This Saturday: First gameplay footage from the Highway Patrol Expansion!
x
Fellow Officers,
A world premiere awaits you: This Saturday, we'll provide a FIRST look & EXCLUSIVE gameplay of the Highway Patrol Expansion. Live from PAX East in Boston and broadcasted straight from the Albatross Theatre, we'll present car chases, fires at accidents, truck checks, and more.
Tune in to the astragon PAX Showcase to see the Highway Patrol Expansion in action - it will start on March 23, 2024 at 4:00pm EDT / 8:00pm GMT / 9:00pm CET.
Pick Up The Chase: Introducing The Highway Patrol Expansion!
Fellow Officers,
It’s time to increase the speed, explore the outskirts of Brighton, and elevate your responsibilities – welcome to the Highway Patrol Expansion, coming to Police Simulator: Patrol Officers this Summer!
Police Simulator will become bigger, better, faster. And today, we’re giving you a first look at what’s inside!
Brighton is growing!
The Highway Patrol Expansion will extend both the jurisdiction of the Brighton Police Department and your duties as an ever-helpful patrol officer. As the name of the expansion so discreetly suggests, you will finally be able to leave the inner city and stroll on the vast highway that surrounds the entirety of Brighton to explore the wider State of Franklin.
With the expansion, the map will be bigger than ever before – with entrance and exit ramps, overpasses, interchanges, and everything else you’d rightfully expect. From precincts at the highway to gas stations, motels, rest areas, and weigh stations – all these new places must be policed by you as a highway patrol officer.
Let’s speed things up!
The highways surrounding Brighton offer new challenges as they are known for being fast-paced and eventful. For the very first time, we’re introducing car chases into the game: Intense highway chases are inevitable, and when fleeing suspects do not obey, requesting roadblocks, executing PIT maneuvers, utilizing the brand-new spike strips, and employing other strategies may become necessary. After all, the grand reopening of the highway also leads to a concerning surge of car thefts, while drunk drivers pose an even greater risk for other users of the road.
The highway also introduces other new dangers: Larger accidents can include fires you must extinguish with the brand-new fire extinguisher, and scattered debris that you must pick up. After all, it’s your responsibility to ensure that not only the streets of Brighton but also the highways of Franklin are always safe!
Check the trucks, assist the drivers
People need goods – and of course, they are brought from A to B by our incredible freight drivers! For safety reasons, several regulations exist which must be met by all drivers at all times. At the weigh stations, you have to investigate if the trucks are still within the legal limits – after all, there’s only so much a truck is allowed to transport. In addition, papers must be inspected, and the truck should be checked for potentially illegal items.
Along the highway, several drivers will require your assistance. A broken-down car? Find out what’s going on! Someone is driving suspiciously? Make sure they’re not DUI! The citizens of Franklin will be thankful for your ongoing commitment.
New cars to play and patrol with
The Highway Patrol Expansion will include two beautiful new patrol cars: The Interstate Police Vehicle might be a throwback to the past, but even in our modern present it will always look and feel cool. The Endurance Police Vehicle is an incredibly powerful SUV, tailored for pursuits and perfect for intercepting fleeing drivers, thanks to a heavy-duty device that can be used to stop fleeing vehicles at full speed.
Something for everyone
With the Highway Patrol Expansion, we will introduce a bunch of free new features and improvements that can be enjoyed by everybody – without having to own the DLC.
In preparation for the Highway Patrol Expansion, we’re overhauling the entire NPV lane switching behavior, letting the AI react smarter to your moves. In addition, car physics and damage models will also be greatly improved, while new NPV designs have been added.
Within the City of Brighton, everyone will also be able to experience carnapping: NPCs can steal a car and drive away, which – should you observe that - might require you to stop them with a PIT maneuver as long as they’re still in your area of responsibility!
At car accident sites, debris can spawn that has to be picked up so that it won’t cause a danger for other road users. Make sure to remove every single bit – sometimes, you’ll even receive a callout just for that.
In addition, cars can now break down and become stranded at the side of the road. Not good! Make sure to assist the drivers, find out what’s wrong with the vehicle, and call for a tow truck.
SAVE THE DATE: Exclusive gameplay reveal at PAX East!
During this year's PAX East from March 21 to 24 in Boston, you will be able to experience the Highway Patrol Expansion for yourself! Get your hands on the latest build at the astragon Entertainment booth (booth 16105).
For everyone at home, we have something very special planned: On March 23rd from 4:00 to 5:00pm EST, we will host an exclusive livestream right from the PAX Showfloor. At the astragon PAX Showcase panel, we will reveal never-seen-before gameplay from the Highway Patrol Expansion and show it in all its glory.
