Hi everybody, we have some quite exciting news: after a bit of testing we're pleasantly surprised by how well Project Hospital works on the Steam Deck! As you may know, we never planned a console version because of both controls and performance, but the touchpad on the Deck really makes this possible.
We're finishing a version with controls mapped to the Deck's input, properly using the virtual keyboard and including some small tweaks, we plan to make it available for you with the next patch later this week and hopefully we'll get the game verified by Valve soon.
In the meantime we'd love to hear your opinions: Do any of you plan to get the Steam Deck or have already preordered it? What are your experiences playing games with a controller using a virtual cursor?
Happy Holidays from the Oxymoron Games team!
Hi everybody,
Once again, the holidays are approaching and we're finding ourselves looking back at the months that have just flown by. 2021 has been another challenging year for everybody, including us at Oxymoron Games, but at the same time a great year for Project Hospital, with so many players joining the community, while the game received a few more patches and more content arrived to the Steam Workshop.
The team will now be taking a couple of weeks off, trying to find a bit of peace and quiet and spending time with our loved ones, so if you reach out on the different channels, we'll be mostly able to get back to you on January 3rd.
And as usually this time of the year, when this message goes live, the Winter Sale should be on the way and Project Hospital will be joining with a 50% discount.
So, everybody who is reading this, have a great holiday and a safe and successful start to the New Year 2022! We're looking forward to seeing you on the forums and hopefully some time next year we'll be able to start sharing more about what's next to come from Oxymoron Games!
Cheers, The Oxymoron Games team
Project Hospital 1.2.22517 - Patch 38
Hi everybody, we're happy to make this little announcement before the Holidays: the next patch for Project Hospital is now live!
Thanks to everybody who tried it on the beta branch early, we're glad we managed to fix “that one little hiccup” before releasing the update officially!
We've also updated the Thai build (on thai-language-support branch) to patch 38 and added a Mac OSX version as requested!
We hope you'll enjoy the little improvements, fixes and the new mix of the main music theme!
Changes
- ♫ Switched main menu music to a recently remastered version ♫ - Implemented automatic switching from bold to normal texts if running on a Mac to work around issues with fonts present since Catalina - Allowed janitors to come to work to clean very dirty tiles outside of departments even if their department is spotless - Set cash value texts on main panel and in budget panel to use thousand separators ($1 000 instead of $1000), enabled automatic text scale for balance text on main panel - Allowed decals to be placed on outdoor walls on above-the-ground-floors - Added a tweakable that can be used to override the default strict save file name checks (TWEAKABLE_SKIP_STRICT_FILENAME_CHECK in TweakablesPatch38.xml) - Added a button for cancelling level and event scripts to debug tools, this allows to for example continue playing a campaign level after finishing it
Fixes
- Fixed examinations that require patient to talk to be sometimes incorrectly planned after selecting a diagnosis - Fixed broken attachments unnecessarily preventing composite objects from being deleted - Fixed patients stuck at the reception if all receptionists have been sent to training - Fixed 'check save' mechanism for modded games only working in main menu, not when loading from the pause menu - Fixed ambulance ignoring its own stretchers if the area underneath is marked staff only - Fixed patients stuck as bookmarked when released from autopsy table - Fixed wall mounted lamp blocking access to objects on the tile opposite to the wall where it's mounted - Fixed shortest path distance (instead of shortest geometric distance) not used in object queries used for employees needs so they wouldn't always use objects in their own room - Fixed outdated screenshot in loading tip showing how to access staff and patient tables - Hotfixed janitors at home sometimes still reserving operating rooms - Hotfixed second running lab procedure causing controlled patients getting stuck at the doctor's, now it gets automatically completed one hour after the test itself finished - Hotfixed an error in X-Ray script caused by a missing X-Ray machine in procedure scene - Improved a few English texts - [TRAUMATOLOGY DLC] Fixed a rare progression blocker in tutorial 3 triggered by sending the patient to CT and selecting a diagnosis while the patient was out of the Trauma Center
Would you like to help us test patch 38?
We are mostly done with testing the next patch for Project Hospital, so we're on a good track to release it before the holidays. Just like with the last patch, we've put it on a beta branch for those of you who would like to try it out early and help us catch any possible rare issues or problems with mod compatibility.
The release notes are included below, as you'd expect at this later development stage, it's mostly smaller or very specific bug fixes, improvements and tools.
Here's the beta branch that you can switch to in properties on Steam:

Thai community translation is now available on Steam!
