Hi! Here is new drift mechanics - now when your rat will gives too much throttle and then releases the clutch, the wheels will lose their grip and they will drift until the rubber will not catch the grip again. The wheels, of course, react to the different types of ground.
(the basic gokart does not have manual clutch so it cannot drift, use Quadra cars)
The clutch basically disconnects the engine from the wheels so you can save a bit of horsepower and use it a half second later, for ex. after a corner.
If you are using an Xbox controller you can disable Steam Input - the controller will map to default mapping:

To use these features you need to enable Beta version:

Rat Racer: New Car!
Hi guys! After a long waiting here's a new car - Quadra :)
It comes with several paint options and other tunings, it has also manual clutch so you can get some advantage by using it creatively (or just for small burnouts).
Also: - there is better positioned audio, it is now easier to locate your opponent by ear - when your resolution is too low/high, press L to set full/half/quarter res - M mutes the music - Shift is clutch. Ctrl is handbrake - Alt+Enter turns full screen on/off

Rat Racer: Physics update
Hi Racers! Here is "look and feel" update, where we have: - new character: Bun! - both characters have now redesigned look and animated bodies - redesigned car suspension, both car and driver are reacting now on inertial forces - accelerating, braking, side slipping etc. - Ragdoll physics!

Hi Guys, you can now try the multiplayer - use the same room name as your friend and go!
The multiplayer is still in development so some of the collision glitches may appear. Let me know what works for you and what doesn't so I'll think about it in the next updates. To enable the multiplayer you need to enable Beta

Rat Racer: New Race Track!
Dear Supporters - after a long waiting, here is "Wooden":
While the previous tracks were flat, Wooden is the first one with varying road heights and inclination. Use the analog gamepad and handbrake to keep the car grip. Driving at high speeds on this track may be unpredictable.
In addition we have more types of grounds such as undergrowth, mud, oil - each with its own physical characteristics.
Also: - AI has been rewritten from scratch and has now more ways to win, however the script is not finished so sometimes it can be more stupid than before - it will be gradually improved in subsequent updates. - The rats are fluffier
Let me know if there are any errors so I can fix them and move on to the next features.

Rat Racer: New Race Track!
Hi Everyone! After a long waiting - here is The Village - a new race track where you can test all new physics features:
The track has different kinds of ground and a lot of items to destroy. You can also move the items to block your opponnent.
It's also more detailed visually so the hardware requirements may be a bit higher.
New physics
based on your comments, the car is now reacting to different ground types - dirt, tarmac, sand - you can feel this during drive, also visuals like dust, dirt, microbumps are upgraded.
The camera is more predictable in both 1 and 2 players modes and there is a better slomo effect and overall post processing.
Also, introducing Snowid! One of the best 8bit-medieval-rave-scene artist! There is only one music track but it's massive. You can also learn a few Polish words here:)
