Ranch Sim October Update Teaser: Halloween Items! 🎃
Hey ranchers,
It's almost time for the October update! Today we're happy to announce that the update will launch on 28 October, delivering private multiplayer games, multiple save slots and the ability to name your animals.
But we also have some surprises which we wanted to reveal today! The update will also introduce some temporary changes to the game to mark this spooky season.
We're updating the map to be a tad more creepy for the time being.
Look closely and you'll notice a slightly disturbing change of appearance for wolves.
Finally, we've added pumpkin lanterns for you to buy. The best part? You can customise their colours using paint!
We hope you enjoyed this look at the October update. Make sure to return on 28 October when it launches!
Thanks, The Ranch Sim team 🎃🎃🎃
Note: This update will not reset any progress.
October 2021 - February 2022 Roadmap Revealed
Hello ranchers,
Thank you for your support, feedback and bug reports so far. Your suggestions are why we are developing the game in Early Access. Since launch, we've added meat and cheese production, pig breeding, completely updated the game world, and added highly requested features like a free-form building system and horses. You have all helped us make the game better!
Today, we're excited to reveal the next six months of Ranch Simulator's Early Access development!
October 2021 - February 2022 Roadmap
End of October: Private multiplayer games Multiple save-slots Name your animals
Many of you have asked for more privacy options for multiplayer game sessions. This is a significant technical change and has required us to change how we manage multiplayer games (while multiplayer will remain player hosted sessions, we are switching the backend to Unreal Engine multiplayer services). This transition will be completed for the end of October and will give you more options to secure your Ranch experience from unwanted players.
Another feature that you have all asked for from day 1 is the ability to create multiple saves. Again, you asked and we listened and have brought this forward in development.
Last but not least is the option to name your animals - making your ranch and livestock that bit more personalised.
End of December: Additional cow breed Fattening and breeding of new cow breed Automatic milking machine
We know that you're eager for more animal breeds, so we'll be adding a new cow breed in the December update - as well as the option for fattening and breeding that new type of cow.
For the more advanced ranchers out there, the December update will also see the addition of an automatic milking machine.
End of February: Quests from hunters and neighbouring ranches Hunting rifle
While some of you are happy developing and tending to your ranch, others have asked for other activities. From February we will start developing a quest system, which will add optional missions from hunters and neighbouring ranches, adding specific goals and revenue for those who want them.
We know how much many of you like hunting, and know that the revolver is not ideal. So from February we will be adding a hunting rifle.
We also know there are many other features that you are all passionate about like horse breeding, fishing and crops, and over the coming months we will be looking into these too, as well as continuing to fix bugs and listen to your feedback. You can always join us on Discord and share your thoughts, plus you may get a few first looks at updates and new features!
Thank you for joining us on this journey, The Ranch Sim Team
HORSES UPDATE NOW LIVE | Horses, Training, Bidding, New Hats and More!
Hello ranchers!
We've just launched the August update, which adds a much requested animal: horses!
You can now pop to the bus stop near your ranch and interact with the sign in order to travel to the auction house. Here, you'll have to outbid your competitors to buy horses!
Horses are a great new form of transport, but they're also able to be trained up.
Horses have different stats: stamina, speed, handling, and health. The higher these stats, the more the horse is worth. These stats also affect the abilities of the horse, allowing it to run faster for a longer duration and even turn sharper.
The more you ride your horse, the more it gets trained.
You can also build a training pad where you can do a circular run to increase its experience, or perform successful jumps over the jump gates.
Ranch Sim has come a long way since it launched in Early Access, and we have put together a new trailer that better reflects the game as it stands today.
Check it out:

Full Patch Notes
New - Added hat category to the character editor, which contains 3 cowboy hats - Added "William's livestock auction" where you can purchase/sell horses - Added a sign by the bus stops that will take you to the auction house for $50 - Added horses with 4 different types of stats: stamina, speed, handling and health - Added a whistle key (H) - to call your horse. Aim the cursor at it and press H to whistle. It will then follow you around - Added a training paddock for horses. This can be found and built via the blueprint book. - Added ability to train horses by riding, performing successful jumps over jump gates, and running the inner circular run inside the training paddock - Added glossary entries for horse and horse training. See these for tutorial tips. - Added option in the video settings to change horse mane to advanced (NOTE: this uses a new hair system in UE4 that hasn't been optimised by them, so it is therefore of course not optimised in the game. We expect Unreal to optimise this feature in version 4.27 which we plan to transfer onto soon)
Fixes and changes - Fixed the spawning of grass in the main menu
This update marks the end of our current roadmap! Within the coming weeks we'll be announcing the next Early Access roadmap, which will lay out our vision for the next group of exciting updates.
