v2.9 Ball Rework

I've finally gotten to slightly reworking The Ball character. I've been meaning to do this for a while but I just couldn't think of a good way that felt good to me.

Turns out the solution was really simple:

  • The Ball now has life points, hitting minimum radius will now damage the player the same way The Snake takes damage.
  • The Ball now has the same difficulties as The Snake

I feel pretty dumb for not realizing how easy a fix this is and how long it took me to put in. Hopefully The Ball is now fun to play!

There will be new achievements in the next patch but I'm a little busy this Christmas break.

Enjoy,
Ben

v2.8c small patch

This patch fixes a few little things that someone brought up:

  • Removed text from Ball tutorial that lied (big oops)
  • Changed an attack pattern on shmup boss (after the wall) to make completing the fight possible as Ball

If you see things that don't seem balanced or fair be sure to bring them up, I'll fix any issues as soon as I can and add any features that seem like good, viable options.

Thanks,
Ben

Holiday Patch and Sale

The holiday sale is soon so I'll be releasing a big patch alongisde it!

v2.8 will include:

  • A new boss! (Right after the wall fight)
  • A new Palette (The palette will change ever stage reset/death)
  • Increased opacity for particles (to make them less intrusive)
  • Removed turn rate for the snake (players will now turn instantly, the old versions added a layer of frustration that I didn't like)
  • Pause screen text
  • Increased minimum enemy size/projectile size (so that you don't get sniped by tiny attacks anymore)

What's next?

I still have plans to include another boss and character but I've also come up with some ideas for challenges and possibly another simple character:

I've had some complaints that the Ball character isn't very fun so I'll be testing out another Ball character that has a fixed size and hit points like the snake. It'll have the same control scheme as before but its size will be closer to the snake. Before you were required to get hit by some attacks but as this character you'll be able to dodge everything and score perfects.

I'll also be adding another control option to the snake. It'll be similar to the ball's shift feature, slowing it's movement and allowing you to manouver more tightly.

The patch after this will include revamped menus with more options such as:
Making vSync and frame cap seperate options.

I'm not sure why I kept both of those under the same "Framerate" settings object but I'll get to that as well as adding in a few more things in the next patch.

Happy Holidays,
Ben

v2.5: Level fix

Turns out there was a bug right at the start of the game that made you the incorrect level. If you'd made it past The Wall bossfight this bugged out your upgrades. Sorry if this did happen, contact me directly and I can tell you how to fix your file to make your upgrade correct if need be.

This patch fixes this bug as well as changes one or two subtle things.

v2.3: Easy Difficulty

I've added another difficulty to the game. I'd like to give everyone a way to experience the whole game so hopefully this new easy mode is what the game needs.

Added:

  • New easy difficulty

Changed:

  • Made movement speeds faster in general
  • Lowered turn rates on some snakes
  • Edited tutorial text (it wasn't quite right)

Bugfixes:

  • Fixed several achievements (some were getting achieved at wrong locations or not at all, sorry to whoever this effects)
  • Fixed a bug enabling hardcore difficulty for ball that just kills you instantly (makes the game too hard)
  • Some other subtle stuff

Feel free to inform me if you spot anything that might need changing!

Predicate is out!

Predicate is now available for purchase!

I'm very happy to present the game to the public, I've put in a lot of work making it and I want to see what the world thinks. I hope everyone enjoys the style, challenge and music that Predicate has to offer.

Predicate is the first game that I've made so I expect a few issues here and there. If you find any let me know! I'll fix it all as fast as possible.

What now:
I plan to keep working on the game for the next few months. This means fixing bugs and balancing everything. I have a worry the game may be too hard in some points and too easy in others. I intend to make sure it's a nice experience the whole way through.

I also intend to add:

  • A new character
  • Two new boss fights

One of the bosses should be done by the new year so look forward to that!

Spread the word:
I really want people to experience Predicate, I think it's worth a try. If you enjoy the game be sure to let someone know, I'd really appreciate it!

I want to give a huge thanks to Joseph Bailey for his music, it's top notch and really brings the game together. Good stuff mate.

Thanks everyone,
Boto
