[p]Kickstarter successful! All stretch goals hit! [/p][p]So we did it!! Oh well, actually YOU did it! Our very first Kickstarter campaign has come to an end crushing all of the stretch goals. 🎉🍻🍾[/p][p]From the bottom of our hearts: Thank you so so so much for making this possible. 🙏🏾🫶🏾🙌🏾[/p][p]Not only is the funding of our voice over work secured, but thanks to the success of this campaign, we didn't have to cut back on any plans we had regarding our story. This will be really awesome for the game. Especially with so much uncertainty and jeopardy regarding in the markets we really don't take your investments in our project for granted and will make sure, every second we work on PRG, that your trust in us will pay off. On that you have our word. 🫱🏿🫲🏻[/p][p]The stretch goals made possible:[/p]
[p]Our story features a few flashbacks in time. With this stretch goal we will make those flashbacks playable instead of merely having them in the game as cutscenes. [/p]
[p]We will add an extra solution pathway and storybranch to accomplish an integral part of Chapter 2 & 3 of the game. [/p]
[p]The three main characters in the game will get a sidequest each to strengthen the team and also open up additional solutions and options for the main plot, instead of just being "on top".[/p]
[p]The game will be expanded by an additional 4th ending and of course all the relevant puzzles, dialog options and story blocks to weave the pathway to that ending into the game in a natural way.[/p]
[p]If you missed out and still would like to get a physical copy of the game late pledging is still activated on the Kickstarter page.[/p][p]In the coming months we will always keep you updated on the development of our game and we will always be there to answer your questions if you have any. Feel free to reach out whenever you want to! 💻[/p][p]The two of us, coming out of nowhere and getting this project running and funded on Kickstarter, show us that you, the point and click community, are really special and this genre is more alive than it's ever been. 🥊[/p][p]So, again: thank you all so much. We will be having a toast to all of you. (One of all of you... not one each, otherwise this might as well be our last post ever) We are so happy right now. 🎊🚀🥂[/p][p]As a little treat: what you see below is always one of the coolest rewards of designing a game: The moment when you have all the assets ready to build a scene and replace the dummy art that we were looking at for months by the real deal. Here Liv stumbled right into a Brunner Youth Camp... PRESIDENT ROCKET GAME FULLY FUNDED ON KICKSTARTER!
We've completed more than 2/3 of all of our assets and animations, and are set to be asset complete roughly by October 25 if nothing dramatic happens or goes very wrong along the way. While our DIY journey has taken us quite far with this project, we do realize that we need to hire some professional voice actors for our main characters at this point. Luckily we had some friends who act come in and help us out on alot of the characters of the first chapter, and Tilly does quite alot of voices, but an eight to ten hour long game deserves characters that feel and therefore sound unique. That is why we need to secure additional funding in this kickstarter campaign.
We’re more than grateful we were able to reach our goal so fast, thanks to YOU - the amazing adventure game community.
The first stretch goal, which we also reached was for this: Our story features a few flashbacks in time as you uncover the secrets of Brunner Tech, reaching back to secret operations that happened during the "great war". With this stretch goal we will make those flashbacks playable scenes instead of merely having them in the game as short cutscenes.
Now we’re taking aim at our second stretch goal: We will add an extra solution pathway and storybranch to accomplish an integral part of Chapter 2 & 3 of the game!
Extra money means we can include additional story arcs, side quests and maybe even a 4th ending (and all relevant plot points leading up to it, of course) in the game, that we initially cut to keep it all in a realistic scale.
Feel free to take a look at the Kickstarter and the fun pledges we’ve come up with! Thank you all for your patience and support over the years! President Rocket Game will get done, and it will get done in it’s full glory!
Cheers and all the best, Tilly & Matze
March 25 Update
Hello everyone!
Today, we’d like to give you a sneak peek at some of the ways you can leave your mark on our game world when our Kickstarter campaign launches on March 26th. “26th?? Didn’t they plan to launch the Kickstarter on March 12th?” Yes we did. But unfortunately the flu really wiped out our schedule for over a week and we still need to finish our video for the campaign. But we’re back on track!
Now lets move on to the rewards… Many of these rewards aren’t just part of the different pledge tiers - they can also be added as flexible add-ons. We’re sure there’s something for everyone who wants to be part of President Rocket Game!
Let’s start with one of the most exclusive (and unique) rewards: the statue of the Naked Golfer, located in the backroom of a lively punk bar in Frankenstein. How it got there remains a mystery, but we’d be happy to customize it with your preferred plaque and description text.
