Teleport Locomotion Update!

Yay! Finally! Necronomicus be praised! Teleport Movement has arrived!

We've heard your many wishes for teleport movement, and although it's taken us plenty of time to finish this up, it's finally ready! Your preferred movement style can now be set in the main menu, on the left hand side of the level selection panel.

Known Issue: You can currently stick your teleport controller through geometry and cheat the level design in some cases. We're going to implement the same solution we have for guns and walls to the teleport remote in our next update to fix this.

In about a week we're planning to release another update, containing some highly requested, smaller features like: tracer bullets, skipping the main menu between levels, snap/free turning for Oculus Rift players, optional weapon laser sights and much more!

We also have another huge announcement that we can't wait to share, so please stay tuned, and as always, stay murderous!

Quell 4D v1.2.0: Oculus Rift Support!

Good news, Murderman!

We've been tinkering in the lab and implemented support for the Oculus Rift!

For the ideal experience, use a three sensor setup, as a two sensor setup can cause loss of tracking when facing certain angles. A two sensor setup is completely fine, however, and there is a button to rotate your play space 180 degrees.

Oculus Touch Movement is handled with the analog stick on the left controller. The complete controls setup can be found below, and on the bottom of the Steam Store Page.

Along with this update comes a bunch of small tweaks, balancing and bug fixes, as well. A complete changelog can be found on the forums, here.

Stay Murdery, Quellers!

Quell 4D v1.1.3: Touchpad Movement!

Murderman, good news!

TOUCHPAD MOVEMENT:
With the recent advances in high-end prosthetics, it's our pleasure that we've managed to equip you with the WalkMan Mk. 1. This machine will allow you to traverse the Lagoreatory without Mucus or the Carrot Stick, instead relying on a remote control for movement.

The results are touchpad movement, similar to the locomotion solution seen in most free roam Virtual Reality games.

Switch to Touchpad Movement by tapping the Grip button on your movement controller.

EASY MODE:
Some levels in Quell 4D are very difficult, and we want everyone to murder at their full potential. We've therefore introduced an "Easy Mode" option for use in levels that are found to be particularly difficult. Easy Mode reduces all damage taken from enemy projectiles.

Switch to Easy Mode by flagging the check box in the Main Menu.

NEXT UP:
We've also been working on a new game mode for Quell 4D, and we're very excited to share more news about this very soon!

Until then, keep murderin'!

Quell 4D v1.1.0: Major Update, Dodge This!

Murderman!

We've just launched a major update that adds something we've been dying to include in Quell 4D since months before launch.

In Quell 4D you play as Murderman and you ride around on a slime beast named Mucus. Players were always meant to stand in the middle of their play space (riding on Mucus) to get around smoothly and fight efficiently in combat. This meant all enemies would target Mucus, the center of your Vive play space and not the position of your headset before firing meaning that players would not be able to duck and hide behind walls, or dodge bullets with their physical bodies, as all player damage was handled via the static mucus "collider".

1.1.0 overhauls this targeting system from the ground up. All enemies now look for the player's headset, and will fire towards your face instead of towards Mucus. Players can now dodge enemy bullets, hide behind walls, peek out and scope out rooms before entering, guns blazing. Overall, this provides for a much improved game experience and opens up for new ways of playing Quell.

While working on this major update, we've also noted and fixed several other issues. These include player's being able to walk through walls by positioning Mucus close to a thin wall and walking through it with their physical body. This has been fixed and players will simply be pushed back when attempting to do this. Another issue was that weapons would sometimes turn dark red and unable to be fired. With the new targeting system, we were able to easily fix this issue. Guns should now only turn red if they are colliding with world geometry, for example if a player attempts to put their gun through a wall.

We hope you'll enjoy this new update as much as we do!

Stay murdery, Quellers!

Quell 4D Hotfix v1.0.1: Ride the Slime!

Fixed:

* Weapons would sometimes become unusable when held in certain areas around the Play Space.

This bug was caused by a system trying to prevent the player from shooting through walls, glass and other level geometry. It has now been tweaked.

Remember to stay on your slime mounts, people! Below are some pictures that illustrate how to properly play Quell 4D :)

Quell 4D v1.0.2: Peashooter 2.0

Murderman!

Good news. We've heard your criticism of the Peashooter, your first gun, and decided to add a set of proper iron sights to help aligning it horizontally and improving aim. Wasting those pesky Ratfoxes should now be easier than ever before!

v1.0.2 Change Log:

Added:

  • New Peashooter Model with Iron Sights

Fixed:

  • Resized and re positioned the area which the player has to hit in order to kill slugs attached the face
  • Z-Fighting Door model in Level 2
  • Removed a developer cheat that made it possible to unlock the entire game world
  • Performance tweak in Subworld Rifts
  • Music in the Intro scene now loops

Release Around the Corner

Hello there!

After a long stretch of exciting development with the amazing HTC Vive, Quell 4D is finally complete and ready for release.

We've got a lot of stuff planned after launch as we're still uncertain where we want to take the game as a series. Until we know, we'll keep working on additional content for the base game of Quell 4D. So expect some cool updates! :-)

Thank you all for your support,
