Update 0.96 - "BURNING HAMMER"

Another monster update - it's taken us a while to bug test this one, but we hope it will be well worth the effort. Without further ado, here's the rundown:

<*>Better memory management - This one took a bit, but we *think* we've improved the memory usage. For those of you on 32-bit machines, even if you have 4GB of RAM or more, the operating system won't recognize anything beyond 2GB. The previous build was peaking around 2.2GB of memory used, hence Crash City.

The new build has gone through a round of optimization: things should load faster and overall RAM usage has dropped to 1.4GB. We're updating our system recommendations to 4GB of RAM anyway, just so Windows has enough to run. But it should be a lot better. Tip o' the cap to Robert for his hard work on this one.

<*>A bunch of new moves: a cutter, powerbomb, MMA tackle, pulling piledriver, double underhook backbreaker and a few others I can't remember. But there's one I can't possibly forget...

<*>BURNING HAMMER!! It's our very first Special move - just hit grapple (weak or strong) ==> A+B when you've got the Special flashing. It's siiiiiiick.

<*>Added the ability to turn off Interference. TAKE THAT, STUPID RUN-INS!

<*>In triple threat and 4-way matches, use the Right Trigger to target specific opponents.

<*>Good news, button mashers: hammer A while laying down or dazed, and you'll recover faster.

<*>New character select menu. Far from final, but we were kicking the tires on an old design mockup.

<*>Added a bunch of new default jobbersCOUGH I MEAN SUPERSTARS as playable characters.

<*>Improved the CAW system a bit - you'll zoom to the specific body part you're working on, and we've added a bunch of new CAW parts. You can now make EVEN UGLIER wrestlers!

<*>Not only can you make even uglier wrestlers, you can make more of them! CAW slots have expanded to nine.

<*>Added some text to the load screen to distract you from how long it takes for the game to boot. I'M KIDDING, the initial load times have been significantly improved. No more white screen of death either.

<*>Fixed a bug with pinning where a moonsault interrupts the count even after the count has hit 3.

<*>Disabled T key from performing move. This was a test key for animations, but Robert forgot to turn it off in the last build.

<*>Fixed sliding opponents while in submission.

<*>Fixed corner grapple bug when both opponents execute the snake eyes animation on the same opponent.

<*>Fixed a bug where you can't climb the turnbuckle. Thank you Robert, I can win a match now!

    Update 0.94 - HYUUUUGE UPDATE

The largest update in Pro Wrestling X history adds a TON of new gameplay options and features. But before I list the full rundown, here's a couple of notices:

    -----

PLEASE TRY TO BREAK THIS BUILD! Build 0.94 introduces a massively upgraded Create-a-Wrestler system that loads character models and textures in an entirely new way. We also give you the freedom to have up to four wrestlers in and out of the ring. That's the good news.

The bad news: all the new stuff increases the potential for bugs and glitches. Some of you may even experience the infamous No Mercy slowdown with four wrestlers on screen with slower PCs (It's not a bug, it's a feature!).

We are aware of why this is happening, and we are working on a performance optimization for a future update. Pretty please, we really do want to know if you manage to break the game and cause any glitches or performance issues. We did experience some floating and teleporting of wrestlers especially when entering/exiting the ring, but we believe to have fixed this in this update.

Are we wrong? Please let us know! THANK YOU for communicating with us and participating with the rest of the Pro Wrestling X family to make this game bigger and better with each update!

    -----

LOAD TIMES: The added power and possibilities in the updated Create-a-Wrestler - especially adding the art assets to the "Streaming Assets" folder for mods to access - comes at the cost of longer load times. Some may even experience a few seconds of "Pro Wrestling X is Not Responding" before the game resumes as normal. KEEP CALM AND HANG TIGHT. We are working to better optimize this.

    -----

With that out of the way, here's the full list of new content :

    • New depth of field feature added to the Screenshot mode. To active it, press the Back button on 360 controller while in Screenshot mode (it's the small button opposite the Start button - took me forever to find it). Click down the right analog stick to increase the depth, or click down the left analog to decrease the depth of field. Prepare to waste LOTS of time playing with this :-)

    • A corner idle animation from irish whip and corner grapple mode has been added.

