RC Rush

A message regarding the Unity controversy and how it affects our games.

As you may know, both Axe Throw VR and RC Rush were made with the Unity Game Engine. Recently, Unity Technologies (the company who make the Unity engine) have made some extremely disturbing changes to their pricing. Essentially, trust in Unity as a company has been massively negatively impacted by their aggressive approach and lack of respect for developers.

Even though the new fees do not affect Tea Monster Games directly (neither Axe Throw VR nor RC Rush has not sold anything near the payment theshold where this new policy kicks in), the way Unity have conducted themselves is unacceptable.

Moving forward, Tea Monster Games will not be using Unity Game Engine. This was a difficult decision to make, but a necessary one.

Tea Monster's next game 'Jack Dragon and the Stone of Peace' is a 2d retro arcade game that uses the GameMaker engine. It's a fast-paced love letter to 80s and 90s arcade gaming, with chunky pixel graphics and retro arcade sound effects. You can check it out here:

v1.3.3.7 update.

Hello all you R.C. racing superstars!

Bit of a surprise update..

It's been just over a year since we launched RC Rush and it's been a fantastic ride. We launched the game on Steam, then Viveport and most recently a re-jigged version made its way onto the Xbox One just last month.

The main part of this update brings major A.I. improvements and a new free roam track to play around with. Game controller support in VR (such as xbox controllers etc.) finally got fixed up. The update is jam-packed with other fixes and tweaks to make a better game, many of which come from the Xbox One version. See the full notes below for more info.

Things are now winding down a bit on RC Rush, as I look to start making a new game. That said, If any of you lovelies find any bugs or have any problems- please do let me know in the Discussions boards and I'll try to address it. I doubt there will be any *major* changes moving forward, but I'll address issues as and when.

I sincerely hope you enjoy this update. Thank you for all your support over the last year, for writing amazing positive reviews on the Steam page, and thank you for being such an awesome community!

Have fun!
Jeff.

Minor patch v1.3.2.2

Update v.1.3.2.2

The main reason for this patch was to fix a game breaking issue where the main menu UI could, in some cases, fail to start the game. This issue was introduced in the localization update, but should now be fixed.

Also, this build brings some rendering optimizations in levels that use terrains (outdoor, scrapyard, winter, cave, pool and playground)

If you find any issues, please do let me know in the Discussions board so that I can address them as best as possible.

Thank you for your ongoing support for RC Rush and thank you for supporting indie games!

1.3.1.4 small menu fix

v1.3.1.4

Fixed menu vehicles from giving up and going bonkers after first lap(!)
Optimized terrains a bit
Fixed stretched rock texture in cave track B
Updated bHaptics plugin to v1.6.6

Quick patch

Fixed issue where you could sneak around the finish and the respawn system would fail
Fixed texture tiling on large rock in cave 2
Added back missing colliders to pool float things

The Steam VR Fest Update

Hello again, RC racing superstars!

It's time for another update, all set for start of the Steam VR Fest event starting Monday Jul 18, 2022.

The biggest change this one brings is that RC Rush now allows you to play in one of 6 different languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Ukranian or Chinese (Simplified).

The new update also brings nice new wobbly physics-based aerials (antennas) to all of the vehicles (!) as well as some odd fixes and tidyups here and there to make things flow a little bit smoother. We've tweaked some of the display statistics on the vehicles, too, to better reflect their capabilities so that you can make a more informed choice of vehicle for the level you're about to tackle.

The user interface and menus have had a fairly substantial overhaul to support the new languages, and we've also tweaked some interface elements for consistency, so you may also notice a difference there.

If you hit any issues, please do use the forum to report them to us and we'll try to address them. As we are a two-person team (one programmer, one art) things may move a little slower than other games, so we thank you for your patience and we're super grateful for everything you do and have done to support our game.

To all of our current players, thank you for your continued (amazing!) support.

To all of our new players:

Welcome!

Bienvenue!
Herzlich willkommen!
¡Bienvenidas!
Ласкаво просимо!

bHaptics support!

One of the big updates is bHaptics support. I was sceptical at first as to what this would bring to the game, but after testing with a Tactsuit X I can honestly say that having bHaptics support adds a whole extra dimension to the experience. Playing the game in VR with VR controllers and a bHaptics vest, is almost like being plugged into the Matrix! Check out www.bhaptics.com for more information.

Thanks to everyone at bHaptics and to the bHaptics team for help and support. Big shout out to AlexVR for reaching out, and also for helping us to fix a few issues in the game.

As well as bHaptics, we've also added a little haptic feedback to the VR controllers to help you get more of a feel for what's going on with your RC car's suspension. This can be turned on or off via the System Settings menu of the game.

Along with some minor bug fixes and improvements, we hope you find this build makes your RC racing experience even more fun!

Comments? Suggestions? Feedback on the new feedback? XD As always, let us know what you think in the Discussions boards!

Take care out there. Be nice to each other and be nice to yourself :)

A buzzin' update! bHaptics support v1.2.9.8

Hello RC superstars!

One of the main updates to the game is bHaptics Tactsuit X support. It adds a whole extra dimension of feedback to the game, helping to forge more of a connection between you and what's happening in the virtual world. Check out www.bhaptics.com for more information on this amazing tech. Thanks to the bHaptics team for your support, especially AlexVR for reaching out.

As well as bHaptics, we've also added haptic feedback to the VR controllers to help you get more of a feel for whats going on with your RC car's suspension. You can turn this on or off via the system settings menu screen.

As well as things buzzing all over the place, this build also brings with it a few fixes. Full patch notes below.

Thanks for all your support so far and for supporting indie games like this one!

Notes:
Added bHaptics support
Added haptic feedback on controllers (can be turned off in settings - ffb)
Fixed shader issue in caves
Fixed problem with restarting wiping out the vehicle audio (thanks to AlexVR for reporting this issue!)
Fixed potential crash bug with restarting levels from the pause screen just as the game tries to load the main menu (resulting in the restart happening after the main menu loads and crashing the game)
Fixed physics (handling) of Blaze vehicle
Fixed physics (handling) of Speed Eagle vehicle
Removed particle effects from fires in treasure rooms 2+3 (until we can find a way to do it without causing so much performance loss)

Minor fixes v.1.2.8.8

  • Fixed missing wall colliders on rooftop E track
  • Added solar panels to the sides of rooftop levels where you could see the bottom of the environment on topdown camera view (so it's now hidden and looks nicer!)
  • Fixed final campaign vehicle unlock (should have been Pinkster, not Undertaker!)
  • In winter levels, fixed colliders of presents causing errors, which may have negatively affected performance
