Update #3: Oculus



Just released support for Oculus + Touch Controllers.

This is just first stage of integration. We are still using Valve's OpenVR for Oculus HMD, but it's fully playable now.
Later we plan to fully integrate Oculus SDK for native support.

In the next update we plan to add visual representation of Oculus Touch controllers, now in-game it looks the same as with Vive's.
We have made 2 concept arts for controllers, will be great to get opinion.





We find out that for some players - height may not work correctly, you can try to install beta patch.
NOT RECOMMENDED TO INSTALL FOR PLAYERS WHO HAS CORRECT HEIGHT IN GAME.

Update #2: Level 4


Hey, we just released our new update for RedCubeVR game :) sorry to keep you waiting, had some works with fixing bugs.

Version v0.2 Release notes:

Fixes and small features:
-New music in Level 1
-Optimized texture resolutions in previous levels - for better quality and performance
-Added glowing trail to sword
-Fixed few steam achievements
-Fixed "Shield" bonus bug - few users had problems with shooting while shield is activated.
-Fixed "Slowdown" bonus - when we die, it resets now properly.


Main update features:
-Added new Level 4 - it is a completely new in-game location. The main features are - openness and large size.







-Added new enemy: "Grenade".
It flies like projectile and have big explosion force.






-Added new weapon: "Laser".
Fast, powerful, have good attack distance, but needs accuracy.






-New game mechanics: Enemy portals and swinging pendulums:





Weapons in REDCUBE VR

Hey. This is second post about in-game content and today's topic is - weapons. ːsteamhappyː
The game has different types of weapons that can be used against enemies. What kinds of weapons are available to the player depends on the in-game location in which we are currently located. Each level has it's own set of weapons and bonuses.

Weapons that are already integrated



Pistol.
Has infinity ammo, shoots not very fast, but has a good damage rate.





Mashinegun.
Has low damage rate, but very fast shoot rate. Also has energy, shown as glowing lines on gun itself. When we start shooting, lines are getting darker and energy starts decreasing and when we release button - it starts restoring power to its full condition.





Sword.
Perfect melee gun for short ranges, kills with one hit.





Freezer.
Special weapon, that sprays liquid nitrogen and freezes opponents.
Can only be obtained from bonus boxes spawned in level.





Weapons - work in progress


This is weapons - we are currently working on. It will be available in future updates.

Laser.
Can burn opponents.



Hand Shield.
Can be used to defend yourself from shooting enemies.



Gravitygun.

We try to create our own gravity gun, to manipulate dynamic objects and enemies in scene. It is inspired by HL2 gravity gun:

Update #1: Day One Patch


Just released quick update:
-Fixed Level 3 loading.

Menu interactions in REDCUBE VR

Hey. This is first post about in-game content and today I would like to tell you about different menu interactions in RedCube game. ːsteamhappyː
For this game we designed controller model, which looks similar to original HTC Vive controllers, but have unique metal style with interactive glowing logo, which changes intensity on touch:


At first launch you will get special language circles to select default game language (Later you will be able to change it in game settings).
There are now 10 supported languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Polish and Russian.



If you already have default language selected - you will see in-game menu parented to your controller. You can navigate by swiping your finger in circular direction and pressing buttons by clicking on touchpad


As I mentioned before - you can change languages later in game menu. Also control music by switching toggle.


We also prepared News category - where you will find info about current and older game builds, release notes, whats being added or fixed


In menu location (we call it The Void),
you will find flying 3D RedCube logo that on controller touch - unfolds itself to
Level Selection structure
(Talked about it in previous post "Red Cube VR Overview/Roadmap").
All levels are located in special holes in that structure. There are 3 types of levels: Unlocked (ready to play), Locked (you need to complete other levels to unlock them) and Under Construction (will be added in next updates)


You can run levels by touching them and pressing trigger button on controller


For people who wants to play in Standing or Seating mode (Thanks for @MarcusC for contacting us on Steam Community Hub forum) - I have added teleport for navigation.

RED CUBE VR Overview/Roadmap

Hey. We are developers of RedCube VR.
I would like to tell a bit about game structure and show some in-dev concepts.
As you may saw in description - the action is happening in "your mind". And our hero is trying to get rid of what we call "Redcube" condition and fight with various fears and emotions.

The game itself will have 11 Locations. (10 main levels + 1 special ending level).
We will have 6 special story cinematics with different characters 6 consciousness mentors.
And each level will unlock new weapons, abilities/bonuses. (will tell more in future posts).

Here's concept of levels selection:

I will be writing posts regularly in which I will tell more info about different characters, new items/weapons/skills, enemies - that we are working on now.
For now our roadmap is to finish main planned game campaign.

After it will be finished, we can discuss with players - maybe will need new game modes - like fitness mode, survival or multiplayer, or some challenges/speedruns with leaderboards, also in-game content itself - weapons, enemies, locations. It all depends on players needs - we will discuss, vote, design new stuff, everyone who interested is allowed to join the process.
