78th anniversary, with the Korean version and the theme song released.
Taipei, Taiwan - The digital adaptation of the popular board game "Raid on Taihoku" is now available on Steam. Set in Japanese-occupied Taiwan in 1945, the game allows players to control an amnesiac female high school student and a Taiwan Dog as they embark on an adventure in a city ravaged by the US Army bombings. In the process of getting back her memories, she also encounters unexpected threats.
Raid on Taihoku is now launching its Korean version coinciding with the 78th anniversary of the historical event.
On May 31, 1945, over a hundred American bombers conducted a devastating airstrike on Taipei, resulting in severe casualties. This year marks the 78th anniversary of the event, and the Korean version will be released in late May.
Producer CHANG, SHAO-LIAN expressed that the Korean translation was undertaken by a team of 42 individuals led by Assistant Professor LEE, Jung-Min from Chinese Culture University (CCU), known as "Team BPMF." The translation process took three months to complete.
Assistant Professor LEE, Jung-Min is a prominent scholar in the field of comparative literature with a strong interest in colonial history. After playing "Raid on Taihoku," he was highly impressed and believed it to be excellent research material. As a result, he proposed the idea of translating the game into Korean to the production team.
Team BPMF led by Assistant Professor LEE, Jung-Min
Professor LEE further explained that both Korea and Taiwan were both former Japanese colonies, but their perspectives on this historical period differ. Koreans tend to adopt a more negative stance, while Taiwanese lean towards discussing this part of history from a more positive angle. Due to the lack of understanding among many Koreans regarding Taiwanese perspectives, Professor LEEbelieves that "Raid on Taihoku" has the potential to serve as an opportunity for Koreans to gain insights into the Taiwanese viewpoint. He hopes this game will help Korean players deepen their understanding of Taiwan.
Coinciding with the 78th anniversary of the Raid on Taihoku, the MV for the game's theme song, "When The Sky Returned," written by musician Enno Cheng, has also been released. Enno Cheng expressed how the protagonist, Kiyoko, constantly stares into space as if looking into a distant past inspired her. Through this song, she aims to bring back the voices emanating from a faraway memory for her listeners, inviting the players to the game and the emotions it brings.

Raid on Taihoku is launched. Close to 50% of the players are international!
Adapted from a popular board game, Raid on Taihoku will be officially launched on Steam at 8p.m. on Feb 15th!
The story is based in Taipei City under Japanese colonial rule in 1945. Players will be an amnestic high school girl, Kiyoko, and a Taiwanese dog, Kuro, to survive in the city under the raid by the United States Air Force. While Kiyoko is regaining her memories, they are also facing unexpected danger and challenges.

Our producer, KJ Chang, indicates that only half of the players who have added the game into our wish lists are Taiwanese, and up to 47% of them are international. Next to Taiwanese players, the second biggest audience are Japanese players, and then those from the United States, China and Hong Kong.
Additionally, KJ Chang suggests that suffering from the raids is a shared memory of Japanese and Taiwanese people during WWII. To understand Japanese players’ thoughts more precisely, the team has also invited several Japanese who live in Taiwan to play the demo, including Prf. Kameda Toshi, who teaches in the Department of Japanese Language and Literature at National Taiwan University, and an international student Yamada Ryota, who studies in the Department of Chinese Literature at NTU. After playing the demo, they had an interview which was recorded as a short clip.
Prf. Kameda comes from Akita-ken, Japan, and has worked in Taiwan for 8 years. His hometown, Tsuchizaki Port, was also under raid during the war. He praised Raid on Taihoku from the perspective of a Japanese scholar.
Kiyoko, rescuing people in the sea of fire
Coming from Okinawa, Japan, Yamada Ryota has studied in Taiwan for almost 4 years. He said that Okinawa was seriously damaged in WWII. Noticing the Japanese remains while living here in Taiwan, he could therefore feel the deep connection between the two countries, and he also learned more about the unfamiliar stories from Raid on Taihoku.
Moreover, the college mentioned above, National Taiwan University, correlates to Japan itself. It was established in 1928 (Showa 3), originally named “Taihoku Imperial University,” as one of the nine imperial universities founded by the Empire of Japan. The affiliated “Taihoku Hospital” has also been shown in the game. The team aspires to grant players the most immersive playing experience while pursuing the apocalyptic aesthetics and remaining true to the historical facts.
To commemorate May 31st, the day of the Taipei Air Raid, the game "Taipei Air Raid" is priced at NT$531, with a 10% discount for the first week of listing. There is also an official artbook and original soundtrack available for purchase. The official artbook contains a wealth of concept art and plot illustrations such as characters, scenes, and collections. The original soundtrack, composed by well-known musicians WeiFan Chang and Enno Cheng, contains 29 soundtracks in line with the situation of the times and the game's ending song, "The End of the War". The game also launched a deluxe bundle package, which allows players to fully collect the "Taipei Air Raid" video game, art setting collection, and original soundtrack at a 15% discount.

