could kindly join my Discord server as well? I'm currently working on my next title, and it's the best place to get more information about it sometime next year. Alternatively, you can join my mailing list that you can find it ony my website and I'll send you a lovely e-mail with chocolate and kisses... if you prefer that. Be patient, let me cook ːpftr_loveː

Please Fix The Road Trading Cards!

Hello!

Today I've surpassed 10.000 copies sold, which I thought would be an unachievable milestone. Big thanks for deciding to buy the game!

Thanks to your purchases, Steam unlocked the ability to release Trading Cards for Please Fix The Road. For sure, it's a very cool addition to the game. As you can see, they are as colorful as the game itself.

You are able to collect a set of five cards, each represents one of the color themes from the game, and they include all the pathway types (road, water, rail and dirt).

Thank you once again, and I hope you enjoy them. Cheers!

Patch Notes | 1.1.7 (19 June 2022)

  • Implemented a possible workaround for a bug, where on a very rare occasion you wouldn't be able to use the current tool until you open and close the options menu when playing on a gamepad. This simple bug has been haunting me for a long time. Only saw it on Twitch streams a few times, and today I saw it again.
  • Fixed an issue, where the readability grid would be rendered over the tool indicators.

Patch Notes | 1.1.6 (19 June 2022)

  • Exit to desktop button moved to a separate panel, has a red highlight and requires a confirmation to exit the game.
  • A new popup will appear, that teaches you how to reset the current tool the first time you use the Copy Tool. Some players, even at 30+ levels didn't know, that they can right-click or press the east gamepad button for this. This will also appear for existing players, because I can't confirm if you already know about this (I didn't track resets before update).
  • You can now open the options menu at the very beginning of the game (before intro credits) and in the tutorial at level 1.
  • Fixed minor issue with keyboard/gamepad navigation in options.

Patch Notes | 1.1.5 (17 June 2022)

  • The more levels you complete, the more levels you can skip ahead.
  • Starting tutorials now have a very clear progress indicator. Some people got confused and stuck for a few moments, because they didn't use WASD/Left gamepad stick for long enough.
  • A new popup tutorial will show the first time you use the Rotation Tool if you are using Mouse+Keyboard controls.
  • Removed some decoration on levels 11 and 20, that obstructed the view too much.
  • Level 6 was moved to position 9 (nice).

Patch Notes | 1.1.4 (16 June 2022)

  • Fixed a few visual issues of the new grid readability feature.

Patch Notes | 1.1.3 (16 June 2022)

  • Simplified level 17 based on how players on YouTube or Twitch tried to solve it.

Patch Notes | 1.1.2 (16 June 2022)

  • Added a black grid to the tiles that improves map readability. By default it's subtle, but you can adjust its power in the options to make it really strong or disable it completely.
  • Resolution slider now filters out too big resolutions (bigger than your system resolution).