    • Added "Snake Eyes" corner grapple move.

    • Hop up on the top rope and change your mind. Now you can get down without launching the move. R1 button to dismount from the corner.

    • You can now get in and out of the ring. Approach the desired rope and press or hold RB button to exit the the ring. The first tap with get you from the ring to the apron; the second will get you down to the ramp or floor.

    • Added new apron idle mode.

    • While outside of ring, you can irish whip your opponent to either guardrail, apron, ramp or scaffold.

    • You can now climb from the floor to the ramp. While near the ramp on either side, simply press the RB button to get up on the ramp. You can walk, run or grapple on the ramp now too!

    • New match modes - Triple threat (three opponents battle it out) and PWX 4 way (four opponents at a time). First pinfall wins the match.

    • Run-In/Interference mode. This will scare the hell out of you if you're not expecting it. You'll be in dire straits for a few minutes, then the offending wrestler will leave. It's not currently possible to disable this, but we are absolutely working on it. (This admittedly gets old fast).

    • Grimhold is now in the game! You've watched him being build by our ninja Kola over the past few months, and now he's in. No custom animations for him just yet, but they are coming!

    • New main menu layout.

    We've completely rebuilt CAW system:

    • Character info involves the wrestler name, skin type and body size.

    • Body size adjuster/slider. Not tons of variety between the two extremes just yet, but it's not bad.

    • Lots of new attire. We separated certain wrestling gear with a new layered script. Plenty of new "PROGRAMMER ART" to spice and beef up the mode with more options to choose from. Facial hair, face paint, tights, wrist tape, and - best of all - new logos to assign to the attire.

    • RGB Slider/ color mode to CAW for some items, with alpha blend to adjust layer transparency.

    • CAW textures are now in PNG format to allow transparency support.

    • CAW assets added to “Streaming Assets” folder for modders to play with. These new assets increase the initial load times at the moment, but we're working on that.

    HAVE FUN!!

    Update 0.83 - "Lionsaults!"

Some fun new offensive attacks. Getting closer to that 1.0 milestone! Here's all the new goods:

    • Added the Irish whip - Grapple your opponent, then hit the Y button + the direction you'd like to throw him. This includes corners – the opponent will stay in the corner for an amount of time (based on how much damage he's sustained).

    • Added a corner attack - While your opponent is stuck in the corner, you can perform weak and strong strikes on him. No corner grapples just yet, but we're working on it :-)

    • Improved targeting for the top rope moonsault, you're less prone to overshooting now.

    • LIONSAULTS! Very fun offensive attack. Run into the ropes by hitting Y, and hold down the A button. When you hit the ropes, you'll jump and perform a Lionsault. Just like the top rope moonsault, you can perform this on a downed opponent or one standing up. Pretty fun to try to get the timing perfect, just ask anyone who's watched our recent Twitch broadcasts!

    • New default stage - Robert the Man build us a basic Nitro-esque stage and ramp. The game angle has been tweaked a bit to get the perfect angle of everything.

    • You've got the ability to swap out the stage curtain texture. Textures are located in the StreamingAssets Folder in the Stage Folder. There's a default one in there too if you'd like to do a little modding.

    • There's a new addition to Screen Shot mode, Field of View. Should make it a lot easier to grab some awesome screenshots - just use the trigger keys (LT and RT) to increase and decrease the field of view. (Wait 'til you get a load of the next feature we have here!)

    • Various bug fixes and performance tweaks.

Update 0.797 - "Time to Fly"

Lots of new goods as we round things out:

    • Added Turnbuckle Climb Animation. Simply use the Run button when near any turnbuckle to climb the top rope.