A little less exclusive but just as exciting is our "Find Your Name in the Game" reward. We’ve come up with several fun ways to include your name. You might spot it in the guestbook of a luxury hotel (where the mighty Autocratic Five once stayed) or hidden in the secret customer book of Prepper Peter’s shop. And these are just a couple of examples - there’s more to come!
It’s not just your name - you can also have your (pixelated) face immortalized in Frankenstein! There are several options: You could be a VIP in the stands at the Brunner Space Center during the rocket launch or even be part of #burnthemalive - and yes, that includes being seen in action, as you can see here in the pic…
And that’s just a taste of what we have planned! One thing all these rewards have in common: They allow you to leave a personal mark on the game while helping us bring it to life in the best possible way.
The time has come – we're making it OFFICIAL! The Kickstarter campaign for President Rocket Game will go live on March 12, 2025!
The exact launch time will be announced soon. If you don’t want to miss the big moment, make sure to follow us HERE ON THE KICKSTARTER PAGE! Why is this important?
We’re kicking things off with limited Early Bird prices, which include not only a game key but also our Standard Big Game Box (with more exciting content inside). Additionally, some exclusive rewards and add-ons will be limited, so it’s definitely worth being there at launch! Rest assured we've got a rocket's payload full of creative and fun ways to immortalize yourself and your loved ones in our gameworld.
In the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing teasers about the campaign bit by bit. Got questions? Feel free to reach out!
Development wise we've almost wrapped up the artwork and animations for Ebermansheim, a fictional small town in Germany, that has been bought by our tech billionaires mega corporation. There's actually a very high chance that we'll hit all of our development goals for this year. Worst case scenario is we miss it by a week or so.
And as a little pre-Christmas present, here’s a brand-new screenshot of downtown Ebermansheim.
Hope yall make it through the holiday madness in one piece! (or as many as you please)
Cheers and all the best,
Tilly & Matze
September Update
Hello everyone!
We're back from our summer vacation as motivated as ever and are looking forward to the coming months ahead of us (apart from the weather...).
As already announced (and this time there's no turning back), we're going to launch our Kickstarter campaign. Hooray! We're already in the middle of preparing for it and will be dropping a few details about the content of the campaign from time to time over the next few weeks.
Let's start today! And of course with the most important question of all: WHAT’S THE DATE!?
Well, it's not 100% certain yet and we'll be honest: we still have to clarify a few tax issues to see if it wouldn't be smarter to postpone the start of the campaign until early 2025 as that’s the year we will be doing most of the spending. We'll know more in a couple weeks and then you'll all be informed about the final start date. Until then, we will provide you with enough information about the campaign so that you really have no choice but to support us! ;-) The two of us are working on this project close to our hearts, entirely in our spare time. We love doing it and won't stop, come what may! Nevertheless, we absolutely need your support so that we can really get the best out of the game and some awesome voice actors and actresses.
This month we’ve got a few short updates for you. The most important one is that we’re actually pretty in time this year with getting our assets ready and building the final art of the game world. We’re quite sure that some form of delay’s probably waiting just around the corner though but lets cherish the moment! We will be announcing the date for our kickstarter soonish! We’ve got all sorts of great goodies lined up and can’t wait to share them with you. Once we’ve got everything ready we will FINALLY be able to greenlight that. We know some people have really been itching for those rewards, which makes us reeeeally really grateful! Just a wee more time.
As we’ve been warning everyone: Our long demo is now offline and we’ve exchanged it for a short one. You have about 30 minutes of gameplay to get a feel for everything, but as the first few versions of the demo featured the full first chapter too much of it has been reworked for the final version of the game to be a true representation of it. It was important for us to have that big chunk out there for free, to learn and get to know our potential supporters. Thanks to everyone who played it and provided valuable feedback!
We’re exhibiting our game at the adventure game hotspot fanfare this weekend. If you’re in or near Tacoma we encourage you to drop by and say hello!
That just about wraps it up this month. Gotta swing over to the convention center..
Take care!! Tilly & Matze
June Update
June 24 Clickin’ and pointin’ friends! It's time to give you a new update and how things are going on the development side!
First of all: Our demo is going to be taken offline very soon. We’ve reworked quite a bit of that part of the game and added some quality of life improvements which we will showcase in a brand new demo later this year.
Two things you, the players, asked for were the possibility to continue to search for hotspots while in dialogs and to let the game tell you which option n continues the storyline and which options are just there for fluff. We want to get that into the next demo, too.