Keep an eye out ranchers!

August Update Teaser - Horses!
Hey ranchers!
We hope you've been having a great time playing Ranch Simulator since the Build Anywhere Update! As always, we are so grateful for all of your support, suggestions and bug reports.
There's not long to go now until we release the August update, which will introduce a much requested animal: horses!
We'll release the update by the end of the month, but for now, please enjoy this little look at the upcoming content!
Purchasing horses will work differently to purchasing other animals. Here, you'll pop to the auction house and have to outbid competitors to buy horses!
We'll be back by the end of the month with this update!
Note: This update will not reset any progress.
Thanks, The Ranch Sim Team
BUILD ANYWHERE UPDATE NOW LIVE | Build Anywhere, Pig Breeding, Hardware Store
Hello all,
The public version of the Build Anywhere Update is now live! Thank you again to everyone who played early versions of this massive update and helped us to test and tweak the new features.
The main feature of this update is a brand new building system. Instead of pre-determined spots for building facilities, you can now build everything wherever you like on your ranch. This includes foundations, floor, walls, doors, stairs, roofs, coops, barn, fences, feeders and preserving bins for meat and cheese products. Oh, and you can now paint freebuild objects, coops and fences in whatever colors you choose! Head to the new hardware store to find a color machine.
We've also introduced a more optimised map, pig breeding, a hardware store and more! Read on for the full patch notes.
IMPORTANT: This update resets your progress!
As previously mentioned, this update wipes your saves. The major changes to the building system sadly means that old saves will no longer be compatible.
For those of you who HAVE NOT played the unstable early version(s) of this update: Your progress will reset when you install and play this update.
For those of you who HAVE played the unstable early version(s) of this update: As long as you have stayed on the unstable branch since switching over to it, you are now safe to switch back over to the public branch. You will not lose your progress again.
New! - New, optimised map; - Larger ranch territory; - New construction system: you will receive a construction book containing blueprints for you to build anywhere on your Ranch; - New construction objects, all found in the construction manual. Includes items like: foundations, floor, walls, doors, stairs, roofs, coops, barn, fences, feeders, prefabricated houses, lamps and preserving bins for meat and cheese products. - Added functionality to the hardware store and revamped the building. You can purchase tools, building materials (wood planks, concrete, metal rebars), lawnmowers, trailers and buckets of paint from the color machine and more; - Changed the line of introductory quests, added in the new building system; - Female pig has been added to the game; - Pig breeding has been added. When a male pig and a female pig are together, they are likely to breed. This will result in the female pig giving birth to piglets (of varying amounts), those piglets will follow the mother around; - Added a Granary and Windmill to automatically refill all food and water troughs; - Added ability to repaint some of the buildings that you can construct, like the free-build objects, coops and fences; - Added ability to demolish old wooden barn and garage; - Added speedometer and changed fuel indicator; - Planks can now be stacked in your hands up to a maximum of 8; - Electronic radio station with 30 tracks added.
Fixes/changes! - Sun direction adjusted; - Fixed disappearing sounds from the saw; - Fixed disappearing chickens / roosters from player's hands; - Improved loading speed of the game; - Maximum animal step height adjusted.
Your support, feedback and bug reports are hugely appreciated, so do keep it coming! See you in August for the next update!
June Build Anywhere Update: Unstable Update v2 Now Live
Hello all,
I am pleased to announce that we have updated the unstable branch, fixing some issues found in the previous unstable build.
There may still be issues with this build, but it's a more polished version of the previous unstable version. So now's a great time to jump in if you want to help test this huge update before the public release on 15 July.
Just in case you haven't seen already, this update includes the ability to build facilities wherever you like on the ranch, pig breeding, a hardware store and much more. For full details please see the previous announcement.
Here's the timeline we're now looking at, subject to how unstable testing goes.
As soon as possible following 1 July:
We will update the unstable build with localisation. Until this point, the unstable version will unfortunately be in English and Russian only.
15 July:
Public update release!
Please note: We recommend that you hold on until the public release of the update if you are expecting a more polished experience.
