Policy Changes For Free Games

Greetings from PsychoFlux Entertainment!

We're going to talk about the change of our pricing policy, for most of the free games we're servicing.

We have been servicing a lot of free games by offering main game for free, with an $1 empty DLC for donations; so the users who are satisfied by the game are able to support us and the developers by purchasing the DLC, which also makes the game stay in your Steam library.

However, some of the players told us that the game won't stay in their library even after purchasing the DLC, so they had to visit the store page to install it again. Thus we're going to make some changes to solve this problem and give some advantages to the purchasers.

Steam Edition

Free games will be switched to Steam Edition, which will cost about $1. If you already purchased the Donationware DLC, you will automatically receive the Steam Edition of the game.

Also, games that support a leaderboard will also start to support Steam Leaderboard, so you can upload your score at both of them. Steam Cloud and Steam Achievements will be the same as before. We're planning to update the games that are not supporting these features, so please allow us some time.

And maybe we might add Steam Trading Cards, too!

New Free Version

An alternative free version will be added on Steam to compensate former version. Download button will be displayed on the store page, along with the purchase button for the Steam Edition. This new free version won't support any Steamworks features such as Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud and Steam Leaderboard, etc.

Achievements that you already unlocked won't go away, but you won't be able to unlock new ones. Your score will only be uploaded on the default leaderboard.

Donationware DLC

These DLCs will be gone from the store. As we mentioned, holder of these DLCs will automatically receive the Steam Edition game.

These changes will be applied within a day or two, to the games listed below. Please leave your comments if you have any questions!

Steam Achievements & Store Page Update (July 11, 2018)

Steam Achievements

To test the Steam Achievements feature, we've added some of them to the game. The added achievements are:
  • Easy 60"
Score the record of 60 sec. on Easy difficulty

  • Normal 60"
Score the record of 60 sec. on Normal difficulty

  • Hard 60"
Score the record of 60 sec. on Hard difficulty

  • Expert 60"
Score the record of 60 sec. on Expert difficulty

After we've confirmed that these are working properly, we're going to add some more. Something like, "Score the record of 120 sec. on ~~ difficulty", or "Fail for X times". If you have any idea, please let us know in the Steam Community.

Steam Store page

To make the game title more recognizable in the Steam Store, the logo images were modified slightly.

Update Dec. 15th, 2017

System

    <*>Progress saves
We changed the method saving the game progress. Now your progress data will be stored in *.sav files instead of old *.dat files. If you launch the game after the update, the game will automatically read the data from the old files and create a new ones.

However, the data will be reset on devices where the "line 41" error has already occurred. Therefore, please make sure you start the game on a device where the game is yet playable. Once the data conversion is complete, the "line 41" error on the other device will also be resolved.

    Update Dec. 13th, 2017

Before we start; we found that the recent "line 41" error was caused by the corruption of the file which contains your configuration data. From now on, please make sure you don't turn off the Steam client before the cloud synchronization is over.

    ▲ Synchronization ongoing

    ▲ Synchronization done

    System

      <*>Data Initialization
If an error is found in the saved data, the game will automatically reset it rather than crashing.

      <*>Window resizing
Now you can resize the game screen while it's in windowed mode.

      Update Dec. 11th, 2017

      Steamworks

      • Steam Cloud Saves
Now Project Rhombus supports Steam Cloud Saves. Your progress will be stored to the Steam server from now on.

IMPORTANT: Please make sure that you've enabled Steam Cloud synchronization on your Steam client settings!

      Steam Store

      • Description
There were a lot of controversy about the genre of this game, so we've modified the description to avoid further misunderstanding.

        • Before: Project Rhombus is a rhythm game that (...)
        • After: Project Rhombus is a rhythm-based casual action game that (...)

      In-game

      • Notes ("Arrows")
We've loosen the timing a bit, and it'll allow you a few tenths of a second before the arrow makes contact on you. So you won't fail if you press the buttons quickly enough. But still, it won't be enough for pressing the buttons along the beat.
(We're sorry, but this is uncompromisable. We do not want to change it like other common rhythm games.)

      • Sync
Adjusted the sync of the music on the hidden stage.

      System

      • Configuration
As your wish! We've added a new 'page' in the game where you could turn things on and off. The options contains the following items:

        • Display mode toggle
You can change between Windowed and Fullscreen mode.

        • Music volume indicator
You can modulate the Music volume.

        • SFX volume indicator
You can modulate the SFX(Sound Effects) volume.

        • Solid background toggle
Eyes too hurt? Now you can turn on or off that blinky background.
(This abandons the key feature of the game, but we decided to add this option for those who actually suffer from photosensitive epilepsy. Thank you to all who pointed this out.)

        • Restart music from the beginning (or not)
Are you confused because of the music starting at the random point? Turn this on, then it'll always start from the beginning.
(We recommend you to turn this off when you're tired of starting over. We believe that little randomness will help you enjoy this game with a light heart.)

And that's all for now! The developers are keep working on this title, and we hope to be able to deliver another news to you ASAP.

      Until then, take care!

Progress lost? Here's why and how to restore.

Hi there, we've received a several reports from the players that they've lost the progress after the update.

Actually, an unannounced software update for Project Rhombus was held in 7th December. We didn't post an announcement because the changes were too small, but the problem is that the new version has a different save directory than before.

Changing directory was intentional, but ignoring past records wasn't. We're sorry for that. We're not gonna change the save directory again and Steam Cloud Save feature is coming, so you don't have to worry about the progress lost in the future.

To restore the lost progress, please follow the descriptions below.

PRECAUTION: This will overwrite your current progress. If you already scored better results, don't follow the procedure below.
      • 1. Navigate to "C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local". (Or simply type "%LocalAppData%" on your File Explorer window.)
      • 2. Find folder "_2017_10_19" and open it.
      • 3. Copy the file "save.dat".
      • 4. Go back, and find "Project_Rhombus" this time. Open it.
      • 5. Paste the file "save.dat". (If the system warns you for the file replacement, just press Replace.)
      • 6. That's it! Your progress are back now.

P.S. Next update is coming in several hours, so please stay tuned! Don't worry; it'll never screw up your scores again.

Did you liked the music? Look up for Hinkik's works!

Hello there! Hope you're enjoying Project Rhombus.

If you liked the music in the game, we believe you would love Hinkik's other works, too! Hinkik is an EDM producer in Sweden, and his music's just rad!

It's our honor to feature his amazing works in Project Rhombus. We highly recommend you to visit his SoundCloud or YouTube; we're pretty sure you'll like it!

We'll come back if there's an update for the game.

      Until then!
