PostCollapse 1.05 update

Postcollapse update 1.05 is now available.

This update improves the performance of the game and adds lots of cosmetic changes, but also includes some minor new features wished by the community:

  • There are some changes which make the world a bit more interestingly looking. Some of them already made it into an unannounced minor update a few weeks before, so you might have seen this already if you updated recently:

    - Some houses and special areas are now surrounded by fences
    - There are now flowers fields
    - The grass now looks a bit nicer
    - Buildings placed on hills are no longer placed at unrealistic heights

  • The game now supports Steam Trading cards
  • Added support for Y inverted mouse input (see Settings -> Input)
  • Lots of performance improvements. For example when lots of chained fences come into the view some systems slowed down significantly. This is no longer the case. Also the game slowed down sometimes when there where many animals in the vicinity, this is also no longer the case.
  • Cupboards in buildings now have correct lighting when standing in front of them and using a match stick or torch in the night.
  • The endgame screen now is a bit bigger so you can see the statistics better, and has its own music (created by Johannes C. Meffert)
  • Grass and leave movement is now also very smooth on fast systems (it was stuttering sometimes on some systems)
  • There is now a hint printed when the player doesn't notice that there is a game action menu
  • Fixed a bug causing fleeing deers sometimes get stuck on fences

I'm already working on the next update which will include new and more gameplay additions. Hope you'll like this update anyway, feedback is welcome as always!

PostCollapse 1.04 update

Postcollapse update 1.04 is now available.

This content update adds some major new features wished by the community:

  • You can now modify the walls of buildings using the axe and the new building tools item:

This can be used once you have created a headquarter. For modifying buildings, you are limited to size of the building, but you can also extend the building on the top.

  • You can now construct facilities and place them freely in the world.
Currently, available are two types of cupboards to create, which you can use to store your stuff in. But it is a beginning.

  • Additionally to the existing rabbits, bears and deers, there are now wild boars in the game. They are a bit more dangerous and will attack on sight. Running away from them is an option, but you can also try to fight them.

  • Once you have a headquarter, you can now also destroy cupboards by right clicking them and selecting the new menu command for this.
  • Radiation in impact zones is now quite a bit more dangerous, but you will now find even more items there.
  • Dropping items is now less annoying: The game will only ask for confirmation for the first dropped item of each type.
  • It is now possible to construct nails from scrap metal and wire
  • Hunting arrows now cause a bit more damage
  • Cupboards in houses now look a bit better, and there is also a kitchen unit to be found sometimes now
  • Fixed a bug causing some containers in impact areas to have too less items sometimes
  • Fixed a bug causing music and sound slider not to reflect the actual new sound and music volume on some systems

Hope you'll like this, feedback is welcome as always!

PostCollapse 1.03 update

Postcollapse update 1.03 is now available.

This is the first content update, including small new features wished by the community.

Changes in this update are:

  • There are now impact zones in the game where bombs have been dropped in the resource war, years ago. You can only stay for a short time in such an area because of the radiation, but you can find more items there. These zones are marked on the map automatically.
  • Adjusted some stats causing fitness not to decrease if player is constantly sleeping
  • The flora now is a bit more high resolution and looks nicer:

  • Jumping now feels more smoothly and also causes sounds
  • Updated some of the textures of the buildings, so some of them look much nicer now
  • It is now possible to bind left and right Alt, Shift and Control keys separately in the input settings. They also now work nicely when binding them to the movement controls. If you previously used Alt, Control or Shift in your input settings, you will likely have to set them again, sorry for that.
  • Added a new sound track composed by Johannes C. Meffert, which is now interchanged dynamically with
the other main game sound track during game play
  • Fixed a bug causing labels on the map not to appear when playing with russian language

Hope you'll like this, feedback is welcome. The next update with some features extending the game play a bit more is already being worked on.

PostCollapse 1.02 update

Postcollapse update 1.02 is now available. This is the first update, a smaller one including small changes and implemented wishes by the community. Note that bigger additional game play features are already being worked on and scheduled for the next update.

Changes in this update are:

  • Sleeping in buildings now causes hunger and thirst to increase less quickly
  • Nails are a bit more easier to find now (especially in cars)
  • The head quarter on the map is now more visibly marked with an orange dot
  • Labels on the map no longer overlap the position of the player
  • The default shortcut for the backpack is now 'I' instead of 'B', previously. If you have modified your settings before, you will still have the old keys. You can adjust this setting in the 'input' tab of the settings dialog.
  • It is now possible to close backpack and map again with the same shortcut (default 'I' or 'M')
  • There is now a warning printed if you try to sleep outside of a building
  • Added some more music composed by Johannes C. Meffert
  • Shift, Control and Alt (right) now also usable as key bindings in the game settings
  • Repeated jumping is now no longer possible by holding down the space bar (or whatever key is assigned)
  • Fixed a bug causing winter dialog to popup during searching containers under certain circumstances

Hope you'll find this useful, feedback is welcome. I hope to get the next update with some more exciting and bigger new features out soon as well.
