Perks & Stats-creation

Hey Warlocks!

It’s time for a content update!

We’ve heard your feedback regarding character progression, and ways to customize your playthroughs. We’re introducing 2 new ways to do so, by adding Perk and Stats Systems.

Those features should spice up your playthroughs and make them more interesting. It should also give you an incentive to try out all of the combinations! And if you really like something you see, make sure to capture the moment with brand new Photo Mode!

Keep in mind, that there is no save wipe, but for best experience with the new patch we recommend to start a New Game!

We've also prepared an updated Roadmap. We've managed to put a check mark on all of the sticky notes planned for Chapter 1 and the work on the Chapter 2 is in full swing. We're also looking at reworked Roadmap for 2023, so keep you eyes peeled!

Check out full patch notes:

Dambuster Perks

  • Added Perk Shop. It is similar to Weapon upgrade shop as it can be found throughout the levels.
  • Added collectible Perk Points. They can be found throughout the levels and are used to buy Perks.
  • Added 10 new perks

    • Cold as Stone (1991) - Each cooldown token grants twice the cooldown value.
    • Fatal Affection (1987) - Attracts items from a small distance to the player.
    • Twin Hit (1991) - Increases ammo capacity by 1.5x
    • Phantom (1980) - Allows to move through enemies
    • Destruction Guy (1993) - Doubles the base combo time
    • Sharpshooter (1993) - Doubles the headshot damage
    • The Fast and the Late (1987) - Shortens weapon switch time

    • Mountaineer (1986) - Increases claymore swing speed and reduces stamina usage.

Stat Shop

Player stats are a new type of upgrade within the game. By collecting stat points, players can spend them in a stat station on increasing different damage efficiency types.

Those include:

  • Melee damage efficiency
  • Firearm damage efficiency
  • Frost damage efficiency
  • Fire damage efficiency
  • Explosive damage efficiency

Photo Mode

Photo Mode is a new addition which allows the player to pause the game and take photos in real time while playing at any time. The time is stopped, and players can take pictures of the chaos at the moment of taking the picture.

There are multiple options:

  • Mouse Mode and Camera Mode

    • Mouse Mode enables Cursor and allows to change filters
    • Camera Mode disables Cursor and allows the camera to move freely.

  • Game Logo Overlay (4 corners to pick from)
  • Camera FOV
  • Pixel Shader Filters
  • CRT Filters
  • Color Filters
  • Color Correction

That would be it for today. We hope you enjoy new features, and make sure to let us know how your playthroughs are going with the new systems!

New year, new difficulty levels!

Welcome to the first update of 2023!

In this Difficulty Levels Patch (game version 0.2.7.74) we’ve added 2 brand new difficulty levels to Project Warlock II. Namely: Come Get Some and Ready to Die. We want to deliver a much more challenging gameplay to those looking for intense, action packed, and deadly (really deadly) experience!

The Difficulty Levels Patch brings not only new difficulty levels, but also an overall balance to the two existing ones. Each Difficulty also grants a different score multiplier so if you want to crank those combo scores up, make sure to play on the highest difficulty you can.

Spoiler alert: This includes mini bosses, so if you’ve encountered an Umbershambler in the past, now he may be accompanied by his Turbo Knight bodyguards.

Shamblers and Ubershamblers should me more of a threat now thanks to balancing and improvements to their AI.

This patch also brings an overhaul to the music in the first episode!

Most of the level tracks were reworked and extended - each having almost 10 minutes thanks to Jerry and Luke!

E1M1 is now accompanied by a new music track, titled GATHERUM 5 - it's a great throwback to the music from Project Warlock. We can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

Go and check the new and difficulty levels for yourself and be sure to share your thoughts on the forum and our official Discord! All feedback is welcome and most helpful in improving the game.

As always, please leave a Steam review if you enjoy the game as it helps us in reaching new players.

That’s all for today’s update, we’d like to wish you a Happy New Year filled with wonderful adventures!

Celebrate Winter Sale 2022 with a hellish twist!

It may be freezing and snowy outside, but the hellspawn doesn’t rest!

Project Warlock II is now 20% off until January 5th! Whether you want to get it for yourself or give it to someone special, now is the best time!

Help us balance the new difficulty levels

Hey everyone,

We’re hard at work on implementing new difficulty levels to the game and we could use your help to make sure that they’re well-balanced and challenging.

We plan to introduce four difficulty levels: Walk in the Park, Moderate Rumble, Come Get Some, and the most challenging Ready to Die. The main difference between them will be made through the number of enemies and their higher stats. Enemies will have more health, and resistance, and deal more damage to the player.

Before these new settings become part of Project Warlock II, you can check them out on a dedicated Beta branch and share your feedback in the comments or this forum thread.

How can you join this playtest?

Be sure to save your game first! Once you switch to the Beta branch, in-game autosaves will be overwritten, so make sure to save your progress with a manual save option.

In the Steam client, right-click on the game title, go to Properties, then to the Beta section, and select difficulty_level_test - Difficulty Level Test Beta Branch from the expandable list. This will install the build version 0.2.7.73. Start a new game and select one of four difficulty levels.

Once you’re done playing the Difficulty Level Test build, make sure to switch back from the beta branch to the main game branch in Steam’s properties. All game saves made during this playtest will be incompatible with the default game build, including autosaves!

The beta branch with the Difficulty Level Test will stay active for the next two weeks, until December 27. We hope you’ll find some time to give it a try and share your feedback with us in the comments, in this forum thread, or directly on our official Discord.

Visual Update and Gameplay Patch

Hey everyone,

We’ve just released a new patch (version 0.2.7.72) that updates the visuals in the game, balances some of the enemies, and fixes a number of bugs that you might have encountered.

First, take a look at the results of a major overhaul of in-game textures for environments and decorations. We hope you like it!

Now let’s go through the changes in enemy balance introduced in this update:

Knight

  • Decreased attack interval from 2.5sec to 2.0sec

Shambler

  • Decreased attack interval of hitscan from 12sec to 3sec
  • Increased overall magic damage resistance from 0% to 50%

Imp

  1. Decreased base projectile speed from 30m/s to 20m/s

Hogdaddy/Pigdaddy

  • Increased their aggressiveness
  • Decreased bodyshot resistance from 20% to -30%
  • Increased grenade damage from 10dmg to 30dmg

Finally, here’s a list of bug fixes:

  • Fixed the Turbo Knight bug, so it no longer drops infinite loot and causes performance issues
  • Fixed navigation bug where monsters would stutter when there is no path available
  • Fixed monster spawn placement in E1M7 outside of the arena
  • Fixed an issue with Fonts which could have generated performance issues
  • Fixed an old issue with Control Options Menu
  • Fixed particle glitches through ceiling E1M2
  • Removed the no reload info from the tutorial

We’re currently working on various updates and new features (including perks!) that we want to introduce to the game before the release of Chapter 2. In this process, we had to reconsider, rearrange, and reschedule many parts of the previously shared roadmap. Please keep an eye out for more details in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, we hope you’ll keep enjoying the game and share it with your friends, especially now that we have some sweet Autumn and Winter deals coming.

We also want to invite you to check out the arena shooter Impaler which was developed by our friend Apptivus and will release very soon for $2.99.
