The trick behind Hollywood Animal look
Hello,
New video 'Hollywood Animal — The trick behind Hollywood Animal look' is out!
Today we reveal our tricks for creating the Diablo 2 parallax effect in Hollywood Animal, intended to show depth and perspective on the movie studio map. See it yourself:
In Hollywood Animal, you'll take the lead of your own film studio, and carve out a place for yourself under the bright Californian sun. But it won't be enough to just place buildings, and hire people, and come up with stories to make into films. After all, you're not the only dreamer in this town. And this time, your competitors aren't the background abstractions you might be expecting in this genre. No, these rivals are cunning, insidious, and willing to cross any line. You'll find out about all it – and much more – in the new gameplay video.
Put your skills to the test on January 16, 2025, when Hollywood Animal goes live on Steam Early Access. And in case you want to practice a little, before your full-on clash with the Hollywood heavyweights, we have prepared a new free demo for you, coming in December.
Find yourself in the chair of a Hollywood executive, in the midst of the Great Depression. Enter tense negotiations, make unpleasant compromises, face war and social upheaval – and remember, art always requires sacrifice. See for yourself in the free demo, which spans the first few hours of the game.
Feel free to discuss the demo in the discussion section here and here. To report a technical issue go here. To report localization issues go here.
We'll be happy with your screenshots, videos and reviews on Steam and beyond its limits.
Play the demo and add Hollywood Animal to your wishlist. We appreciate your support!

In the free demo version of Hollywood Animal on Steam, you'll manage your movie business for the two years spanning 1929 to 1930. The Great Depression, Prohibition, mafia wars – and your very own adventure film about a hapless knight who's drawing the line at sharing his beloved with an ancient demon. Isn’t that just wonderful?
What better way to celebrate a movie game than releasing a movie of your own? -- Which brings us to "Poor Sheep", a short but compelling tale set in the world of Hollywood Animal.
And bear in mind, everything you see in this short – and much more – can actually be done in the game. See it for yourself on May 30.
HOLLYWOOD ANIMAL announced — plus new investigations for This Is the Police 1&2
We're back! Hollywood Animal is coming to PC in 2024!
In a new strategy game from the creators of This Is the Police, you'll take the helm of a film studio in the late 1920s, and guide it through decades of tough choices. If you liked the gritty style of our previous games, please come give Hollywood Animal a look and add it to your wishlist.
To celebrate the announcement, we created a gift for fans of This Is the Police: two new investigations. The first sets up the story in This Is the Police 1, and the other continues it in This Is the Police 2. (And yes, it involves the venerated Bloody Shirt film franchise). If you're reading this, the investigations have already been added to your games! Enjoy!
