Red Trigger Remake Update 1.1 patch notes - March 30th 2024
Hi everyone!
Long time, no see! Things have been pretty crazy in the last few months (which will be covered in another news update), but I'm very excited to announce that the long-awaited version 1.1 is now LIVE! Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. I hope this will make the game better and more enjoyable for you all!
Here's a list of every changes :
- Save games are now officially implemented! - Both the cinematics at the beginning of the game are now skippable, instead of one or the other - Added a death zone below the whole map in case you fall through, avoiding a soft lock and simply respawning you instead - Crouch is now a toggle by default - In scan mode, you now only need to hold the scan button while scanning. When the scan is complete, you can release the scan button and the description will stay on screen. You can then press any button to exit the description and continue scanning. - Patched specific spots where you could see the small seam between two rooms and see through the world - Fixed the menus where hitting “Escape” would close the main menu but not the options. They would remain on screen until you reset the game. This doesn’t happen anymore. - Fixed the visual of the tutorials - Fixed many visuals and collisions on different models - Fixed some mechanical devices that didn’t reset to their original position if the electrical red trigger activating them was clicked on twice too fast - Fixed checkpoint in level 3 - Fixed a death zone in one of the rooms of level 3 where you could survive on the edge of lava - Fixed a door at the end of level 3 that didn’t have the right model and had no texture - Fixed collision on top of doors of level 5 - Added panels with the word “RESET” on top of the holes in the first room of level 5, to clarify their function - The button’s wire at the end of level 5 now only lights up for a small time since it’s always a short activation when you press it, instead of remaining lighten up forever as soon as you step on it once - The permanent buttons in level 7 now have their wire leading to the center pillar of the room, for a better understanding of their purpose and the objective - The water flooding the final room of level 7 now kills the player as intended - The platforms at the very end now slowly sink in the lava as intended - Speedrunning mode now shows in green or red if your sub-time per level is better or worse than your last record (You need to do one full speedrun after the patch before those numbers appear). It also only shows three decimals instead of something like 6. - If you redid a speedrun in the same session, the audio was suddenly super quiet for the rest of your playtime. This is now fixed. - The leaderboard now shows all the registered times, not just the Top 10 (IMPORTANT : Please note that the leaderboard has been reset). - French language has been added as an option for written text.
Please note that some things might be broken if you already played the game. To fix it, simply reach the first checkpoint of the game. You might also have to reset your options and collectibles progression so that the text shows up correctly.
Save games always come with some risks, so if you notice anything that’s broken when loading a save, do let me know and I’ll investigate as soon as possible! Thank you again for your patience, and I hope you can now enjoy the game even more! Let me know if you have any more feedback, if I sadly introduced some new bugs (It's always possible) and I'll do my best to fix it!

Red Trigger Original 2016 version available once again & 1.0.1 patch notes
As Dr. Farnsworth would say : Good news everyone!
The original Red Trigger from 2016 is now available once more! After downloading the patch, you will now get a choice on which version you wish to play : The Remake or the Original.
You also probably noticed that we have pushed lots of little updates since the launch, and with the one we pushed today, they form version 1.0.1.
Here's some highlights of things we fixed/added :
- More audio sliders have been added and they should now all work as intended. - You can now see which items you've scanned and which audio logs you've found and activated by clicking on the ''Collectibles'' button in the main menu. You can also reset the progress on those if you want to hunt for them again. You can also access this menu by pressing ''L'' in-game. - It is no longer possible to ''float'' by spamming ''R''. - The holograms of the audio logs have been mostly fixed, their hair and facial hair should render correctly now. - The action music in Level 4 no longer stops if you die after hitting the checkpoint. - Many collisions have been improved. - Some typos we've found have been fixed. - Some optimizations has been done so that the game runs better. - Achievements should now unlock normally. - We now added a slider for the sensitivity of the camera in the Y axis.
Here's our next steps : - Removing the fact that you can jump once anytime while falling from a platform, it's a remnant of a prototyped mechanic. - Implementing the save/load feature (we are still ironing out some things there). - Have the platforms of Level 8 sink gradually into the big lava block. - Fixing the visuals for the tutorials. - Fixing the dialogues where they can sometimes repeat or get interrupted. - Many other smaller bug fixes and optimization.
Thanks so much for your patience, understanding and support, it truly means a lot. We'll continue to work hard in the coming months to polish the game as much as possible so you can have the best experience possible. If you find any bugs, the best way to report them to us is by writing to us in our Discord, in the #bugs-report channel, with the specific repro steps. We'll be happy to tackle them one by one for you all.

