Update V0.4.0 – Chapter Selection

Hello everyone!

before we fully focus on chapter 4, we decided to publish a small update with ideas from the community. It was suggested that you can select the individual chapters in the main menu to play them again without having to start from the beginning:

Once you have unlocked a chapter, you can select it from the menu at any time. Please note, however, that if you press "New Game", all progress will be lost. This also applies to the unlocked chapters. So if you want to start from the beginning without losing your progress, please select "Chapter 1" in the selection.

Furthermore, we have made a few small changes in chapter 3, which are not mentioned here for spoiler reasons. The performance has also been improved in some areas and should be noticeable for players with weaker systems.

Feel free to send us more suggestions and ideas so that we can implement them in future updates! We can't say it often enough, but: Your feedback is incredibly important!

Until then, have fun with Psych, and we'll get back to work on Chapter 4!

See you soon,
Dan and Andreas

What's next?

We will continue with the work on the fourth chapter. We have some new features planned with the next chapter, which will again bring more mechanics and more variety. Expect the update in about 1-2 months. Behind the scenes, we are also experimenting a lot with network technology, for a yet unreleased project.

Thank you very much for your attention and have fun playing! See you soon!

What's next?

Hello everyone!

It's been a few days since we published chapter 3 of Psych. Many of you have jumped straight into the new content and shared it with others on Youtube or Twitch. There was a lot of praise, but also some constructive criticism and other feedback that we want to thank you for. We deliberately decided to release a story game as an Early Access version in order to get the game into the right shape together with you and to respond to feedback and suggestions as promptly as possible. What you tell us always comes first for us. We want to be an indie developer whose community is at the forefront of game development. We have analysed your ideas and suggestions and are already planning new content and improvements for the third chapter. These include things like:

  • Improving navigation through the sewers with a map you can find and by highlighting some level design elements
  • More story elements to accompany you as you scurry around
  • More varied events and associated puzzles
  • Enhancing the atmosphere even further
  • Upgrades to the flashlight that can be found in the course of the third chapter such as a higher brightness or an extended light cone
  • Revision of the escalation system (the mechanic where you have to close your eyes) by explaining the system better and adding numerous additions to it
  • And much more…

Of course, the upcoming update will also eliminate the existing bugs, which fortunately were very rare. The game time may also increase a little with the update, as there will be more content. We very much hope that with these improvements we can make the third chapter even better together with you before we move on to the fourth chapter.

With two developers, one of whom still has a full time job, it is very difficult to release big content for Psych in a predictable time frame. We like to take our time to be happy ourselves with the content we present to you. That's why we are grateful for every feedback and suggestion you give us, which helps us to make Psych a little bit better every time!

Furthermore, we will also be releasing our own Steam Trading Cards, Backgrounds, Emotes and Badges for Psych as soon as possible! Since we were verified some time ago, we are now authorised to create these!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for an incredible 2021. From the demo of Psych to the release in September, it was a very nice time together with you, which we hope to have again next year!

We wish you a happy new year, stay healthy and see you soon!

Chapter 3 OUT NOW!

Chapter 3

The time has come! We have finally reached the point of sharing the third chapter of Psych with you. We have a lot of new content to show! First, let's start with the locations of the action. The third chapter now takes place in three locations. The park you've already met, Alex's flat where you travel back in time and finally the underground where a creepy surprise awaits you. Not only are the locations new, but also many game mechanics. While you had to fight with your own sanity in the park, there are other things to do in the course of the third chapter. New puzzles require a bit of skill and brains to solve. Here we have taken special care to bring in as much variation as possible. The puzzles now consist of divided, smaller puzzles that always require a different approach in order to progress. Sometimes you have to be quick to solve a puzzle, but sometimes you need to be calm. At the same time, the horror factor has been increased significantly with numerous new sounds, new atmosphere and an unknown, threatening presence as we desperately search for Sam. We want to offer you a lot of variety for a high level of fun, where no step is the same as the next. At the same time, we learn more and more through the many clues what is going on in Psych and what is going on with Alex.

Here you can get some insights into the third chapter:

We sincerely hope that you will enjoy the third chapter. We will continue to release improvements and new content that will make the gameplay of Psych even better. Feel free to give us feedback on the new chapter in the Steam discussions, on Twitter or via email, or if you have any suggestions on what we can do better!

Thank you so much for being so understanding about the delay of the update. It shows us what a wonderful community Psych has behind it!

What happens next?

After a little time off with our families (which we hope you'll have too), we'll get straight back to analysing your feedback. Based on this, we will make changes that will make Psych even better. If any bugs are found, which we hope to have ironed out ourselves, we will fix them as soon as possible.
The third update will have the version name 0.3. We are aiming for more content and improvements in a 0.3.5 update. After we and especially you, our community, are satisfied with the update, we will go directly to chapter 4. It will take a longer time to create the new chapter as well, but with the experience we have gained so far, things are getting better and better!

We are very much looking forward to your feedback!

Enjoy the time and have a nice holiday,
Dan and Andreas

Chapter 3 News

Hello everyone!

As you surely know, we have announced the content update containing Chapter 3 for the end of November. For this, we have good and bad news, the good first. The update has become much more extensive than originally thought. The underground is much bigger than we had in concept. Due to the fact that the game world has become much larger, the update will unfortunately not be able to be released in November. We are developing as fast as we can, but we also want to do things well and thoroughly. The new date for the content update is around Christmas 2021. We are very sorry for the delay and we hope you can understand it!

This also means that the other chapters will take some time, so we won't be able to release Psych completely by the end of 2021. We guess that the new release date for all 5 chapters will be around February/March 2022.

Furthermore, we have invited two wonderful streamers to join Psych as voice actors. The two German streamers Gronkh and H0llyLP will be featured in the new update as a side story, if all goes according to plan.

Thank you so much for your support, for your patience and also for your incredible feedback that we can and will continue to use to improve Psych. We'll be in touch again when there's something new!
(Very soon)
