New DLC Announced: Steampunk Chess Set and Location
Since the launch of Pure Chess on Steam we have been working behind the scenes to bring some new chess sets and environments to the game. We are now able to share that the first new set to arrive on Steam is the Steampunk chess set!
We're really excited to be bringing this exclusive set to PC and Xbox One and can't wait to see what you think of it. We took inspiration from our steampunk mech-combat game Ironcast to design this stunning set, hoping to bring some splendour to the chess board!
The Steampunk set launches on Wednesday 16th November, priced at £1.99 / $2.99.

Play Live Against a Chess Grandmaster on Wednesday 16th November
After a crazy reception for the first ever crowdsourced chess game on Twitch, we’re bringing Twitch vs. Pure Chess back with a vengeance.
On Wednesday November 16 from 4pm GMT / 8am PST, Grandmaster Niclas Huschenbeth will be taking on the hive mind of the Twitch chat in a live showdown on the Ripstone Twitch channel. The previous instalment of Twitch plays chess saw over 6000 players voting for moves against GM Simon Willams, with the overall result being two wins for the GM, one win for the chat. Niclas will be battling it out with the chat for a clear run on the front page of Twitch, so the stakes are pretty high.
Follow us on Twitch to be notified when we go live with GM Huschenbeth!
We will be asking Niclas questions throughout the stream, so if there is something you would like us to ask him, please leave a comment below!
If the chat manages to defeat Niclas, everyone watching will be given a free game from the Ripstone catalogue. So join us on the front page of Twitch on November 16th from 4pm GMT and make your best move!

Update Released Today
Thank you to everyone that has been in touch since launch, we really appreciate your feedback. We have released an update today to fix some of the issues you have reported, including:
- Mouse accuracy on various game modes
- Resolution issues have been fixed
- A fix for some players experiencing a crash on game start up. (We are still looking into this issue further and hope to learn more from this update)
- We have also identified a possible fix for some crashes which involves the Steam overlay. Disabling the Steam overlay will resolve some crash issues and you can do this by accessing Steam settings in the top left, choosing ‘In Game’ and de-selecting ‘enable the steam overlay while in game’.
If you're still having issues with the items detailed above please let us know on the pinned 'Support' post on the community forum, or drop us an email to info@ripstone.com. We are continuing to investigate audio issues and hope to fix this in an update in the near future.
