Hi ! I hope you are all doing great ! With today's update I added more customization parts for the pickup truck !
Together with the last update, I am now in the process of adding new parts for all of the vehicles in Pure Rock Crawling. Now topping in 30 custom options for the first two vehicles ! Looking back at the days when there was no customization options, I must say I am really pleased with amount of content and the rigs you can create with it. Things are going in the right direction :)
I know that there is much more to fix, add to the game, etc, I read every single post on the forum, might not reply but I am fully aware of the issues/requests you have. One thing at a time, we will get there ;)
That being said, next updates will more or less look like this: add more content for the vehicles, then gameplay improvements and hopefully new map right after !
Have fun and take care !
CUSTOMIZATION UPDATE
Hi ! I hope you are all doing well ! Today's update bring you more customization options for the Short Rock vehicle !
These new parts finally fill up the empty space within exterior customization of the first vehicle. Choose between new front and rear bumpers, roofs, fenders, and doors.
Minor updates:
Improved AO in Red Rock Valley map
Fixed bugged animation for the main axle CV joints
Fixed wrong texture being applied after body element swap
Fixed body element swap not having effect on center of gravity
Upcoming updates will add more options to the rest of vehicles to match up with the first one. Stay tuned for that !
Cheers and take care !
NEW VEHICLES
Hi ! I hope you are all doing great ! Finally trucks with ability to climb over the steepest rocks !
Something always lacking in Pure Rock Crawling were the more hardcore crawlers with close to 90° approach angle. Hope you will have fun taking over obstacles that were out of other trucks capabilities.
To make things more customizable, now in the testing, you can select wheel size for more realism, both when going for more stock look or over the top.
Next update will focus on customization for all vehicles, stay tuned for that !
Have fun and take care !
STEAM DECK / DEVBLOG
Hi ! I hope you are all doing well ! Finally after multiple fixes required, Pure Rock Crawling got playable badge on Steam Deck !
Here is a full breakdown provided by Steam:
This game's launcher/setup tool may require the touchscreen or virtual keyboard, or have difficult to read text
Some in-game text is small and may be difficult to read
All functionality is accessible when using the default controller configuration
This game shows Steam Deck controller icons
This game's default graphics configuration performs well on Steam Deck
This game does not default to external Bluetooth/USB controllers on Deck, and may require manually switching the active controller via the Quick Access Menu
I am very glad about all of the work that has gone into this. Many of the improvements were beneficial for PC players and controller users.
Now for the actual content updates. Right now I want to focus solely on vehicles, maps, customization elements, challenges. That doesn't mean I won't investigate or fix major bugs, more like having my priorities shift towards having more content.
Stay tuned for next the update with 2 new vehicles and customization elements !
Cheers and take care !
FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS
Hi ! I hope you are all doing great ! Couple of fixes with today's update.
improved UI buttons functionality
fixed issue with controller input being lost in menu
fixed handbrake causing truck to shift in to reverse
fixed clutch not working with gamepad and mouse
Additionally, if you are having problems running on windows 7:
Try running with vulkan: Go to Library > right click on Pure Rock Crawling > Properties > General Then in Launch options type: -vulkan
If that doesn't work I added pre Oct 28 build, you can access it in the steam library. Go to Library > right click on Pure Rock Crawling > Properties > Beta, select Win 7 build.
Take care !
MANUAL, AUTOMATIC, AUTOREVERSE
Hi ! I hope you are all doing great ! This update finally brings option to choose transmission type.
The goal of this game is to bring as much realism as possible. Previous iteration of transmission was far from perfect. That's why I reworked whole system. Now you have the ability to choose different transmission types:
manual with working clutch
automatic
automatic with auto reverse
The goal is to make game fun for everyone. If you have access to wheel setup with h-shifter, manual transmission could be a lot of fun to check out. For everyone used to driving with automatic gearbox, you can also use your h-shifter or buttons on the steering wheel. And for everyone wanting more arcade style auto reverse functionality - that's now an option too.
I hope you will all find what works best for you.
Alongside this, couple of bug fixes and improvements:
fixed bug not allowing player to spawn on old maps
improved engine drag
fixed in-game customization not working
fixed bug that caused wheel input to be lost when opening customization menu in game
improved brakes - should fix wandering wheels when diff lock is engaged
Have fun ! Cheers !

FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS
Hi ! I hope you are all doing great ! This update focuses on brake bug when using steering wheel.
Fixed bug when braking is not applied when using wheel
Fixed bug not allowing for full throttle when using wheel
Fixed bug causing wheel drag to affect engine power
Added steering wheel input indicators to the options menu
Thanks for finding these bugs, and take care !
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ! - NEW MAP
Hi ! Long time no see, I hope you are all doing great ! Finally it is time to release new map !
Never would I have assumed this would take this long, but basically this is the follow up of things that started back in 2019 with a trip to USA to make photogrammetry assets from real world trails. So here we are. This map is made using my rock assets taken from trip to MOAB.
This was quite tedious process that I thought would be much easier to implement. But with few things that were updated to main game engine it became reality. With features as seamless blending with terrain and continuous tire marks on trails. On top of that every rock has per poly collision giving you the best possible interaction between tires and environment.
Traversing through the new environment, you will encounter "challenge boards". There you can activate challenges you want to take part in. If you choose not to take any it will play out as free roam. This system gives the best of two worlds, giving you choice.
There are 3 types of challenges as of right now:
Classic Rock Crawling - Mode that you know from old levels. Ride between gates, trying not to touch any cones.
Path Finder - Objective points are marked on the map, get to them as quickly as possible. If not finished you will be rewarded partially.
Follow the point - Slower than others, and requiring more precision. Try to stay as close to the marked location as possible while it moves around the map.
I hope you will have fun completing these challenges.
Update list:
new map
mini map on new map
new challenges system
improved vehicle handling
improved low range
wheel axis invert option
added engine drag
As always, thanks to everybody posting on the forums, letting me know about the problems and suggestions.
Stay tuned for future updates ! Pure Rock Crawling is still under active development ! Take care !