Hi everybody, we're happy to announce another addition to the list of community translations: Thai language is now available in Project Hospital!
We're very happy to see all the Thai players that joined the community recently and while it wasn't straightforward to get the translation working in game as the systems weren't built in a way that supports switching fonts, we now have a special Windows version of the game available for you to try. To switch to it:
If you go to Properties -> BETAS, select "thai-laguage-support". The Thai language should then be available in options in game.
Once again big thanks to the translators for their effort and especially for figuring out a way to get the fonts working.
Project Hospital 1.2.22360 - Patch 37
Hi everybody, the next patch for Project Hospital is now officially live! We hope you'll enjoy the quality of life improvements, bugfixes and a couple of improved translations from wonderful community members. :)
Thanks to everybody who tried the new version on a beta branch, we're glad no issues popped up there!
There's also one more fix that's worth mentioning but isn't part of the patch itself: an issue with cloud saves not updating correctly on certain machines should be now resolved. It turns out the problem wasn't in game code but in our configuration of cloud saves on Steam side.
Changes
- Optimized texture usage of system RAM, this should help improve performance on machines with minimum specs - Added missing localized texts for the 'no assistant surgeon' notification - Improved a couple of texts in tutorials or tooltips - Updated Italian community translations with a new version by neoxes - Updated Traditional Chinese translations with a new version by Alex Chen - Set input text of save game name in the save dialog to be active when the dialog opens - Added more info to log about the steam integration startup (to help troubleshoot issues with cloud saves) - Updated UI scale sliders in options to show default scale value when automatic UI scale is enabled
Fixes
- Hotfixed broken room data blocking the save process, this could eliminate a rare error where half of a save file would be missing - Fixed corrupted save zip files (especially if it was the latest save) causing missing files in the load dialog - Fixed insurance condition 'finish events of type' resetting counters for all types when there are multiple conditions checking multiple events active - Fixed 'black floor' set up with same pathfinding cost as road so people were avoiding it and taking longer paths - Fixed bacteremia (a symptom that requires hospitalization) present in campylobacteriosis which is marked for clinic - Fixed double fever in hemolytic uremic syndrome - Fixed Bartonella Henselae showing wrong description in its tooltip - Fixed player-assigned doctors reset when the player changes a patient's doctor while the patient is already walking to a doctor's office and then returns to a waiting room - Fixed diagnosis tooltip showing wrong insurance payment value without prestige and world event modifiers counted in - Fixed patients allowed to use outdoors/planned only waiting rooms - Fixed a rare case of employees with invalid room at their workspace stuck at home - Fixed broken ambulance parking in one of the campaign levels - Fixed a hotfix detecting abandoned stretchers causing also stretchers waiting with a patient next to an ambulance to disappear after load - Fixed patients waiting for ambulance for a very long time popping up the 'clinic patient is about to leave' message - Fixed one specific case of a paramedic stuck next to their ambulance because of a deleted stretcher - Fixed queue machines reporting 0 patients in management mode for waiting rooms at radiology - Fixed a white line sometimes blinking around the bottom side of popup panel in low resolutions
Would you like to help us test patch 37?
Hi everybody,
The next major patch with the usual round of fixes and improvements is now ready and while we're doing an extra round of testing, we thought why not make it available to those of you that would like to try it straight away. After the issues we encountered with the last patch launch we're trying to be extra careful so any help with testing would be welcome, especially from members of the modding community so we catch any possible compatibility issues (although we're not expecting any problems with mods).
Here's the beta branch that you can switch to in properties on Steam:
Thanks in advance and have fun! :)

Project Hospital history
Hi guys, today we would like to share something a bit different - a video mapping the whole development process of Project Hospital! Jan (one of the two team members who started developing Project Hospital in 2016) has been working on this for quite a while and it's finally ready. Let's have a look at the four-years-long journey from a humble concept to a finished game with 4 DLCs and a worldwide player community, all packed in five minutes on screen. It has been quite a ride and we are most grateful you rode with us!
Hi, you've probably noticed that we rolled the game back to the previous version soon after the release patch 36. After quite a busy week of investigating the issues and extra testing after fixing the root cause, our fingers are crossed for today's re-release. We'd also like to thank everybody who sent us their saves, it really helped us figure out what exactly went wrong and verify that everything works reliably in a much wider selection of hospitals than our usual test levels. We hope you'll enjoy the improvements that come in this version!