As you may remember, Red Trigger initially released in 2016 as a free-to-play. It was my (Max) final student project for university. Since then I worked in the Triple-A industry to gain experience, and I worked on titles like Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Valhalla. In 2020, I decided to make the jump like I always wanted to, and founded Bold Spirit Game Studio. Since then, we, as a team of 15 talented developers, are developing a sequel to Red Trigger. We've also decided last January to remake the first game to revitalize the fanbase, gain new players and make the series relevant again. We're proud to say that this remake is now LIVE! It is an update to the original game. If you've already downloaded the game before, you're in luck, you will get the remake for free!
Red Trigger Remake has been made from the ground up, and there's a lot of new features! For example :
<*>A scanning system à la Metroid Prime! You can now scan the environment and gain information about the world you're exploring! Is the wait for Metroid Prime 4 getting unbearable? This should at least scratch your itch!
<*>Audio Logs and spoken lines!
The main character, Red, is now voiced! It really adds to the experience. You can also find audio logs and start to piece together what Red Trigger's universe is about, and learn more about its mysteries and dark secrets. This is also a teaser for the story of Red Trigger 2, let's see if you can guess what will happen!
<*>Brand new artstyle!
We've remodeled everything in the game from scratch. We still have a minimalistic artstyle, but it's still way more detailed than before, therefore much more pleasing to the eye haha! We've also used Unreal Engine 5 this time, and we make major use of Lumen technology, which lets the colors and lights bounce off the walls naturally. It really makes the game glow, especially with our artstyle.
<*>Vaulting!
You can now vault automatically when you get close to almost any ledge. It really tremendously improves the movement and removes frustration of getting really close, but not quite, to the top of a platform.
<*>Better physics!
We've completely remade the logic of the game from scratch, so the game fixes a lot of issues from the original, like the physics of the Red Trigger. You should not encounter frustrating issues anymore, like when you failed & died even if you did everything right.
<*>New audio effects and music!
We've added a LOT of new sound effects and remastered the old sounds that we reused. We've also completely remastered the music, and we have a brand new one for the credits sequence!
We really hope you enjoy the game! Please note that the save/load system is not yet enabled, we want to test it and polish it a bit more. Speaking of which, we know of a couple of bugs in the game and we are hard at work to fix them! We push an update pretty much everyday. In the meantime, thanks for your understanding if you encounter bugs, we really want to deliver you a stable and optimized experience, but we are a small team, so we will keep working hard to give you that!
We initially wanted to keep this game for the original game and have a new Steam page for the remake, but that sadly has been refused. Therefore, the original game is no longer available. However, we will try to integrate it to a beta branch so you can still play it. We'll let you know when that's the case. If we can't make it work, we'll simply drop a Google Drive link in our Discord so you can play it outside of Steam.

Red Trigger Remastered Announcement
Hi everyone!
Today, we're proud to announce Red Trigger Remastered!
With the Steam page and trailer of Red Trigger 2 coming in the next days, a lot of players will probably hear of the series for the first time, and may be interested to play the original game. If you're one of those people, hi! Really happy and flattered by your curiosity in the Red Trigger universe.
The original Red Trigger game was my final student project, so naturally, it's a bit rough around the edges at times, and you can encounter some bugs and unreliable physics. Since then, I worked on Triple-A titles and gained a lot of experience. At the moment, we are working hard on the sequel, but we'll also take the time to remake from scratch the first Red Trigger using the tech we will have developed for Red Trigger 2. We'll also add in some minor details to better link the original with the sequel. Therefore, we will release the Remaster shortly before the release of Red Trigger 2, which will be in a couple years from now.
To new players, you can either wait for the remaster, or play the original game now, or both, it's up to you! I hope you have a great time!
To speedrunners and fans of the original, don't worry! The original game will still be available for download, so you can have both versions of the game.

Red Trigger Update 5 - July 26th 2019
Hi everyone!
A new update is now available! I hope this will make the game better for you all!
Here's a list of every changes :
- Fixed the buttons, you can only activate them when you're close. A bug was introduced last update that allowed to activate them from far away in some situations.
- SteamVR shouldn't launch anymore when launching the game. It was happening to some users that had a VR headset.
- Screen Tearing shouldn't happen anymore. Let me know if it still sadly does.
- Fixed a checkpoint orientation, after the Scanning Room.
- Some updates on the timer.
That's all the changes! Thank you for your patience, and I hope you can now enjoy the game even more! Let me know if you have any more feedback, if I sadly introduced some new bugs (It's always possible) and I'll do my best to fix it!
Additional info : As some of you may know, I've been working in the Triple-A industry for more than 3 years now, in order to gain experience. Some exciting news are coming up in the next years! In less than a year, I'll pursue my lifelong dream to found my own indie studio, and I'll start making the longer and priced sequel to Red Trigger!