Those who forgot about war, welcome to the world of human cannibalism
Adapted from a popular board game, Raid on Taihoku will be officially launched on Steam on Feb, 16th. The one-minute trailer is released, as well as many playing clips.
In the game, a player can control the amnestic Kiyoko and the Taiwanese dog, Kuro, playing the game with dual roles. In addition to Kiyoko’s lost memories, still lots of puzzles are waiting for the players to solve.
From the trailer videos, we can see that besides evading the raid, a player can also put out fires, secretly track someone or confront a SHP, Special Higher Police. There are even some impacting scenes such as prisoners kneeling on the ground while being punished and beaten in the game.
All the settings in Taihoku in the game have been released, too. The delicate modeling authentically reconstructs the Taipei City under Japanese colonial rule.
After the demo version was released in last June, the team took the players advices and enhanced the game, focusing the concept on “the helplessness under a war,” and increasing the collections responding to the plot.
One of the new collections is the leading role Kiyoko’s monologue, reflecting her changing feelings in a war. At the same time, the dialogue has been adjusted, and the team also renewed Kiyoko’s and Blacky’s Tachies, as well as the other characters’ facial features.
There are over 50 original sountracks of the game, because we hope all the players can really immerse themselves in the game as if they are in a war. In addition to the dual roles, there are still other important roles such as the priest, the SHP, the geisha, the doctor, the thief and so on.

Raid on Taihoku is a 2.5 D narrative adventure game, based on the city of Taihoku, under Japanese colonial rule and the raid of United States Air Force. The story is about how an amnesia high school girl, Sayako, and a Taiwanese dog, Blacky, try to survive in their adventure. While evading the raid, Sayako gradually regains her memories, but in the meanwhile, she finds out the appalling past…
With our team’s several tests and updates, the game has been all set and ready. We wish to make you feel closer to the suffered ones in wars via our game.
Released after Chinese New Year, the game has reached its best version within our limited time and sources.
Raid on Taihoku is neither a 3A epic-like game, nor a masterpiece with astonishing Gameplay, but it is rather an independent game, which focuses on the balance of factual history and sentiments. Through the game, we want to make the players empathize with the pain and suffering brought by warfare.
The game includes historical scenes such as Taiwan Sotokufu (today’s Presidential Office), Taiwan Grand Shrine (today’s Grand Hotel), Taihoku Hospital (today’s National Taiwan University Hospital), Taihoku Station (dismantled), Penglai Catholic Church (ruined in the raid), Manka Longshan Temple, Dadaocheng and so on, with a view to represent our beautiful home, Taiwan, before it was threatened by the war.
More than 50 soundtracks in Raid on Taihoku
Before officially releasing the game, we hope to embrace more players’ advices. Therefore, we are going to hold a two-week-long white paper test in December, whose participants include Japanese players, and even Japanese professors. We will dedicatedly polish and enhance the game by accepting these feedbacks.
Thanks again for your support and understanding. We want to present you the best version of the game, hoping that it will also meet your expectations.
Though the ashes still linger on the European land and the fire ruins Ukraine, we hope in this unstable generation, warfare can only be seen in the game.
Thank you for your valuable feedback after playing the “Raid on Taihoku” game demo. We listened to your feedback and have discussed it. The game demo has been updated with :

We hope that these improvements create an enjoyable gaming experience for you. If you have any thoughts or suggestions, let us know what you think here. We really appreciate your feedback and are looking forward to hearing more future feedback from you in the future.