    • Added Top Rope Attack Moonsault. While crouched and positioned on top of the turnbuckle, press the attack button to hit a moonsault to a standing or lying opponent. The opponent has to be positioned properly to execute the attack correctly, within reason. If h'se is not, the attacker will simply overshoot his target and miss him entirely. This is a work in progress - we know there's tweaking to do - let us know what you think!

    • If you take longer than 30 seconds to execute the top rope attack, the wrestler will go for the attack anyway. (We're still working on the ability to climb down, heh).

    • Added new Apron to the ring, big thanks to Mr. Wrestling 5 for providing the new apron model and textures. Apron texture is now fully customizable, with correct positions and rotations.

    • Fixed saving screenshots in screenshotmode blackscreen error, and fixed StreamingAssets.

    • Fixed a bug when taunting and holding down or spamming the block button, causing the player to teleport. Some might have called this a feature :-)

    • Fixed back and front grapple auto move when holding down the grapple button while attempting a grapple.

Update 0.794 Released - "Modding Begins!"

With this latest update the gameplay gets deeper and the game itself begins to open itself up to the modding community with the beginning of open texture access in addition to a nice list of general improvements and fixes. The update itself went live about a week ago. Please forgive the lateness of these accompanying release notes and thank you for your support!

Here is a list of improvements for this build:

    - improved rotation speed of wrestling ring in ring edit mode

-added ability to switch from front to back grapple position

-added release dragon suplex as strong back grapple

-fixed grapple loop glitch found in twitch stream

-added Ring Textures to StreamingAssests Folder for modding and editing

-added crowd sfx on/off switch to pause menu

-improved on-mat time when health is above 75%

    -improved blocking animation blending speed

-improved blending speed from crouch to idle stance

-opponent cannot be attacked while getting up from the mat or while in crouching stance

-crouch attack and grapple recovery can now only be used when you or the opponent are recovering from a deffensive attack

-crowd members, crowd signs, and most other game textures are all now available for editing and modding in the StreamingAssets folder

As always, feel free to leave bug reports and feedback here in our Steam forums. In the meantime, we're working hard deepening the game mechanics again for our next update in which we hope to add top rope flying moves. Thanks again for your kind support!

Update 0.785 Released - "The Bloodening"

Yet another monster update - I never get tired of writing that - with TONS of new features. This one really takes us to a new level, and we can't wait to see what you all do with it. Here's the details:

<*>The long-awaited Dragon Sleeper is in the game! When your downed opponent is lying face up, move to his head and tap A. You're gonna have to wear him down a bit first!

<*>Ring editor - This works a lot like our character edit. We've got 8 open slots for custom ring designs. From the main menu, go to Edit Mode > Edit Ring, and go crazy. Choose from different canvases, ring ropes, turnbuckles, aprons, floor mats, etc. Keep in mind we've only got placeholder art in place, so some rings might be mighty fugly... but it works!

<*>You can then select one of your custom rings when setting up the match.

<*>BLOOD - One of our biggest questions has just been answered. Yep, we've got blood. Keep hitting the head, and it will totally happen, complete with cutscene (assuming you have them turned on).

<*>Screen Shot Mode - Be forewarned - you're gonna lose lots of hours to this feature. When you're in the middle of match and want to cap a screen, hit Pause (Start button or Escape), and select Screen Shot Mode. You'll see lots of instructions on the screen, but in a nutshell, it's simple: zoom around with the two analog sticks, use the shoulder buttons to increase or decrease the animation speed, and hit A to take the screen shot.

<*>Where do the screens get saved? It's a pain but you can find them in Program Files > Steam > SteamApps > common > ProWrestlingX > PWX_Data > Streaming Assets > Screenshots. Yes, that's a mouthful, and hopefully we'll fix that so you can point to any directory.

<*>Post your screenshots on Steam and on the interwebs, and tag @ProWrestlingX so we see them!

<*>AT LONG LAST, the nutshot (DING!) has made its way into Pro Wrestling X. It's just like No Mercy - when you've been knocked down, hold the right shoulder button to reamin crouched, then hit A. This is GLORIOUS!