Our world map is also working and now connects all of the different locations in the game and we also have finalized the standard animations of our second playable character, which is awesome to see! Since the last update we’ve added quite some finalized art to the world, but there’s still quite a long way to go. We want to have a nice variety of locations for you to explore. Outdoor locations, german smalltown flair, secret bases and much more!
And last but not least: We are now a team of 3! That will definitely speed things up..
Cheers and all the best,
Tilly, Matze and Mario
April Update
Point and clickers! It's time for another dev update.
We've almost finished all of the standard animations for our second playable character. We also decided to give her a complete design overhaul compared to the version you still see in the demo. Our skillset has simply evolved since we started working on PRG and we wanted to make sure everything you see meets the same standards.
The locations of the remaining chapters are in the process of being connected to each other. There is still quite a lot of artwork to be done, so a lot of them are still placeholder graphics. But it feels great that everything slowly starts to feel like “a complete game”!
We also couldn’t resist adding another set of locations - I mean, who wouldn’t love to discover a secret underwater base, right? Wait. Did we just tell you about the secret underwater base? The journey through the Brunner tech property will lead you to an old abandoned rocket base, a small cliche german town, mountain and forest locations, the Brunner tech space launch complex and many more! Even though humor plays a big part in our game, we’ve put a lot of effort into our world and story. There’s multiple solutions, twists, surprises and outcomes to this adventure.
The two playable characters have slightly different playstyles. Don’t worry though: It’s all classic and intuitive point and click gameplay with a few extras. Lloyd will directly address you (House of Cards style) from time to time and the way you treat and talk to him will have consequences on his behavior and possibilities throughout the game. Liv on the other hand has a little cyborg squirrel that you can control! Wait a second… Doesn’t that actually make three playable characters? Hm. Never seen it this way…
There’s also some great news on the horizon regarding our team. We might be adding a third member to this project! But more on that when it’s official!
Cheers! Can’t wait to show you more!
Tilly & Matze
March Update
Dear Community!
We're thrilled to share an update regarding the development of our upcoming video game. After an exhilarating experience at our first convention at GG Bavaria, we returned with so much optimism and determination. The response from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, and it affirmed our belief that we're definitely on the right track with President Rocket Game! We really never expected that much interest in a point and click adventure game standing next to games that have millions of budget.
In light of this, we've made the decision to postpone our Kickstarter campaign until later this year. Why, you might ask? Well, we're fully committed to ensuring that when we launch our campaign, we do so with the most compelling and comprehensive presentation possible. Having additional gameplay footage from our second playable character and features from the “open world” part of our game to showcase will significantly enhance our campaign's effectiveness. We're almost finished with animating Liv, the second character and have been working on the other locations for quite some time now, so we're really close to being able to present some footage!
Rest assured, this decision is driven by our unwavering commitment to delivering the best possible game and ensuring a successful crowdfunding campaign. We're incredibly grateful for your patience, understanding, and continued support as we embark on this journey together.
You can sign up for our kickstarter newsletter here or follow the kickstarter page already to be first in line when we announce it!
Development is progressing remarkably well overall. We’re firing on all cylinders, and hitting milestones faster than ever before, as our noobish trial and error approach from the beginning has developed into a nice and steady workflow.
Thank you for being a part of our community, and we can't wait to share more exciting updates with you in the near future.
Tilly and Matze
Demo Version 2.0 release!
Howdy point and clickers!
Hope you had a smooth cruise into the new year. Wow, what a turbulent three months it's been! But we're finally here with our new demo of President Rocket Game!
Before you start playing: WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU START A NEW GAME! You WILL run into some issues of you don't.
It features a brand new UI with context sensitive hotspots as well as some improvements in the overall pacing. Seeing this first demo was our first release ever, it was also the first opportunity ever to learn and evolve as game developers and we wanted to make as much of that chance as possible.
Context sensitive hotspots suit our gameplay way more than the verb system did and hopefully you'll see for yourself it's simply more intuitive while still being challenging. We just wanted to make sure every click counts. :)
You may also be wondering “hm, didn't these guys want to switch to Godot engine?”. Yes we did! We tested it, loved it and definitely want to use it on future projects. We did run into some minor issues with it though, so seeing we have a great workflow with unity and adventure creator right now: we're sticking with it.
Have fun with the new demo! It's still the whole first chapter like in the last one. We might be shortening it sometime later this year. But for now we value the feedback we get from the longer version.