If you wish to play the early unstable version of the update right now, please head to the official Discord and check out the #announcements channel for details.
Save Wipe Warning
Please keep in mind that this update will wipe your saves. Due to changes made to the in-game building mechanics, existing saves will no longer be compatible. Your progress will be reset when you play the update, whether it's unstable or the public version. You can read more here.
We recommend that if you choose to switch to the unstable branch that you do not revert to the public branch until the update release on 15 July. Switching back before that point will delete your save as you would be reverting to an old version of the game.
And an extra note for those of you who do choose to play the unstable version: there's also a possibility that if we find a severe bug in the unstable build, then we may need to wipe saves again after it's been fixed.
We hope you're as excited about the next Ranch Simulator update as we are! We have some important news for you today.
This update is not only a substantial change to the way the game works, in terms of building facilities, but it's also by far our biggest update yet and we know you are going to love it. However, we need your help!
We have made an unstable version of the new building system available for testing today, and we need lots of you to give it a try. We know you will make exciting and unexpected new creations, and we need to make sure the game can handle it. So please jump into the Discord and head to the #announcements channel to find out more. Your help is really appreciated.
The release will be dependent on what bugs you may find, but with this level of change we are expecting the full public release to be delayed until 15 July (more details towards the bottom of this announcement).
Full Update Reveal - Build any Facility Anywhere, Hardware Store, Pig Breeding and More
As we're asking you wait a bit longer for the public release, we wanted to give you a proper look at the update itself. First off, please note that additional daily quests have not made it into this update as hoped, so we have removed it from the roadmap.
That's the bad news out of the way - we think you'll be very excited by the update nonetheless. It's a big one!
Build Anywhere
We previously revealed that you'll be able to build the likes of coops and fences wherever you like. We're happy to reveal that your ranch plot size has increased, and that you will be able to build everything wherever you like on the ranch.
You still have a number of pre-made houses you can select if you wish, but you can now build facilities freely including foundations, floor, walls, doors, stairs, roofs, coops, barn, fences, feeders and preserving bins for meat and cheese products.
You can now paint freebuild objects, coops and fences in whatever colors you choose! Head to the new hardware store to find a color machine.
More building freedom also means bigger barns if you so choose.
New Map
We've introduced a new map which is more optimised, delivering a smoother experience for some of you. You may also notice some visual upgrades.
Pig Breeding
We've added female pigs, who can mate with males in order to give birth to piglets. The piglets will also depend on their mother for food whilst they grow!
Hardware Store
A hardware store has been added. This is the place to visit in order to purchase your tools and building materials, like wood planks, concrete, metal rebars, lawnmowers, trailers, paint and more.
June Update Release Plan
Here's the timeline we're now looking at, subject to how unstable testing goes:
TODAY: Unstable Update v1
We have a very early version of the update available right now on the unstable branch. This will have bugs and if you are someone who would rather play a more polished version of the update, we recommend that you hold on for a bit.
30 June: Unstable Update v2
We plan to release a more polished version of the unstable on 30 June - this will have less bugs and will be a better gameplay experience, but there may still be some issues.
As soon as possible following 30 June:
We will then update the unstable build with localisation. Until this point, the unstable version will unfortunately be in English and Russian only.
15 July:
Public update release!
Please note: We recommend that you hold on until the public release of the update if you are expecting a more polished experience.
If you wish to play the very early unstable version of the update right now, please head to the official Discord and check out the #announcements channel for details.
Save Wipe Warning
Please keep in mind that this update will wipe your saves. Due to changes made to the in-game building mechanics, existing saves will no longer be compatible. Your progress will be reset when you play the update, whether it's unstable or the public version. You can read more here.
And an extra note for those of you who do choose to play the unstable version: there's also a possibility that if we find a severe bug in the unstable build, then we may need to wipe saves again after it's been fixed.
We're really excited to get the update in your hands!
Thanks, The Ranch Sim Team
Ranch Sim - June Update Teaser
Hello all,
We hope that you've all been enjoying your time on the ranch so far! Today we want to give you a brief sneak peek at the June update!
Firstly though, we want to remind you that your save games will be wiped when you play the June update. This is an unfortunate side effect of the update adding the ability to build the likes of coops and fences wherever you like. This major, fundamental change to the game sadly makes old saves no longer compatible. For more information, please read the forum post here!