<*>Improved the Basic AI a bit, he's a bit tougher about blocking strikes.

<*>Controls diagram - This screen needs work, but if you go to Main Menu > Options > In-Game Controls, you can see what buttons do what - if you squint. That's on me - Robert was doing the best he could with what he was given. I will get that screen cleaned up so it's a bit more readable.

      <*>Fixed a pinning bug.

      <*>Fixed a victory cam glitch.

      <*>Fixed a texture bug in Tirador's boots.

      HAVE FUN!!

Update 0.778 Released - "World Tour Edition"

BIG update with lots of new features and improvements. If you saw one of latest Twitch broadcasts from the last couple of weeks, you can get your hands on what we were playing. Here's the rundown:

<*>New menu splash screen. It's still a work in progress, but we've at least got animation now! Don't stare directly into the ring or you'll get dizzy...

<*>New wrestler selection screen - Now you can play as Grasshopper! Or if you're feeling so inclined....

<*>Basic Create-a-Wrestler - You can now create a custom character. This whole thing is still a work in progress (especially since we don't have tons of CAW pieces and parts yet), but it's a start down an awesome path!

<*>A rudimentary match intro, with a hat tip to WCW/nWo World Tour (button press skips it if you want).

        <*>Adjusted pinfall count volume.

<*>Basic rope physics/animation - Ropes bounce on high-impact moves and when running the ropes. Not perfect yet, but we're getting there.

<*>Assorted bug squashes and animation improvements.

<*>You now have the ability to save and load your game settings. Not anything huge right now, but might come in handy down the road when we have a lot more options.

        <*>New credits screen.

Things are really starting to tighten up. Next update will have the Dragon Sleeper!

        Update 0.752 Released

        Even MOAR miscellaneous bug fixes:

        • Improved AI logic and reaction time when opponent is on mat for both Basic and Aggressive modes. AI's a work in progress, that "I" is gonna be tough one to nail down.

        • All settings set by user remain constant throughout the entire game, including restarting the match.

        • Fixed the taunting while pinning glitch.

        • Fixed a bug that allowed the opponent to become immune to strikes by simply walking. There's probably a John Cena joke in there somewhere...

        • Still tightening up running, improved the controls a bit.

        Update 0.751 Released

        Miscellaneous bug fixes:

        • Disabled slomo effect for submission tap out animation- the full effect is in normal speed.

        • Improved running transitions, also added the ability to stop running by pressing the left analog stick in any direction.

        • Holding RB while getting up will now go into crouch mode once again. Blocking only occurs when in standing mode only. Eric says "THANK YOU!"

        • "Mudhole stomping" is back in the game, but it has improved greatly because of the "three strike rule".

        Update 0.75 Released

Back in business after our dev's computer took a bath, literally. Here's the next wave of refinements:

<*>Updated run animation cycle with the newest animation improvements.

<*>Improved the parry selling animation root position when executed; it's a small change, but looks a lot better.

<*>While running, added the ability to stop after pressing the run button.

<*>Added the ability for player to hold block button for strikes. This *may* have broken the block when getting up function, still testing.

<*>Improved AI Logic - Choose from Inactive, Basic, Aggressive.

          - Basic = AI barely grapples, barely strikes and only block grapples when spirit meter is higher than 70.
          - Aggressive = More aggressive AI, strikes more, blocks more, counter and react time a lot faster than basic.
          - Inactive = Basically makes the AI a punching bag (Eric says "THANK YOU!")

<*>Added Ground Submission Sharpshooter to the game, apply the submission with the B button. Gotta weaken the opponent pretty good to pull it off.

<*>Also added a camera that orbits around the player while the ground grapple is executed. You can turn the camera off by disabling the camera cuts in the pause menu.

<*>X button is now used for pins when near opponent.

<*>Clicking the right analog stick now controls the Taunt.

<*>Fixed ground attack spamming - now we have the three strike rule, opponent will auto-recover after three kicks.

          <*>Assorted bug fixes.

          <*>#RIPHotRod :-(
