32 qualified sim racers face off at the virtual Zandvoort circuit
Tim Jarschel aims to defend his title
Prize pool worth âŹ50,000
Munich. The DTM is back in full throttle for 2025: The new season of the DTM Esports Championship kicks off on March 21. At the opening event, 32 of the world's best sim racers will compete in the virtual Zandvoort circuit. A total of 12 races at six events, spanning March to July, await the participants. The drivers who qualified for the series will compete for a prize pool of âŹ50,000. The champion will also earn the chance to test a GT4 race car. The races will be broadcast with German and English commentary starting at 7:15 PM on the DTM YouTube channel.
Sim Racing Stars and Fresh Faces
At the two shootout events earlier this year, sim racers from around the globe had the chance to secure a spot in the 2025 DTM Esports Championship. The starting grid has shaped up to be an exciting mix of seasoned sim racing professionals, newcomers, and new teams. Returning this year is the 2024 champion, Tim Jarschel (Falken Simracing Team), who is eager to defend his title. Other notable contenders include Bence Banki (DĂśrr Esports), Emre Cihan, and Isaac Price (both Privateers), all strong challengers for the championship. The R8G e-Sports Team will also be represented by three drivers: Kaj de Bruin, Julian KlaffenbĂśck, and Alessandro Ottaviani.
The season opener at Zandvoort presents a unique challenge for the drivers. With its blend of fast and slow corners and significant elevation changes, the track demands high levels of concentration and technical skill.
GT4 Test Drive for the Champion
In 2024, Tim Jarschel claimed the grand prize after an intense season. This year, the 2025 DTM Esports Champion will once again be rewarded with a real-world GT4 test drive. The runner-up will receive a KW suspension kit, while the third-place finisher will take home an Ascher Racing steering wheel.
In total, the âŹ50,000 prize pool includes both cash and goods. There are also rewards in two additional categories: the Pole Position Award winner, based on performance across all 12 qualifying rounds, will receive a set of BBS wheels. The winners of the Fastest Lap Awardâdrivers achieving the quickest lap in the main race of each eventâwill win a DTM Limited Edition JBL Bluetooth Speaker.
New in 2025: The Community Cup
On every race day of the DTM Esports Championship, sim racers who havenât qualified for the main championship will still have the opportunity to compete in the Community Cup. To honor the rich history of four decades of DTM, these participants will race on the same tracks as the professionals but in historic cars from different eras.
Before each DTM Esports event, RaceRoom will open a leaderboard, and the top 32 drivers will be invited to compete in the Community Cup race. These races will be streamed live as part of the DTM Esports Race Day broadcast.
