New Class, the Psychiatrist



The Psychiatrist joins the roster of classes. In the Labyrinth your men's Sanity hangs by a thread, and the Psychiatrist has arrived to either restore it or shatter it completely. The choice is yours.


His primary ability is Self Therapy. He is the only character immune to the Sanity mechanic and will always be in a Lucid state. Therefore, he cannot be the patient of another Psychiatrist, and Madness will never develop within him.


New Carriage, the Mental Care Cabin


The new carriage serves as the Psychiatrist's workspace, where they will attempt to twist the minds of your men through agonizing therapies, seeking to unleash their inner madness.




New game mechanic, Madness


A new mechanic allows you to induce Madness in your characters, turning them into powerful but unstable units.


Mad characters have permanent 0 Sanity, increased damage, and higher loot, but they're always in Hysterical state.


This is perfect for new recruits who need a damage boost, but be careful, as Mad characters are prone to dying quickly.



Bug fixing and game balance


As previous major updates a lot of bugs has been fixed, and some balance changes has been made.

Major Update on September 10th!

Hey everyone! It's been a while, and I've got some awesome news:

On September 10th, we're dropping the third major update with:

- A new class, the Psychiatrist.
- A new carriage, the Mental Care Cabin.
- A new way to improve your characters.
- Madness: a fresh mechanic to round out the Sanity system.



Plus, I´ve fixed a ton of bugs and made a bunch of balance changes thanks to your awesome feedback.

You will have more info about this update soon. This will be the third big update, and I'm getting super close to the full 1.0 release! There's still a ton of stuff coming, so get ready for Railroads & Catacombs to keep you entertained for a long time.

Bug Fixed!

A bug that prevented players from seeing the new bosses has been fixed. You need to have unlocked the first 6 bosses to unlock the first meta boss in your save.

Let me give you a summary of the content:


3 New Bosses



3 new bosses will be unlocked once you have unlocked the first 6. These new bosses are late game content, so you will need to prepare your characters very well before facing them. They are the most difficult challenges yet.




New Biome


These three new bosses come with a new biome that has been designed and hand-painted in great detail to recreate the dark world of Railroads & Catacombs in the best possible way.




Train Menu HUD Improvement


Small buttons have been added to the train's menu to make it easier to navigate to each car. This way, you won't have to walk the entire length of the train from one end to the other, which could be a bit annoying when you have all the cars built.


In addition, these buttons have been grouped by type to make it clear which cars improve the train, which cars improve the characters, etc.




New Scholar Special Skill


The Scholar's special ability has been changed. It is now the only class that can have a deck with a minimum of 5 cards. Remember that in the last update, the minimum number of cards for all characters was increased.



I am convinced that there will be many players who will want to choose the Scholar to become their favorite character.

Labyrinth Update!

New Major Update! (v 0.7)


It's been approximately a month and a half since the game was released in Early Access, and today I bring you the first major game update: Labyrinth. Let me give you a summary of the content:


Lore: Train Logbook




I bring a piece of the Railroads & Catacombs world. After each expedition, you´ll be able to see a new anotation on this logbook. This will help you to understand the goal of your journey through this hell named The Labyrinth, and all the weird things sorround this dark place.


New Deck archetype system: 15 New Subclasses


Some of you have told me that the characters' decks didn't differentiate enough. And to some extent, that was true because their cards were random. So you could see the same cards repeated in various characters who shared the same Warpath.



What I've done is define each subclass, that is, each combination of Warpaths with a predefined and distinct deck that, on its own, offers a different way of playing from the start.

The game has 6 Warpaths, each offering a different combat style. This results in 15 different combinations, leading to 15 distinct Subclasses.


New War Book


It´s a compendium with all the upgrade of the game and all the Subclasses. You can check it whenever you want to search info about all Warpaths and its mechanics.






New objectives in the boss panel


You start with 4 Subclasses and can unlock the rest by defeating specific bosses at specific levels.




New minimum card limit for characters


Now, your characters have a new minimum number of cards depending of their level. A lot of players complained that a level 4 character with only 5 cards was very strong and usually broke the game, and they had right. This change makes the game harder.

The new minimum:
Level 0: 5 cards
Level 1: 6 cards
Level 2: 7 cards
Level 3: 8 cards
Level 4: 9 cards


Tired mechanic has changed


Now, the tired mechanic only works in the train. So if your character is tired won´t do more tasks in the train but could go on expedition without any penalties. The reason behind this is simple, you'll be able to play with whichever Subclass you like.

To compensate this, the game offers rewards for play with another Subclasses.


Bug fixing and game balance


A lot of bugs has been fixed, and some balance changes has been made. I don't want to make this any longer, I will tell you soon.

I want to release another major update with new bosses, areas, enemies and a lot of things in 2-3 months. And some regular ones in the middle! Stay tuned!

Bug Fixing

A bug related with the Azerty/Qwerty keyobards has been fixed.

Some terms translated into French have been corrected.




Azerty keyboards added in settings!





Now the game is more challenging than before, I have introduced the following changes for this purpose. In addition, some of the upgrades that players weren't using as much have been buffed:




The Sanity mechanic has changed; now, in a paranoid state, enemies ambush you, and you lose the first turn. So, it's more dangerous if your sanity drops from a lucid state to paranoid. Before, it was not very relevant, but with this modification, that will change.




- Terror Strike damage has been reduced from 75% to 65%.
- Absolute Terror damage has been increased from 70% to 80%.
- Damage upgrade has been reduced from 75% to 70%.
- Random Heal healing has been reduced from 10 to 6.
- Bite damage has increased from 3 to 4.
- Rage no longer damages your character.
- Life Stealing healing has been halved.
- Life Plunderer damage multiplier has increased from 1.2 to 1.5.
- Might Strength no longer scales with character power.
- Strength no longer scales with character power, instead, it has increased from 3 to 4.
- Aces Poker no longer scales with character power.
- Ninja School has been reduced as it was the upgrade causing the most imbalance in the game. It had an internal mechanism that made the next result an automatic success after a failure. With this change, that mechanism only activates 25% of the time.
- Steal Armor no longer scales and has been reduced from 12 to 10.
- Trigger Happy damage has been reduced from 8 to 6.


Enemies:


- The Crimson Armor of some enemies has been decreased, some indirect damage builds like Premonition and Trigger-Happy, found a wall in these fights.
- 2nd, 3rd and 5th bosses in Standard difficulty ( level 1) have been decreased their Hit Points in order to remove another possible wall to new players.


Bug Fixing:


- Bugs regarding combat, specially some enemies behavior.
- Bugs regarding exploring.
- Bugs regarding tutorial.


What´s next:


- I´m working on the first major update, it will be ready for the end of the month, you can see it in the roadmap!
